Perfect size Aviation Snips.
Another great product from Capri, 7 in. Left-Cut Compact Aviation Tin Snips. I like the smaller size. It makes cutting corners easier and it fits in my small female hands better. The snips cut through the metal very easily as shown in the video. I like the locking feature. It is much easier to use and more stylish than the locks on other aviation snips I have. Of course the compound four bar linkage that drives the cutters is wonderful in amplifying ones hand strength for cutting. Much nicer than a direct shear cutter. I like this tool and I use it for doing duct work around the house. It is also great for crafts. My son and I are building a little robot out of a soda can and these aviation snips are perfect.

Precise for heavy or light work
The compound leverage design used with these snips allows relatively effortless precise cuts regardless of the guage metal being cut. These snips will cut anything up to 16 guage steel. They have double heat treated chromolly blades. The handles are cushioned and designed to easily fit a person's hand allowing the leverage to really bear down on the heavy stuff. The part I found most useful was the centrally located locking device which you could either engage or disengage with just your thumb (see the pix). I could just pick these up, thumb off the lock and start cutting. Even though the snips were made to handle some pretty thick steel I was still able to make precise cuts in light weight aluminum flashing without the usual bending and twisting which always gives rise to my post military vocabulary. When extending the cuts these snips don't make those sharp finger slicing burrs my old ones did and the sides of the cut metal lie flat allowing continued accurate cutting. I'll be using these for a long while.

Shear Enjoyment
A small sized shear that will be convenient for small detail work in thin stock. The specs indicate capability up to 16 ga. steel. Although it WILL cut that thickness, it is slow going and requires a great deal of force. On thinner stock, it cuts as expected, though the small jaw capacity limits the amount of cut with each "bite", which can lead to jagged cuts if one is not careful. This would be a good choice for someone who has no need for a full sized shear and only works with relatively thin stock,

Comfortable and small tin snips
These aviation tin snips work well. They are smaller than others I have used. This enables me to make concise cuts in the metal. They are comfortable to use even with large hands. The actionis smooth and they cut well. I tried them on a project renctly they gave superior cuts with smooth edges. They are just right for crafts or commercial use where you need to get in small locations.

Good for Short Cuts
The Compact aviation tin snips are very good for short snips of lighter gauge steel and aluminum. The jaw opening is roughly 3/8 of an inch with a depth of about 1 1/4 inches. I have used this tool for short cuts and trimming as the jaws are not designed for long cuts. When using a rotary cutter it is a fairly common issue to have burs and occasional short strips where the wheel does not cut completely through the metal. This aviation tin snips works great for cleaning up edges and removing burs. It is also quite handy when fabricating light steel and aluminum where you want exact cut outs along the edges and for rounding corners. I used this tool quite a bit when using the plasma cutter to making steel shelving. Trimming edges is short work with this tool. The grips are very well designed and comfortable to use. There is a finger grips on both sides that allow excellent handling when cutting, even with heavy gloves on. The cutting edge is sturdy and remains sharp, even after repeated cuts. The blade locking device, similar to a variety of garden tools, is strong enough to hold the jaws tight and avoid opening when being moved around. The tin snips are especially useful for small cuts and trimming .Overall I am pleased with the tool. It is not designed for big jobs or thicker metal as this requires a greater degree of grip and the jaw opening is too small for that kind of work. For the lighter metals it works great and is a very handy tool to have.

Compact, Lightweight and Strong
I cut a lot of metal while working on my craft projects and these 7" tin snips are my favorite tool. I find I have better control when cutting because of their compact, lightweight size. I can cut out small and/or very detailed pieces with more accuracy and get into hard-to-reach spots easier than with the typical larger, heavier tin snips. The steel blades are super sharp and seem to glide through the metal. The molded, ergonomic handles are very comfortable and allow for extended use with no aching or tiring. Great, very well-made tool!

great tool
This is so great. I have bigger tools and I really needed this one for different projects. It works great and is so sturdy for a smaller tool. I never knew about this one and am so happy to have it. At first I was a little worried that it would not work, but it did the job. WOW. More people need to know how great this tool is. I have told my friends and neighbors and they will for sure look into getting one. Thank you.

easy and convenient
This pair of snips is quite smaller than I am used to. They open easily with one hand and are a lot easier to handle than "traditional" sized snips. I can see someone with smaller hands finding them user-friendly. They cut metal flashing and corner bead just as easy as my other pairs, I don't know about thicker gauge metal but probably the majority of users would want another tool for that especially for extended periods. All I know is it cuts thin gauge metal and fits easily in my tool bag, and my pocket when I have to put it down quickly and use both hands.

Great piece of compact tool
The Compact Aviation Tin Snips is a great piece of tool to add to your collection. It is a compact tool that delivers great performance. I use it to cut aluminum cans and copper sheet. The first thing you'll notice right a way is the angle of the scissor blades--they are straight. Most snips are typically angled up 25-30 degree. The straight position gives you better control. It comes with a spring between the blades to increase cutting proficiency by creating a negative resistance when the blades cross each other. The handles are molded perfectly to fit your palm to prevent slips. It also has a one push button to lock the scissor blades when not in use. It is compact that you can carry it in your back pocket. You can cut all sorts of sheet metal, cooper sheet, aluminum cans are no problem, up to 16 gauge. Overall this is a great tool for your smaller cut that requires clean and accuracy.

Good tool for the amature or the pro!
I got these so I could cut through the steel walls of my pole barn in order to mount some exterior electrical boxes. Cutting a 4 inch circle for the fixture box was relatively easy. The cutter was very sharp, the handle was comfortable to the hand while squeezing and working them to form a circle was a breeze. My only complaint was that the jaws of the cutter didn't open wide enough for some cuts, and was rectified by making more than one cut to compromise for this shortcoming. In all a good tool

It's Not The Size That Matters
I used this tin snips to cut a 2" x 2" square notch out of a .0165" thick corrugated galvanized steel roof panel. It's hardened steel blades cut through the panel very easily allowing me to plunge 2" deep into the panel, pushing the first cuts of material to the side, without a problem. The compact size & light weight of the snips makes it a permanent part of my tool belt. Only 7" long, it can get into tight spots. The ergonomic design & cushioned handles gave me a solid non slip grip. It locks & unlocks with a simple thumb movement. I also used it to trim a section of thick rubber torch down roofing material. Great product!

Great design, quality, performance and comfort
In a word, these right-cut and left-cut tin snips are excellent. Their compact size fits easily in my tool pouch and their design makes them comfortable to use. On aluminum coil, fascia and soffit and 16 ga. galvanized sheet metal the snips make nice clean cuts and compared to other left and right cutting snips allow for smaller, tighter radius cuts.

Excellent performance in a small form factor
This review covers both the Capri Tools 7” compact left and right cut aviation tin snips. I think every avid do-it-yourselfer should have tin snips in their toolbox. I don’t do a lot of sheet metal work but when I do it is handy to have the right tool for the job. I have a couple of pair of full sized straight cut snips but had never gotten around to getting the left and right cut snips so when I had the opportunity to try out the Capri Tools 7” compact aviation tin snips I thought it would be a good time to get them. I was immediately impressed with the feel of the snips. Compact, solid, with a smooth operation typical of a well-made tool with tight tolerances. They really operated like a nice pair of small scissors. The first task for them was to cut the tie-wraps holding them into the package. They cut the small nylon without any problem, indicative of the tight fit of the jaws. Then out to the garage in search of sheet metal. Alas, all the good stuff was too buried in the back corner to dig down so I thought about other things I would typically use tin snips to cut. Not seeing anything metal to cut I thought I’d just try cutting in general. First thing up was some old rusty 1/8” braided steel cable. Whack, Whack, Whack, not too much trouble at all. Then I grabbed the plastic zip lock bags the tools came in. They cut through the flimsy plastic smooth and clean, I was really surprised. Trying for something more difficult I grabbed a piece of paper…both pair cut it as easily as sharp scissors, right after cutting braided cable! Cardboard, no problem, nice smooth, clean cuts. I pulled out an empty soda can and cut some nice clean curves. The snips cut the thin aluminum as easily as paper. I was able to cut 1” diameter circles and was able to trim thin strips as narrow as 1/32” with no problem. I was also able to cut some tapers and shave the corners off previous cuts with no problems. I cut one taper with a point so sharp it pierced the end of my finger like a blood test lancet when I accidentally bumped into it. The snips cut through the tops and bottoms of aluminum cans with no problems other than the curved bottom due to the thickness and angle from the side into bottom. I grabbed an empty one-gallon milk jug and the snips cut through the neck and into the body of the plastic with no problems. I think these snips a perfect for someone like me who doesn’t cut a lot of sheet metal and doesn’t have a lot of room in their toolbox.
