Of note, for surface repairs on their fiber cement siding products, James Hardie recommends the use of dry mix portland cement-based patching compounds. Used this exterior patch to fill in some medium-sized cracks...
Used this exterior patch to fill in some medium-sized cracks in my wood door trim at the back of my house. Just like regular drywall patch, it was easy to apply and smooth out. Let it dry for a few days and then primed and painted over it. Hasn't been long enough to determine how weather resistant it is but, being painted over, I think it will last a long time.

This is a great product. We had areas on the aluminum covering our porch posts that had corroded and this product fixed that so that the whole aluminum sleeve didn't need to be replaced. It dries very hard.

used it to repair some unfinished pine on a picnic table. knot holes and other imperfections prior to painting. The product worked better for me than the "plastic wood " products that I have tried to use in the past. Far easier to use with much better results.

Good product
It sure does what it says that it does. The 1 reason why I gave it a 4 star is because maaaan, that stuff is hard to sand down. If your just doing a small hole or little patch work fine. I had a customer ask me to use it in 2 exterior ceilings where he used hardy board. So I filled in all seams and screw holes. Took me 5 days to putty it all and sand it all completely down.

Easily workable as a patch, but definitely not white.
I assumed that this product would dry white as the packaging indicates, so I used it to fill several thousand nail holes in white Azek trim that I was not planning on painting. After the product dried, it remained a medium gray that is going to guarantee I need to paint this trimwork... This product made a great patch, but the color is so far off that it is causing me hours and hours of extra work!!

DAP Platinum Patch is labeled as a "White", not "Bright White" or "Brilliant White" as with other DAP products. Platinum Patch is not "color changing" (the wet to dry state colors do not change significantly), nor is Platinum Patch specifically color matched to any color standard/specification. While the product does not require the application of paint or other coating for performance, paint coatings are commonly applied for cosmetic reasons. I used this product to repair an exterior metal door....
I used this product to repair an exterior metal door. It worked great filling in the dents and sanded smoothly to allow me to paint the door and not even be able to tell I had repaired it.
