Great sander, good price
Great sander, which replaced a very old one which had belonged to my late grandfather. Much lighter, uses 1/4 sheet of sand paper, and works quickly.

excellent for fine finishing
This is my first pad sander. I always used the orbital sanders. The Dewalt pad sander is much better for fine finishing. It's very smooth and not as aggressive as the orbital sanders. It is easy to change paper on this sander. The only thing I don't like, is the soft on/off switch. I like a firm switch.

      IT is OK
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great sander for getting paper on and off quickly. Down side is that the cord is stiff and not very long, I prefer the makita soft and no kink cord with 8-9 feet of length. Also the on-off switch is in the same location and same color as the paper release button. not as user friendly as it could be and seeing that little bitty yellow line to indicate on. You guys can do better, Like your plunge router which is excellent and your 735 x planer which has great reviews and is my next purchase.

I expect high quality from DeWalt
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have several sanders and this is my favorite: light weight, does a great job and handles easily at any angle. I have learned from years of experience that DeWalt makes the finest tools available on the market today and their prices are always affordable. DeWalt is all I buy now.

          Well designed
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My palm sander works flawlessly and I was delighted with the dust collector that "actually worked". Simply item but WOW, what a difference this makes in overall operation.

Dust outlet does not fit standard shop vac hose
If you want to attach this to your shop vac hose, this will not work without purchasing an additional DeWalt hose adapter.

              Worked well until .......
Got this as a Xmas present. Used it 2 times and then couldn’t turn it off. Unplugged it. Pushed the switch to turn off. Plugged it back in. Started running as soon as I plugged it in again. Pushed switch to turn off several times. No luck turning it off. Have lots of Dewalt product, about 15 items or so with no problems , other than a mouse chewing on a belt in my mitre saw. Aaahhhh

Better than using your palm for more lazy activities
I found this sander to be the best use for my palm in order to get things done around the house, rather than being a couch potato. You don't want to use your palm in a lazy manner, and find yourself getting overweight.

Nice size to use, comfortable in small hands. It has much better sanding performance than my last palm sander and I appreciate that it collects most of the dust as a result of sanding. Fair price too, I would buy again.

                  Nice smooth balance.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was given this sander by a friend who was never going to use it. Boy is this thing nice.i like to have multiple sanders on hand on all my projects. My Dewalt sander always has 50 or 60 grit paper at all times. It so smooth with great power to handle the deepest machine marks left from other tools.

                      Nock those splinter off
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Use the sander to sand projects. Nocks the splinters off and smooths the wood well. Would recommend and buy another. Only wish it had more suction on the dust collection.

                        Excellent Sandpaper Grip!
I purchased the DeWalt Sander to replace my Craftsman block sander. Although I have been purchasing Craftsman for 50+ years and generally award them five stars, the sandpaper grips on their block sander is a complete disaster. At the hardware store I looked at all the major brands for replacement; the DeWalt was the only one with a truly well-engineered solution. The front is actually a clamp, which is unavailable on any other brand. The rear is a spring similar to all other brands but with one truly innovative feature--the spring applies equal pressure across the full with of the sandpaper, which none of the others have addressed. Thankfully, I can now use the sandpaper until it is worn out; not just until it rips itself off from inadequate retainer(s). I'm not surprised; I also have a DeWalt portable table saw because the engineering is light years ahead of the competition (specifically the front and rear rack and pinion guide system). The miter gauge is a piece of junk (I had to purchase a real one from another vendor) but the rest of the saw is a work of art. Kudos to your design team; the sander is a winner!

loved my other sanders the D26441,which seems to have more power-Also hate the way the sandpaper is held on-Cheaply made-motor quit after 5 uses-Hate it

                            Pretty Straightforward
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was given one of these around 20 years ago. I used it for many years, until the pad was nearly completely worn out. I decided I needed a new sander, and knew exactly what to buy. I like this sander because you can buy sheets of sandpaper and cut your own pieces. Save money compared to the discs.

                              Not bad, but still disappointing
I bought this primarily because my cheap sander's dust collection was a joke and I needed to do some sanding inside. I was going to buy the Ryobi after being very impressed with their orbital sander, but reviews convinced me to spend more on the DeWalt instead. I wish I had gone with the Ryobi, quite frankly. While this feels solidly built and has some nice features (ease of loading the sandpaper compared to cheaper models, great ergonomics), the dust collection is very disappointing. The dust bag never fills up at all and most of it ends up in the air, whereas my Ryobi random orbital sander has superb dust collection. Perhaps sheet sanders are inherently weaker in this area than random orbit sanders, I don't know. But I bought this hoping for good dust collection and for what I got, I could have paid much less for a cheaper model and been at least as happy.

Have had it for 3 weeks and used it to catch up on projects I'd postponed too long already. Arrived on time. Needs a storage case for sander, sandpaper, etc. so I bought one at Home Depot store for about $7. Does great work on small jobs.

                              Pallet Wood
Working With Pallet Wood: I can use this tool for 20 min at a time with no noticeable fatigue. Shaves off a lot with 60 grit sandpaper although it burns through sandpaper pretty quick so make sure you have enough sheets! It can reveal raw wood on a 2X4X3 in about 3 min per side if the board is smooth. Cord is a good length, it has two prongs so it can be used with any suitable extension cord. The vac pick up everything as long as the board is flat and doesnt blow anything noticeable out of the filter. I feel like the sandpaper lasts longer without using the hole punch. It actually buffs nails and screws to a sheen but going over them wrecks the sandpaper almost instantly - within 5 min. All in all this sander is crucial for light/medium sanding purposes. For heavy jobs a planer, hand belt sander, or a grinder and sanding wheel would be ideal. If you need something as thick as an 1/8 of an inch gouge removed this is not the tool (unless you have 30 min and a couple sheets of paper to spare). I try to sand with the grain, but no matter the direction it always comes out smooth for 60 grit. Haven't done any finishing sanding yet but I have no doubts it will not perform. I haven't tried the shop-vac connection yet either but the sander alone picks up nearly everything so I'm not worried there either. Great tool. Couldn't be happier with the purchase!
