Chuck shattered
Only used the tool once for a particular project and hung it on my rack. Went to use it a second time and noticed the chuck had shattered. I usually have good luck with Dewalt stuff so didn’t think twice about looking it over when I finished up my project.

Come with 2 Amp instead of 6 Amp battery
Purchased this kit, says it comes with a FlexVolt 6 Amp battery, it's a 2 Amp battery inside the bag, not the 6 Amp FlexVolt. Found that out when I get to the jobsite and open the kit. Very disappointed.

More Torque, Lighter weight, More POWER!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been testing this hammer drill/driver for well over 2 months now and can say with absolute certainty how much I LOVE this drill! My previous favorite was DeWALT's premium non-brushless drill, Wounded-Warrior style (DCD985) and I was curious how it would match up with this premium brushless hammer drill! The pros: - The drill feels really good in my hand. The ergonomics were well-designed - The speed selection (1-3) has a noticeable "click" when selecting. I personally like this because I know I'm not going to bump the speed selector, but I also like the feel of setting the speed I want. - The light option (to stay on longer and brighter) is super helpful when working in dark places - The actual torque is unbelievable! I put it head-to-head with my older DeWALT and this brushless drill proved its worth! The brushless component drives longer and harder by FAR! - The hammer drill handle is ESSENTIAL when running high speeds and bearing through hard material. You don't want to strain your hand or injure yourself! Use the handle! It's easy to put on and take off, and the extra length provides needed stability! The cons: - NONE that I could tell! It's heavier than my impact driver but this is a premium HAMMER DRILL! It has so much torque that you need to exercise caution while working. But in my opinion these are GOOD things! Summary - if you want a premium drill, and one that will last you for YEARS to come (and then some), get this one! You won't be disappointed!

        Love the upgrades!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this drill and did not realize how versatile it would be! It is a comfortable weight using the 20v max battery to use all day. Its easy to swap out the FLEXVOLT battery when you need the hammer option. Another perk is the LED light with spotlight mode and variable brightness. This drill will probably end up replacing my current drill/drive.

          Great power.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this a month ago and it has been great. I have use it for everything from putting tapcons in concrete to mixing drywall mud. I kept my old corded version in the truck for awhile because I was unsure that this would be strong enough. But it has done everything that it could do and more. I would highly recommend the drill.

            Very powerful drill!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I took this hammer drill through its paces. First I used a 5/8" spade bit and then used a 1" spade bit. I drilled through a 2 x6. Then I took 3 forstner bits, a 1" an inch and a 1 1/2" and 2 1/8" and drilled through the 2×6 as well. It cut like butter. Then I went to auger bits I used a 3/4 inch auger bit and a 1 1/8" auger bit and I drilled them through a hard yellow pine 4 by 4 again, it cut like butter.

              Cordless hammer drill is excellent!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] A few weeks ago I got this cordless Dewalt hammer drill for testing. It has been an excellent and enjoyable tool to use and is by far the best cordless hammer drill that I have ever owned or used! No complaints whatsoever. I highly recommend you could pick one up if you’re in the market for such a tool.

                Powerful Drill
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve had this Hammer Drill about a month. During this time, I’ve used it to drill into Brick, Concrete and Wood. Since the original charge, it hasn’t been back on the charger. The Flexvolt battery holds a charger for a long time while producing a lot of torque. My favorite features are its versatility and the light coming from the handle so your work area is well lit. I own SEVERAL Dewalt 20v tools and this is becoming one of my favorite! I highly recommend the DCD999T1 Hammer Drill!!

                  Awesome Drill!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used both features on the Dewalt Hammer Drill/Driver. I immediately noticed the power and torque when using both features. I hammer drilled some holes on the pavement and the drill did not skip a beat or got stuck, nor did I notice the drill getting hot, which is a plus for me since heat can shorten the life of any power tool. I also like that I can use a range or Dewalt batteries with the drill. The LED light is awesome. It’s very bright and spotlights the whole drilling area. It also has 3 lighting selection to choose from. If you’re in the market for a drill try this drill you won’t be disappointed.

                    A Beast!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wasn’t sure about a drill/hammer drill combo. I wasn’t sure it would be strong enough to drill concrete like the Dewalt SDS. It delivered. I drilled a 3/8 hole into old 5in thick concrete. It drilled though it like butter. The large side handle gives you a lot of control and downforce. I like the rubber bumpers on the side so you can lay it down and not scratch your tool all up. I’m all for putting the tools through the paces, but I like to take care of my tools so they take care of me when I need them to. I like the all metal chuck. It doesn’t feel cheap. The 6 amp hr 60v battery is a must when drilling all day. It has more power than you would ever need. And of course the LED light has options for how long it stays on. Great for dark corners. All and all this drill is a beast for the job site. I only had one complaint and that is it is loud when drilling concrete. Don’t forget your PPE.

                      Excellent drill
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This drill is typical Dewalt quality, excellent, powerful and the battery lasts a long time. The LED is in the right spot to illuminate the job. I used this drill to assemble houses for my goats and it was unstoppable. I have used Dewalt in the past as a firefighter and this drill lived up to what I thought it would do. The only issues I have with this drill is the large battery makes it a little unbalanced and the battery fit was a little loose.

A monster drill for the toughest jobs
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a Dewalt DCD790 that I picked up in 2014 that been my primary drill since then. This new drill is an upgrade is almost every way! More power, new functions, and improved design. -Function Let me start off by talking about the new light. Not only is it brighter, by a lot, it lets you keep it on continuously via selector switch by the battery. You can practically use the thing as a work light is so bright on the max setting! Very useful when you have to look around in a dim environment or light up your workspace. The clutch mechanism has been updated since I got my old drill and it’s been improved. While in the 3rd speed setting, the drill offers the same fine clutch control as before but it’s now electronic rather than mechanical. It will detect the amount of torque being applied and will halt the motor at the appropriate time. There’s thankfully no more loud clutch rippin’ once you hit the limit, much better now. The chuck has also been improved to stay tight during use. There’s some sort of extra resistance applied when locking down the chuck along side the ratcheting mechanism. The first time I tightened it down it got stuck and after a good heft, it backed off. I’m happy to report, it tightens and loosens just fine now after the first use. The flexvolt advantage is a nice touch to round out the drill in function. I don’t often do jobs that need this kind of power, but it’s convenient to have that extra oomph on tap. This thing rips through wood and concrete while on the 60V battery, it’s seriously impressive! Drop it down into the 1st speed setting when you need some wicked torque too. You can also slap a light weight 2ah 20V battery when you just don’t need the extra power and want something more compact and lighter. The *flex*ability is super handy. -Ergonomics One thing I’ve always like about Dewalt is the ergonomics and looks. It has the same classic design and these 20V tools have had for years and for good reason. It still feels premium in hand and the switches and buttons are spot on. The speed selector is a bit stiff, but I expect it to break in over time. Yes, this is drill is bigger and heavier than my old DCD790, but for the greatly added capability they stuffed in there I am satisfied. -Value If you get the full kit, this is a great value for what all you get. The drill, battery, and charger will easily go for more that what you’ll pay for the full kit. It comes with a tool bag and belt clip too! I was pretty excited to get a 60V battery that now opens up the opportunity to get some 60V tools in the future. Gotta love that flexvolt versatility! -Overall If you need a hammer drill, go ahead and grab this kit! It opens up a lot of options for future tools and you’ll get a supremely capable tool too. This one won’t disappoint!

The DCD999 was sent me last week and I must say I am very impressed with the performance this drill delivers. Using it as a hammer drill, the 60v flex battery really packs a punch in the power.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I installed some new windows in cinder block walls. They are solid cement. I put a masonry bit on this hammer drill and it went through the wall like butter! I had 6 holes piloted out in under 5 minutes. Such a great tool to have in my arsenal!!

This drill is a little heavy for some females to use; however, my husband loves it and put it to good use immediately installing a handrail on our home for elderly family that visits. This kit comes with a 1/2 in. cordless hammer drill/driver, a 360° side handle which makes it easy to hold hold onto the drill, a FLEXVOLT® battery, a 6 amp charger which only took an hour to charge the battery, a hook for your belt, and all in a kit bag. It has a light with 3 different brightness settings which lasts up to 20 minutes if working where you need it

I got the Dewalt Hammerdrill to replace an older, corded unit that reached the end of its life. My first impression upon opening the box and handling the unit was that its of high quality. From the rugged keyless chuck to the heft of the unit and the well designed and chunky battery, I know I will get years if use from this drill/driver. I particularly like the accessory handle. For years, these handles simply screwed into 1 part of the drill body but Dewalt designed a great one that attaches via a simple clamp to the chuck body for easy customization. You can choose 3 settings for more or less torque which makes powering thru most substances a breeze.i have used it to make pilot holes in concrete then drive in Tapcon screws ,which were an absolute breeze. I also love the battery protector that you slide over the battery terminals when not in use keeping the battery safe and terminals clean.

For those interested in country of origin, the hammer tool, battery, charger and accessories were made in China. Looking for a hammer drill that worked well and does not weigh a ton, this is the unit to purchase. Tried to stress the unit driving 5 inch 3/8 drill into fresh stumps and it drilled 11 holes to depth in less than one minute. Unit comes with a belt clip, but seems a little too heavy to carry that way. All the pieces, and some extra drill bits, fit nicely into the pouch. Battery comes with a cover that is not apparent as to how to remove, until you notice there is an eject button on the front of the battery. No where mentioned in the instructions.

This is the drill to own. If I had to pick one tool to take overseas to build things, this is the tool. This drill has a three speed transmission, so you can tailor the RPM to whatever the material and bit need. This drill runs fine on 20V batteries, so it’s compatible with the rest of the DeWalt 20V line. I own over a dozen 20V batteries so that’s never a problem. But wait, this tool is a Flexvolt compatible tool. Sure any DeWalt 20V tool can run a Flexvolt battery, and the Flexvolt battery will generally provide a big increase in run time. But this drill has what is referred to as Flexvolt Advantage. Attach the provided 60V battery and this tool suddenly has not only a potentially longer run time, but it also has a significant power increase. I could feel the increased torque produced by this drill. Watch the attached video. I use a 5 amp 20V battery and then the 6 amp 60V Flexvolt battery. It was astonishing how much quicker that 1.5” spade bit was able to chew through that dry pine 2x6. The 20V battery immediately dropped from 3 LEDs to 2 LEDs after a single hole. The 60V battery allowed the drill to jump through that board like it was on springs. That old 2x6 pine has been drying in my garage for more than a decade and is as hard as a rock. Later in the video, I put a fresh 4 amp 20V battery on my Flexvolt advantage 7&¼” circular saw. It cut the board just fine like a battery powered saw should. I changed to the 60V Flexvolt battery and made two quick cuts. The saw felt like it had the power of some of my corded saws. This kit is great! It comes with the drill with detachable side handle, a strong charger, a bag and that awesome 6amp 60V battery. I’ll be buying more of those batteries.

This DeWalt 20 volt brushless hammer drill/driver kit is a well-thought-out package that includes the drill/driver as well as a handy zippered carrying case, belt clip, very solid side handle, 6 ampere battery, instruction manual, and a charger. The drill/driver will take a bit up to ½ inch in diameter so this will work well with a wide range of heavy duty drill bits. The supplied battery and charger (see picture) are compatible with other DeWalt tool batteries so this ability to interchange the batteries with my other DeWalt tools is a great convenience! The drill/driver was very easy to use with its textured grip (see picture), keyless chuck sleeve (see picture), and side handle (see picture) which also gave a good grip with its textured surface (see picture). That is important when using this tool as a driver! I highly recommend this set because it is well-made, and I found the carrying case to be the perfect size, allowing me the extra room to stash an extra battery and a few other things just in case!

DeWALT DCD999 FlexVolt Advantage 1/2” Hammerdrill / Drill Driver Simply put...this is without question a powerhouse of a drill. With the ability to run any 20 volt battery alone, this is quite an animal. Now, with the flexibility to run 60 volt and 20 volt, both battery platform investments are now one. If you are invested in both platforms, efficiencies are born when you can grab a 20 volt battery perform 90% of the work on a given job, grab a 60 volt for those truly demanding applications and FlexVolt Advantage was born. I enjoy construction work and what makes it truly enjoyable for me are great tools. Until now when it came to drills before it was my DCD996. I’m proud to now hold my new drill, the DCD999. With an 1-1/8” Forstner bit and all of my weight, I could not stall the electric motor. With a 2” hole saw again I couldn’t stall it. The drill is smooth and the 3-speed transmission is quite handy. I’m glad DeWALT carried over the LED light design from the previous generation. The stability handle is longer than before and understandably, now I know why. The DCD999 is the new King in my shop!

I was so excited when the package arrived today, but turned out to be a disappointment. The first thing I noticed was the wrong battery that was sent. The battery that was sent differed from the pictured. From the other reviews, I learned that the battery I received was the first generation and the one that was advertised is the newer one. That said, I emailed Becca (who replied to the other two reviewers that had the same issue as me) at wecare@sbdinc.com. Still awaiting a response from them. Hope this gets resolved.

The new FlexVolt Advantage Drill is great, it has plenty of power for any task. The new 6amp battery charger is fast and a nice addition. My only complaint is the battery that came with the charger is not what was advertised. Not what I expect from DeWalt. Buyer Beware!

This hammer drill is just what we needed for some basement cinder block drilling for some planned renovations. Hopefully you've read the contents, and know that you need to purchase the battery and charger separately, unless you happen to already own one of the compatible battery types. We have quite a few tools running off of the 20v Max battery, and this adds to our collection. As always, this DeWalt tool is sturdy and heavy-duty. You will not be disappointed.

I decided on this drill to use in times I can not get any power to use the standard corded drill. I needed to use the 5ah battery to get enough power to get through treated lumber and brick. I liked the ergonomic fit in my hand, it was comfortable while drilling through the material. I would have preferred a locking chuck over a hand tighten chuck.

I needed to drill a 2-1/2 inch hole through a 4 x 6 in order to run electric conduit from underground up into my shed I’m building. I drilled the hole before I built the shed. I have several brands of hammer drills and none of them had the power to bore through the wood with the bit I was using. You can see the bit in one of the photos. It has three different speeds, I used it on the low speed and on Hammer and had no problem boring right through it. I do recommend using the side handle that comes with it. Several little things about this Model I like, the built-in light that has three different modes, one is very bright, the three speeds, the belt clip which is a plus for me because a lot of times I just hang it from the back of my tool belt when I'm up on a ladder. Also the flex volt system is nice, I have several tools that use this battery so that's why I bought it without a battery. It has a great bit grip system, you tighten it up by hand and then turn it approximately a quarter of a turn, you can feel it a lock onto the bit once that happens.

I love tools, especially kool tools. This Dewalt 1/2 inch hammer drill is just what you need in your tool pack to make any drilling in concrete a breeze. I didn't realize how much easier a job can be with a tool like this. I ordered it without the flex battery and use my smaller battery but the flex battery will make the tool perform even better. I always liked Dewalt and this drill does not disappoint.
