I've been using homeowner grade drills. They are sure OK. But they strain on some projects. These DeWalt tools are made to WORK! Weigh a little more but spin faster, stronger, and a lot longer! I expect my low-price cordless drill to force breaks for recharging, but these substantial FlexVolt tools go on and on. They also turn-down to low speed or torque for delicate screwing. Work lights let you find your mark easily. The worklight on the big drill is very bright and can be set to stay on as a general work light. The 1/4-Hex collet on the Driver works so smoothly. Generous beltclip hangs well even on a thick belt. These plastic cases are very sturdy, with curves to shrug-off drops and falls. The carry-bag is a treat. Sturdy. Not heavy. Good handles. Neat touches are the wire in the rim so it opens wide, and the full-length feet so it sits and slides easily. I do miss having a magnet to hold a few screws or a bit. The charger re-fills the massive batteries very fast. However at 22 degrees F it refused to start a charge: the manual says you have to be above 40. So if it is cold like it is here, you'll want to keep the batteries someplace less frigid. The "FlexVolt" technology is interesting. The "60V" battery pack is really three 20V batteries. The connector on each tool can take large power at 60V for huge holes or hammer-drilling, or at 20V with very extended run-time for smaller work like the impact driver. *** 6 years later: re-posting to say I still use these tools often.

This is a Great Hammer Drill & Impact Driver with Fast Charger. The hammer drill is a little on the heavy side as expected for the power it brings. The one I purchased is comes with the 8ah and 2ah batteries as I already have a few Flexbolt batteries. The charger is great amd charges way faster than the standard black charger

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] DCD996: Build Quality - sturdy, durable, not overly heavy but also not cheap-feeling in the hand. Great chuck quality, and selector switches are rugged. Brushless motor should be great for longer motor life. Performance - great performance, hammer function is a must for masonry drilling; no problems here. DCF887: Build Quality - same as above. Really like the quick-change 1/4" hex chuck that lets you change bits with one hand. Performance - absolutely love this impact driver; I'm trying to find projects around the house just so I can use it more. The built-in LEDs really help in poorly lit areas. DCB606 (6.0 Ah Flexvolt Battery): Build Quality - rugged, durable. Nothing much more to say here. Performance - long-lasting, no issues with holding a charge yet. DCB203 (2.0 Ah 20V Max Battery): Build Quality - same as above Performance - same as above DCB118 (20V Max Fan-Cooled Fast-Charger) Build Quality - not bad; the fan vents that cool the charger while it's in use can be susceptible to sawdust / other particulates so just keep it away from those areas. Performance - great. I can charge the 6.0 Ah Flexvolt battery that comes with this kit in under and hour, and teh 2.0 Ah 20V Max battery in even less time. Fan noise is negligible.

Like all tool guys on the net say, never buy “just a tool” always wait for the sales and bundle things. I bought this back in April when HD had the Milwaukee and Dewalt sale. It took 2 weeks for the kit to come in, but hey, it is the apocalypse at the moment. I used the HD Credit card which gave me 50 dollars off of 300 bringing my total on this kit down to 300 dollars. Doing the math and counting all 7 pieces in the kit (batteries/charger incl in the 7) this brings my per piece price down to 43 dollars a tool. I dont see how one could wrong with that. Always wait for the sales and bundles. This kit is a very good buy when on sale.

Great tool set for a great price!!! Two batteries and a fast charging charger is a very very great gift .Because fast charger costs the least $89.00, 20v Flex volt 6.0 ah costs $159.00 And the other small battery costs some money also. I got all five items from Home Depot for $279.99 Very happy about those tools Especially impact gun has also 3 speed switch so awesome.

Just wish the impact bit shaft was a little more stiff as the longer bits tend to shake badly because of how loose it is but it hasnt stopped or slowed me down. Great tools! As for the flexvolt batteries 1 of them lasted me 3 days of screwing forenzes all day

Both drills are very well constructed. Batteries provide enough juice for and task.

love the tools and the power and ease of no chord. my only small note is that the flex battery does not last as long as I thought it would. In cold weather especially the battery seems to work about the same as a 4 amp hour xr battery. on the whole dewalt cordless tools have exceeded my expectations for functionality and replaced my chorded tools.

I have only used the two drills so far and both worked great and are very powerful! The 20v battery seems to have a long charge, it still had a full charge after putting in shelves. I got this kit as an early Christmas present this year. But so far, my experience with the tools couldn't be better

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is such an amazing kit.. it's got the best of both worlds.. the flex volt battery is such a plus, and when attached to the hammer drill or the impact gun.. they run forever even under high load.. I love the new placement of the light on the dcd996, and the feature to change the brightness is incredible..including a 20 minute work light if on the highest setting . Brilliant.. these are some tough tools and work in under some terrible conditions.. and keeps on chooching . Keep up the good work Dewalt

Ive had these for 5 months they worked very well , i was using them a few mintues ago then the 60v battery caught on fire in the back of my truck. I dont recommend it Dewalt after this i liked there products but this changed my mind.

This product helped us get this huge project done in a third of the time without breaking our backs. Worth every cent!

Amazing power and battery life

This was an upgrade for me. More powerful and flexible. The impact guns power is adjustable. I bought this on sale for $299.

I have a large line up of all dewalt tools and use them everyday as a contractor, but this is hands down the most used day in and day out. I love the speed adjustment on the impact can be gentle enough to install delicate screws such as shower trim and door knobs that don't need to be over tightened or get stripped heads fro too much torque. The hammer drill has a newer 3 light adjustment that is bright enough for any use or needs and also can stay on for up to 20seconds which can be very useful if in a dim lit area. I have the non brushless And this brishless nwere version And hands down I feel the hammer drill mode is one of the stronger features compared to the non brushless version.

Great tools! Much lighter and more powerful tools. I had Dewalt 18v set for last eight years, just updated to 20v. Loving it!

Go check your local store right now - don't rely on the HD website or what their Hardware guy who answers the phone says. I didn't think this was available so I originally got the Ridgid Limited Edition for $299 which actually works great. Although I liked it, I really wanted this set but saw on the website it was unavailable and had a ton of questions asking when was it going to be back in stock. I finally decided to look for myself and the store near me in Sugar Land had two. I spotted it in the back-stock above the Dewalt display and asked someone to get it. He told me he had actually put it up there earlier today b/c he didn't know where it went (despite the huge sign they have on the wall across from the power tools advertising it with the correct sku number 1001-850-107 underneath the sign in the blank space where the box goes). I just got through returning the Ridgid set and started using this one a little bit tonight. Love it so far but will update when I have a chance to use it more.

Using Dewalt power tools for more than a decade, no mistake whatsoever..

Top notch tool set, no cons except I wish this came with a hard case and not just a contractor bag. The hammer drill is the fastest on the market with the most BPMs available in a cordless drill. Speed 1 is great for mixing thinset or joint compound, and boring very large holes, speed 2 is perfect for long screws and drilling in wood, speed 3 perfect for masonry. The impact driver is great, have used all three speeds for various jobs and cannot complain, for those complaining about speed 1, it's for tiny cabinet screws, door hardware, and handles not for sinking anything deep. Speed 2 works great for just about every carpentry screw I can think of, and speed 3 for using deep well sockets, lag bolts, tapcons, etc. Battery charger is the most innovative yet with DeWalt, finally adding a fan to pull hot air off the battery while charging, Makita is the only other brand I know that does this. All these brands have great stuff, Home Depot rocks.

Been using Dewalt drills for over 20 years on construction and home jobs. It was time for a new set up and I gave in to Buying this pack. Love it so far. The light control is great. The 60v battery lasts a very long time. The only reason for not having 5 stars is the battery gets to feel a bit heavy after awhile.

Not even sure where to start on these American made cordless tools from Dewalt. I fell in love with them right out of the box. Loaded with common sense features such as LED lights that actually light the work area to a low vibration hammer drill that won't loosen your fillings. Out of the box setup was a piece of cake. The instruction manual is ok. Not a huge fan of the bags manufacturers are using today, but it's durable quality.

Great drill/impact combo. The drill is super powerful. Plumber friend had a corded Milwaukee super hawg and for some reason it wasn't drilling all the way through the joist. Threw a Bosch self feed paddle bit on and cranked them out with this drill no problem. The impact sinks screws super fast and the lights on both products are a great feature. The only thing that seems to be a bummer is the impact on low mode wont drive a deckmate into a doug fir 2x4... but maybe that's not what it's intended for.
