Mowed entire yard and had 1 bar of power left. Yard is approximately 1/4 acre. Also it slows down the blade when it is not cutting grass. I had it set at level 3 for blade height and It did stall a couple of times in high thick St. Augustine grass but easy to restart, The mower was easy to assemble and is adjustable in height to cut grass close or high, I would recommend this lawn mower to anyone that has a small amount of grass to cut..

Dewalt Quality. I was hesitant going from a gas to electric mower – not any more. There are some great features to this mower. It comes almost completely assembled out of the box. The deck and handle are metal, the rest is heavy plastic. My only criticism is the poor assembly manual – too small of print and illustrations. The hardest part of assembly was the grass bag catcher. It can mulch, side discharge or bag the clippings. The bag fills completely with debris when utilized. It comes with and requires 2 20-volt batteries to operate and 2 chargers. One great plus is that the mower folds up into a vertical position for easy, compact storage – see picture. Also, the design of the knobs to fold it up is a simple twist that makes it easy to place it next to a garage wall. Cutting height adjustment are easily changed. It takes a little getting used to the order of operations to get it to turn on, it’s not just a simple pull of the handle. The front wheel drive has nice traction tires that will help in grass. Past mowers had smooth type tires that wouldn’t grip. The variable speed control works well. The noise level is higher than expected, but no where near a gas mower. A very nice quality mower.

Mowing has never been easier with this cordless self-propelled lawnmower. Never had a battery powered lawnmower before this is great, no more pulling up the cord no more cleaning out the gas tank… This moves very very swiftly over the grass, and perfect for my side lawn. We are a zero lot line so the 21 inch width is perfect for the other side of the house. Comes with two batteries and two chargers, I prefer side clipping discharge over the bag or the mulching, because your lawn is very thin. I’ve always had a self-propelled so I’m very happy with this, it’s easy to push on the lawn. Already my neighbor asked me about it, and asked to try it on his lawn.

Overall for $500, this Dewalt 21.5 inch 20 volt lithium ion battery operated walk behind self propelled lawn mower is an excellent value for the quality you get. It was very easy to assemble though the grass catcher bag was a little tricky and the directions were useless. It says the self propelled wheels have a variable speed adjustment but I can barely see the difference between the fastest setting and the slowest setting. It comes with two 10 AH 20 volt batteries and you use them both at the same time. The battery compartment is big enough to hold the bigger 60 volt flex battery. It would be nice if the battery port cover door would lock into place and/or open far enough to stay open but as it is, it opens at a 90 degree angle and usually closes on you. There is a logo of a battery just at the opening of the battery port cover that I'm not sure what it does and the manual does not reference it either. The grass catcher needs to be emptied when its approximately 60% full otherwise it will block the chute. The wheels are easy to adjust to the cutting height you need. Its quite, powerful and is perfect for small lawns. This is the first battery operated lawn mower I have owned so only time will tell just how durable it will be in the long run.

If you are wanting a cordless, self propelled, battery operated lawn mower then this Dewalt mower is the one you need. This machine is well put together with quality parts. Using this mower is so easy. The two 20 volt batteries supply plenty of power and will last a long time. This mower has many features from six height adjustment to mulching grass. Great mower, great brand. Highly recommend.

Even though this mower is made for professional use, the average homeowner will find it cuts smaller lawns as well. With almost an hour runtime you can get a lot of grass cut. The adjustable self propelled function allows you to choose your pace of cut. The mower increases torque automatically in taller grass. It has 6 cutting heights from 1.5 inch to 4.5 inches. With this mower you can mulch, bag or discharge the clippings to the side. I was able to bag leaves with no raking. It has a removable key for safely cleaning or repairing the mower. My wife liked the easy start and stop. The batteries are easy to install and remove to charge them. The handle is adjustable to make it more comfortable for you and can easily be folded down for storage.

WOW! This mower is excellent and powerful for sure! I live on a large 5 acre parcel but there's so many "small" places I can't cut with my ride on mower. This one fit the bill for cutting those smaller areas. Self propelled and adjustable cutting heights make is perfect for me. 2 batteries and 2 charges INCLUDED in the package too! It's no really heavy and is easy to maneuver in tight spaces. I like DeWalt products and this one passes all the tests!!

Decided to get into the electric lawn mower craze and decided to give the DEWALT 21.5 in. 20-Volt MAX Lithium-Ion Cordless Battery Walk Behind Self Propelled Mower a try. What's really neat is it uses the standard 20 volt dewalt battery pack rather than a specialty one so I can use them with my other tools. Assembly is very easy, just unfold the handle and screw it together. You'll need to assemble the mulch bag as well. Operation is as simple as charge and go. There is a safety key along with a dual switch startup. You'll need to continually hold the bar back to keep it running. If you let go you have to do the dual switch steps again. The self propelled feature is strong, kinda felt like I had to run to keep up. Super quiet compared to my old gas mower. I did some test runs only as it's currently winter and the grass doesn't need mowing. Does well at picking up the leaves too. Spring will be the true test to see if the 60 minute run time is accurate. Fold it up for vertical storage.

The DEWALT 21.5 inch 20 volt lithium-ion cordless battery walk behind self propelled mower is a good well made mower. I found electric mowers are a bit different than gas mowers. No gas and no oil and it swings a much lighter duty blade. It cuts great in 1 to 4 inch grass but must be raised up higher for deeper grass. It has 6 adjustable heights to help you get your job done. It has a good front wheel drive and runs about an hour per charge carrying 2-20 volt batteries on board and is much less noisy than a gas mower. It also comes with a grass catcher bag or side discharge funnel. It is very easy to control and has a key and a 2 hand start features to protect from children getting hurt trying to use it.

As easy to assemble as it is to operate. Once out of the box, you only have three pieces to attach. First, the two handle locks, which attach the upper handle to the mower extensions, and the safety key, which fits into the rear portion (bottom) of the ON/OFF button. Then, charge your 20V batteries and insert them into the mower and go! Raise the Battery Port Cover and push each battery into the receiver on the upper portion of the bay. When you are ready to cut your lawn, gently depress the forward portion of the ON/OFF switch, hold it, and pull the bail handle back. After a couple seconds when the mower starts to run, you can release the ON/OFF switch, as the mower is now kept running by the bail handle. Release the bail handle, and the mower stops. Repeat the procedure to begin cutting again. The mower comes with two battery chargers, so you can quickly charge both batteries at the same time and you’re ready for the next mowing. My lot is approximately ½ acre, and the mower cut the entire yard with no effort at all. The lower handles control the speed of the self-propelled mower. The further you draw back toward you, the faster the mower goes. You can easily adjust the speed to your walking speed. The sensor raises the blade speed if you encounter high grass, then returns it to normal speed when the tall grass has been cut. The mower also comes with an easily attachable discharge guard, should you want to have clippings blown back out on the lawn, instead of bagging or mulching. Best of three worlds! And the grass catcher bag easily attaches to the back of the mower, after lifting the rear cover. And better yet? The 20V batteries can be used on other 20V DeWalt tools that I have, so I’m never with a spare backup. One very versatile system!

Quiet & Light! Get Rid of your gas mower!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The quality construction of this mower is the first thing that catches your eye. It is well built and ergonomic! The bag is a big plus for more manicured yards. My favorite feature is the built in safety key that disables the mower to keep my toddlers safe around the unit when it is not in use. I thought I had to pull the batteries when not in use like I have to with my current cordless string trimmer. When I went to put it together I was amazed at how light the unit is! The push handle folds quick and easily &The grab handles are great for picking it up to store it. I also like the one handle for height adjustment. This mower is so much lighter than my previous lawn "tank" mower, an aluminum chassis self propelled unit. It is actually easier to mow grass with this mower than with my self propelled unit due to the weight difference. I did lose about 4" of cutting width but I will gladly trade it off for the hassle free use. The battery life is perfect for my 1/4 acre yard. I will add a flex volt trimmer and leaf blower with more batteries on the same platform. This will get my garage rid of the gas smell and premix oil permanently! And the best part of changing over to cordless IT STARTS EVERY TIME! instead having to pull start gas engines with the anxiety of whether they will start. I could go on for days but if you want to switch from Gas to Cordless the technology is here and De Walt has a great platform with many different tools for you!

    Easy to use push mower
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If you already have the 20v system this is a great addition. I have an acre of property to mow and use my rider, this unit allows me to get up close to things I used to have to use a weed eater for. There is no mess like a weed eater or the damage if you get too close. You could easily mow a decent size yard on fully charged batteries. It will mow 10” and taller grass if you let the blades get up to mowing speed first. The bagger is easy to install or remove. It folds up to take very little space. To fold up only takes twisting 2 knobs a quarter turn. There are a couple useful safety features including a removable “key”. The charge level of the batteries is easy to see while operating. The 1 lever deck height adjustment is very easy to use and well thought out. The unit I got came with two very large DEWALT batteries, they would’ve cost quite a bit on their own. Try it if you are considering a battery powered mower, it’s not underpowered at all.

      I'm a Believer!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm a Believer! As a bona fide skeptic, I had serous doubts as to the reliability of a battery-powered lawnmower. Not any more! The DeWalt 20 inch DCMW220X2 model 20-volt Max Lithium-Ion Cordless Walk Behind Push Mower (with TWO 9.0 Ah batteries & charger included), however, is truly a cut above. Right out of the box (I read the entire straightforward and logical owner's manual) it was a piece of cake to assemble. Without even having to use any tools, it took me less than three minutes to complete. The upper handle knobs and lower handle locks that securely attached the entire handle assembly were a no-brainer. Attaching the bag and mulching insert was even simpler. That said, the mower does a superb job for its class. It has plenty of power to spare. It comes with nifty features; such as: it saves $$$ not having to buy or store gas and oil; there are front and rear carrying handles for lifting; it has a one-handle mower height adjustment lever that makes raising or lowering the cutting deck height -- child's play; there are fewer places like narrow crevices for grass clippings to cling to than a typical gas-powered mower; there is no fuel-related mess or spillage, ever; it comes equipped with a nice long and comfortable main bail handle combo; it comes with a large light-touch on/off switch & clever safety key; it has never-flat tires that never need lubricating, and grass doesn't cling to them as much as it does on other mowers; the main body will never rust; it fits nicely into small areas because of its small footprint; getting to the cutting blade is much easier than most because of the lighter weight of the machine and because spilling fuel is never an issue; installing the batteries is simple and yet secure; and it's designed for practical storage by taking up a minimal amount of floor space. My wife, who is a petite 5'3" and a mere 120 pounds, liked it too. Her first impression was how easy it was to handle, and how well it performed. "Starting and stopping the mower," she enthusiastically noted, "was so much easier than the gas-powered counterpart." The mower really is "light on its feet." To illustrate: I own a John Deere lawn tractor and a Toro self-propelled Walk-Behind mulching mower as well, and have roughly 3/4's of an acre of dense Bermuda and Fescue grass from which to deal with; so I know the value of having good tools. To make matters even more challenging, I have dozens of large and small trees and shrubs to navigate around. Having a smaller more maneuverable mower, therefore, is as important as it is necessary. The DeWalt mower, consequently, is truly a blessing. Not only is it lightweight, it finely mulches grass without leaving unsightly clumps, as well as collecting nasty yard debris with the bag attachment. It's impressive. In fact, the added weight while using the bagger actually serves to help produce smooth wheel imprint lines for those who enjoy lawn-striping aesthetics. But because I was eager to put this mower to the test, I also used it on large open areas, including sloped areas and deep gullies. Even after 68 minutes of mowing an area in my front yard of around 6,000 square feet, it still had a charge. When I used it a second time on a different spot, I couldn't help but to notice how all the indicator lights were still fully illuminated after roughly 25 minutes of running. Two thumbs up for making the grade without having to reach for more batteries or wait to recharge the ones that came with the mower. In sum, the pros far outweigh the non-existent cons. It is also a much quieter than gas-powered mowers, and a cinch to keep clean. Two thumbs up. I couldn't be more pleased with this product; which reminds me, the 9 Ah batteries are awesome! They recharge quickly too. The only "negative" I can honestly say about this (pleasant surprise) DeWalt lawnmower is that it includes a single bay battery charger, which only allows one battery to be charged at a time. Luckily I have additional DeWalt chargers, but it would be nice to have a single unit to charge both. As a suggestion, it would be convenient to have an additional removable internal bag accessory for adding sand (for ballast) to place inside the mower's primary bag when the mulching insert plug is installed. The reason is to allow superior lawn-striping to those who pride themselves on the resulting appearance. A water bottle holder or cell phone clamp to attach to the handle would be nice as well. NOTE: Our lawns, especially on the north side of the property, usually accumulates a thick layer of dew each morning that can last well past noon before it fully evaporates. Knowing this, and despite temperatures being higher, I usually wait until later in the afternoon to begin mowing to minimize clogging or clumping. This makes the mower performance much more efficient and the visual results superior. It also works well just before sunset. What's more, I always use the weed-wacker trimmer FIRST because it tosses the odd sized clippings out to where they can be mulched with the regular grass for a cleaner/neater finishing touch. On average, and during the peak growing season, our lawn needs to be mowed twice a week to prevent it from getting out of control. The more it rains, though, the more difficult it gets; so staying on top of it really matters. This mower is, when all is said and done, well-suited to handle average size lawns, and is an excellent tool for making the task of cleaning up difficult areas painless. Those who live in the city or throughout suburbia should love it. Well done DeWalt!

        Great quality mower.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this as from Dewalt sampling program to nbn test and review. First initial impression was it was made well. I work for a major lawnmower and snowblower company which is red. There slogan .... you can count on us. So I know about how lawnmowers are assembled. That being said DeWalt definitely has a good product here. Nice solid construction. Easy to use handle adjustment for deck height. Simple start up. If you have a well taken care of flat yard it mows good. Plenty of power to take care of small yards. Easy to use the bagger option and simple to empty. Mulcher works the best for my style. The batteries and single slot for charging the 2 batteries need to be upgraded in my opinion. Takes to long to charge one battery at a time. I think they should add two more batteries and make it self propelled instead or a push mower. The bail for the safety kill switch is very quick to kill the unit off. That could use a better design. This was the only battery operated lawnmower I have ever used. It would be best used for small flat lots well maintained. Really high grass the unit kills a lot.

Edge cutting is awesome, built is top quality!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] For my 30 x 40 lawn in NYC, this might be an overkill :-) . My unit comes with 2 9ah battery, but I was able to finish my small but wet lawn with 2 5ah battery! I can imagine it can easily cut twice the size of my lawn with 2 5ah battery. The quality of the mower is strong and tough! And best of all, it can tuck away easily, the handle has an adjustment and folds to the front for vertical storage. I love it, it is so quiet, and always ready.. .press down and cut!

8+ hr charge for 20 min of mowing
I use this to knock down the edges of my yard and hit areas my rider can’t get to. Yesterday I used it for about a half hour on regular grass with an unknown charge. It was still charging after 7 hours last night so it sat overnight. I continued on trim work and bigger weeds and it died after 20 minutes., now for another 8 hour charge. I gave away my gas mower for this :( Don’t be me. You can buy multiple gas mowers for the price of this one and every single one of them will outperform it.

              Terrible performance and battery life
I got this mower less than a year ago after my gas one broke. I was excited to switch to electric and went with DeWalt since I already had about a dozen other DeWalt power tools and lawn tools and have loved them. Right away this lawnmower was disappointing. So a little context, I live in the suburbs on a 1/4 acre lot so I don't have a huge yard and I'm not mowing through tall prairie grass. Right out of the box the lawnmower would not even mow my front lawn on one set of the included 10ah batteries, let alone the back as well. This turned mowing the lawn into a three day task when you factor in charge time. I emailed DeWalt and they sent me a second set of batteries which did help but then as hot summer months approached I started running into issues where the lawnmower would stop working because the batteries would get too hot and go into a thermal protection mode. I would run one set of batteries until they overheated, throw those in the refrigerator while I used the other set, and just repeated that until I finished mowing the lawn. I'm just under a year in and now the batteries have degraded so much that the two sets of 10ah batteries won't even get through my front yard. When it is running it doesn't have much power either and will regularly stall if you are trying to mulch and move too quickly. I don't even use the self drive mode since it just drains the batteries even quicker. Just a terrible tool. I have no idea why they wouldn't make this tool compatible with their flexvolt batteries. The only way I could see this lawnmower being useful is if you're using the massive 15ah flexvolt batteries and at that point you've spent more on batteries than you have on the lawnmower itself. Just buy an Echo instead. Love DeWalts power tools but I will never buy a DeWalt lawn care tool again and will try and make sure that nobody I know has to suffer through these tools either.

                  Failed battery powered lawnmower
I bought this mower in May 2023. I only use the mower to cut the perimeter of my yard & around trees, my lot size is approx 1/4 acre. Last yr, I could cut what I needed on a single charge. This yr, I can do only about 2/3 of my yard, then the batteries have to be recharged. (Batteries stored inside during the winter) Just after my warranty expired the machine will work for approx 5 mins, then stop (batteries are fully charged)I restart the machine but it continues to stop. I went to Home Depot to see what they can do, they referred me to an authorized Dewalt repair shop. I took the machine to them, they suggested it’s probably a battery issue. They sent them back to Dewalt who replaced them. Charged up the new batteries, went to use the mower & still the same issue, machine keeps shutting off after a few minutes. Only choice now is for them to figure out what is wrong with it & then I decide if I want it to be fixed!! Didn’t plan to pay for repairs on a new 14 month old lawnmower. I have zero confidence in the machine at this point & will not spend more money to get it working. Home Depot will not do anything for me, even though this has been my 4th battery powered lawn mower, the other 3 being Ryobi products. Always the same issues, either batteries failing or machine shutting down. I had gas powered lawnmower prior, used for over 20 yrs. I thought I should be environmentally conscious and replace with a battery mower, but looks like I’m going back to gas powered lawn mower.

                      Dewalt Lawnmower
Had this lawnmower 2 years, wouldn't start, warranty is for 3 years. Called Dewalt, they won't do anything. Dewalt said the 3 year warranty is only for recalled parts. Does even make sense, when a part is recalled it should be covered. Not impressed. My husband uses Dewalt tools and grass trimmer and we thought because they were good tools the lawnmower would also stand up to the name, so far they haven't. I'll keep you tuned into what happens.....

Loan mower failed design in almost every part
I bought this 2.6 months ago. It's the worst $800 item you can ever buy. Not enough power, gets full after two 60' lengths, rear drive motor is impossible to get used to, bag is too small, slope of the channel to eject grass is to high that grass gets stuck all the time prior to bag getting 10% full. If I could return it I would go today.

                                    Great mower, crappy batteries
Bought the summer of 2023, the mower itself it great, however the 10ah batteries supplied with it are garbage. I have used the mower a total of 7 times and 1 of the batteries has already quit, the charger says its charged but the second you demand power from it, it drops to zero. At nearly $300 for a new battery I could buy a brand new gas mower. I have been a loyal dewalt customer for over a decade and never been disappointed until now.

Could not complete even a small yard
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Words cannot express how much I hate this machine. Not only can not mow your front and backyard on a couple batteries. If you have an excess of batteries it will ruin them. It will make them so that they will not charge anymore. Got a weed that's over 4 in tall, it'll shut down the mower every time. I am 3 years in one month into the warranty and both of the batteries are shot that it came with. I am nothing but DeWalt tools, and I cannot express enough how much you should NOT buy this.

                                        Do not buy!
The mower quit working after a couple months of use. Before that you couldn't even mow a 2,000 square foot lawn without the batteries dying. DeWalt's warranty process is a complete nightmare. I had one customer service rep give me a number to call, which was the same number I called her on. Complete joke.
