Customer Reviews for DEWALT Yellow 4-Tier Steel Garage Storage Shelving Unit (77 in. W x 72 in. H x 24 in. D)

There are four vertical beams that make up the foundation of this rack. 2 of them have preassembled crossbars. Here is my issue: the columns are suppose to have 3 preassembled crossbars but i only have one with 3 three, the other with 2 rendering this project an epic failure because of quality control prior to packaging and sending it to me. See attached photo. Overall, I love the product but it did not come as seen on website .

First thing I saw after opening the box is the warped wire shelves, not impressed, they might work fine but I don’t like it. Then I noticed some of the support straps were deformed where the bolt holes were located. The metal is pretty thin as mentioned by other comments. I’m expecting a bit more for a shelf that costs 200+ dollars and I’m not even bothering putting this together

Easy to assemble. Columns/legs are single pieces and not two bolted together pieces like some other shelves. Powder coat paint is pretty tough, didn't chip when I re-positioned a shelf and had to knock it out. Handles the weight far better than the plastic shelves I was using. Bit pricey... at that price there should have been some other color options. Would have preferred a foot taller version, but it fits the attic nicely. Replacing shelves holding my cds, computer equipment, and servers/workstations in my man cave. Also using as a stereo rack for my audio system in the same room, using an extra shelf that I didn't use with one of my other unit. Looks really good considering it's purely functional. Site won't let me upload image of how I'm using.

I purchased the wire shelf version of this unit as the price was too good to pass up. I was concerned that the wire shelves might be flimsy but it was clear on opening the box that they are not. The assembly instructions make it look harder than it is for most parts, and easier than it is for others (the darn shelf clips). I am a 69 year old female and I assembled it myself. This shelving unit is a beast - heavy, sturdy and nice looking. I like it so much that I promptly ordered a second one.

This is the perfect size for me. But it is not without issues: (1) You cannot buy extra shelves, You can only buy another complete unit to get the shelves (2) The stacking hardware is not available separately. Each unit comes with two stacking brackets. (you need 4). So, again, you have to buy another complete unit. (3) I needed 2' taller and 2 more shelves, so I had to buy an extra unit and spent time with my cutoff saw and extra screws from hardware isle.

Super easy to assemble as all necessary tools are included.looks great when finished and super sturdy.

Once you buy one you want to get another. Make your own design and it looks very good, easy to assemble. I am looking forward to get the big boy for my next garage project.

Heavy-duty shelving to organize our new garage and store some bins. Fairly easy to assemble after the 1st one.

The shelving system works. There were some fabrication issues, one upright was not punched correctly, causing the upright to be out of square and not securing to the cross member properly. Also this shelving was missing the wieght capacity tag. That I wish I had. I called customer service and offered me 15% discount and I accepted. That being said, I have 2 other Dewalt 3 tier racks. They make for great storage.

I just bought a 3rd one of these and the quality of the paint has severely dropped. It looks like they changed suppliers. I also noticed the material seems to be a gauge thinner. It looks like they went from 16ga to 18ga.

This little rack is super cool, easy to set up, and small but stores alot. I also purchased the cord keeper. I do wish it was easier to change the height of the shelf's without having to complety disassemble the shelf. Also some of the other attachments that are sold separately are more expensive then the shelf itself.

Very sturdy and good looking shelving.

I knew from past experience that I didn't want the typical flimsy grey utility shelving that seems to be offered everywhere. After researching and comparing I decided to buy this unit and am very satisfied with my choice. These DeWalt shelves are indeed industrial grade, well designed, and constructed. Everything needed to complete the assembly is included. I put it together solo without any problems, but an extra pair of hands always helps. These shelves are heavy, so I recommend assembling them in the location where they will be used. I appreciated the little extras in the design like, straps under each shelf to keep things from twisting, and the simple DeWalt logo keeper pins that ensure the shelves can't be jostled loose from their mounts.

For the price, these are the best little shelving units I think you can buy, Clean looking and super sturdy. They give my garage a professional look that I love and serve a very important purpose. They can also be stacked which I have done and love it.

Very convenient, easy to assemble, high quality.

I was surprised to find that it came with both an allen, and an impact driver bit. I started putting it together with the allen, but when I found the impact driver bit, I threw that on, and the shelf basically built itself. I purchased 6 of these and stacked them double high. They nearly completely covered my garage wall, leaving just enough room to get my hot water heater out. I'm 6'3", and I can just barely reach the top shelf. I love having so much space available. My garage floor is very uneven, and because I stacked them, I was left with 4 extra feet left over. I cut down some of the extra feet to the height I needed, and screwed them onto the existing feet. That left me with perfectly level shelves. Only afterward did I find out that there's a kit (DXSTA04MP) that provides easy leveling. I'm happy with the way it turned out, but it would've been less work to use the kit. The material is very strong, and even with just one side of a shelf, it holds itself up. They feel reliable, and they really make the garage look so much better. It feels like a place I want to be and spend time in now. Overall fantastic shelves. Highly recommended.

Very nice. Easy to assemble, tall, and sturdy. I like how one shelf is solid (instead of the metal grate) so it can be used as a workbench. My only complaint is that this plastic shelf can rattle around if there isn't much weight on it. Yes, you can get basically the same thing from another brand for $100 less but Dewalt yellow always looks good in the garage and it will last forever.

I specifically purchased two of these units because they are one of the few shelving units that come with protective feet, which was an important consideration of mine, wanting to protect the epoxy garage floor coating. These also have some significant strength and safety upgrades from most shelving units of the type. There are drop-in cross braces for the top of each shelf, as with other brands, but there are also braces for the bottom of each shelf that attach with provided screws, which prevents the shelf from 'splaying' out if overloaded. There are also little keepers that prevent the shelves from becoming loose and detaching from the uprights. Overall, the quality of materials, the easy-to-follow directions (if a bit tiny to read for my aging eyes) and the sturdiness are impressive. I only wish there was an option between all melamine or all mesh shelves, as well as more models in the range.

This Dewalt Garage shelving unit is very sturdy and looks great in my garage. Price was reasonable. Took about 30-45 minutes to assemble. Had easy to read instructions. Had shipped to store with no additional cost to pick up item. Very happy with purchase.

Its a great shelve takes me 25 minutes maybe 30 to put together if you know what your doing

Ordered online from home depot. Only took 5 days for delivery I was impressed. I love the Dewalt shelves. They are real sturdy, easy to put together, and look good. This 6 foot shelve I got for my garage. I also have 2, 4 foot Dewalt shelves for my basement.

Great product and love the fact that you can add on to this.

For the price, it's not bad. However, the "weld nuts" on the safety straps are painted on, not welded on. Be sure to clean the paint out of the holes to prevent the paint from making it hard for the bolt to go in. Also, make sure you use pliers to hold the "weld nuts" while bolting the safety straps on. Additionally, the laminate decks are very easily scuffed by just sliding a cardboard box onto it. Lastly, they are easy to assemble, if you watch the how-to videos. The printed instructions are impossible to understand.

I bought two of these to stack creating an 8 foot high shelf. I liked just about everything about this shelf except for the stacking bracket attachment which was way to flimsy for my comfort. So what I did was use two 6mm flange head bolts through the existing holes in the bracket with a 1 inch fender washer on the back side with a locking nut. See my pic. It really firmed up the entire shelf and eliminated any possibility that it could separate. The shelf is very strong and I liked the feet and wooden shelves. I ended up putting some shim stock under two of the legs in the front to make it set parallel to the wall so I could fasten the shelf to the wall so it couldn't tip over. On tall shelves you have to do this. In the end, the shelf worked perfectly and I highly recommend it.

This shelving unit is the Bomb! I also purchased 2 of the 4’ wide units, with the drawers, and the metal peg boards. These shelving units are built very strong. My garage is all Black and Yellow!

The quality and looks of the frame is very good, but the composite material deck panels are not strong. The panels are bending and distorting in hot or sunlit areas. The assembly instruction manual could have been better with more illustrations. While the assembly is simple, the instructions make it look very complex

Shelf is easy to put together and instructions straight forward. The design is very rugged, and just feels sturdy. We use it in our IT Office, and the color makes it stand out, we have a rugged, utility design in our retail space, and this fits right in. We have had a ton of people comment on it, and ask questions. We will definitely be buying more in the future. The powdercoating seems rugged, and doesn't appear it would chip very easily, which is another huge plus when it comes to shelving. Previous shelf we had in place looked awful after even assembly.

The design is good, but the manufacturing must have been contracted out to some EV company because it’s terrible. I went through three DXST 4500-W until I received one that had components that were mostly square, straight, and had holes not filled with paint over spray. Now I’m dealing with the DXST 10000 (one of the U-bracket is not correctly welded to the vertical beam). Maybe Dewalt should test fit their shelving units before shipping them. For now, I can’t recommend this product since the unit I received wasn’t properly manufactured. I’ll update my review once and if I receive replacement parts. The design is good, but the manufacturing process is terrible.
