These chairs are great. VERY sturdy. They are heavy which tells me they’re well made. And of course it helps being made in USA. I searched high and low for solid chairs that I wouldn’t pay an arm and a leg for. Instead i paid just an arm but they’re made in America and great chairs. I love the gray too. Great choice. Please buy!

    Sturdy and pretty
I got the Aruba blue chairs with matching table. They look great and seem sturdy enough to withstand the harshest weather and not blow away in the wind (well, maybe a hurricane). These chairs are VERY heavy and not easy to move around, maybe not quite as heavy as real wood, but close. Won't be a problem for someone young and spry but if you're weak and elderly might be a little tough to carry them more than a few feet. The assembly was so-so. The chairs come almost fully assembled (good) and once unfolded and set upright, all it takes is inserting a thick steel pin. However, the insructions recommend a rubber mallet or softheaded hammer to accomplish that (I had neither so used a regular hammer with its rubber handle end). Frankly, I'm not sure what the pins accomplish, as the chair seemed ok without them and as another reviewer noted they only go in a quarter or half inch because the fit is so tight (hole was too small). The pictures are misleading since they show the pins almost all the way in. The biggest issue I found was how to get it to stand upright with the back properly inclined. I spent a good deal of time trying to get it right and it was really only through trial and error that I accomplished it; I couldn't replicate it if I had to, so the "fold and store" option isn't all that appealling. Much easier, once you get it set up, to just leave it outdoors. The instructions were unhelpful on how to unlock the secret of standing them up properly. All in all I'm pleased, hence 4 stars.

Even a 65 year old lady can assemble
I was looking for solid Adirondack chairs that are heavy enough to deal with Outer Banks winds and these were a good deal. They fold, which will be convenient when I want to store them, but it’s not easy to do so and they are substantial in weight so serve as if they are stationary. I am a 65 year old female who is NOT talented at assembly and even I got them together. There is a trick to unfolding them a specific way before inserting the pins so the back is correctly aligned and the instructions are no help. I put one together and took it back apart several times before I figured it out. I remembered another viewer commenting so kept trying. I wish I knew what I did. Now that they are up I find them to be solid, comfortable and just what I wanted for my space. I am waiting for a Polywood table to complete my look as it was cheaper that this brand at the time and I will look into matching ottomans.

Over the years I've owned wooden and plastic Adirondack chairs. As nice as the wooden chairs were when they first arrived, no matter how diligently I stained, then eventually painted them, they just couldn't stand up to the elements over a long period of time. These high-end plastic versions capture the comfort and beauty of the wooden chair with zero upkeep. In addition, you can leave them outside all year long, even in harsh New England winters and they are no worse for the wear come spring. This particular chair is the first I have owned that folds, which is a nice feature for transport and storage. To be clear, this isn't a chair you just pick up, fold and put in the garage at the end of the night. Its a bit of a chore to fold and unfold - I had to get a hammer to get the pins in. So I think the folding feature is more geared towards longer term storage (maybe at the end of the summer) than day-to-day. Which unless you cannot leave your chair out should be fine because it won't fade or degenerate over time.

It is a really nice looking chair that should last a very long time and was assembled with stainless fasteners, which should also help with the longevity of this chair. I did struggle for a while to get it to open and achieve the correct geometry. The trick was to make sure it is folded completely flat before trying to open it, or the chair will not open correctly. There are two large pins that keep the chair from being able to fold back closed. My pins are too large for the holes drilled in the chair, and will only go in about a quarter of an inch, making them useless. Also, good luck keeping those pins with the chair when you store it for the winter. My chair was not tightly assembled. Some of the screws I had to tighten to make them flush with the chair, and to keep the trim piece from wiggling. The chair is more narrow than I expected. I am 5' 10" 205, and it felt a little tight. This chair will need a cushion for any extended sitting.

The chair arrived fully assembled. After unfolding per the instruction sheet, inserting two hefty stainless steel retaining pins, it was ready to use. The backrest is flat, consistent with the time-proven design. The seat is curved to accommodate the curved seats of users. The chair is comfortable as is with no cushion required. I would prefer slightly more seat depth, but it’s no big deal. A matching ottoman is available for separate purchase. The hefty solid construction is impressive, with substantial weight for stability in windy weather. Look elsewhere if ease of lifting is a priority. It’s manufactured of recycled high density polyethylene—strong, weather resistant, impervious to rot. No need for painting because the color is embedded throughout the material, not just a surface finish. The metal hardware is stainless steel. Backed by an impressive 20 year warranty for residential use. It’s too soon to judge long term durability, but this chair is clearly built to last. Scan and save the purchase receipt just in case. Made in Indiana, America’s heartland. Recommended for anyone who prefers relaxing in a chair to maintaining it.

Love these! I wanted chairs I didn’t have to worry about and could leave outside year round. These fit the bill. Sturdy. I did not buy them to fold and store and that’s good, because I doubt I could break them down. Tricky to set up, but after looking online figured it out. They are the perfect addition to our patio!

The chair was very uncomfortable, and extremely low to the ground. I took them back the next day without even taking the second one out of the box.

The chair comes fully assembled. All I had to do was unfold it and put a couple of pins in it so wouldn’t fold back up on me unexpectedly. It’s pretty heavy duty and seems durable. The reason I gave three stars is because it’s insanely uncomfortable. I sat down on it and immediately felt the back digging into my spine. I couldn’t sit for more than a minute before I had to get up. Luckily I found a cushion made specifically for Adirondack chairs and it dramatically increased the comfort level. But for as much as this chair costs, a cushion should be a luxury, not a necessity.

Best chairs out there - build quality and concealed stainless steel hardware. Don't bother with the other brands.

        Great chair
We just received our chair and what great quality. Very sturdy and maid well. We did use a rubber mallet to install the large pins as it says on the instructions. They went right in and it secures the chair. It is an awesome chair. Got it on sale for $169.99. Loved the fact it was already assembled just right out of the box and put the pins in. Ready for use.

Excellent chairs. They come already assembled and only require a pin to be put in. I read reviews that said they needed to drill the hole bigger and one that said the pin is only supposed to go in half way. Just need to read the instructions which state to use a rubber mallet to tap it in. It works. I love these chairs and the color is nice. They are made out of Polywood, so won’t deteriorate due to weather. Also, they are heavy, so will not blow away when windy.

          Unimpressed and disappointed
I have multiple cottages as rentals along the waterfront in Maine. I've purchased well over a dozen composite Adirondack chairs this past year alone. Compared to another brand that I purchased sight unseen, these are far inferior. These Durogreen chairs cost significantly more but were much lighter and the pieces much thinner than the other chairs I purchased. I went with these because the other company did not have red available. Additionally, I read positive reviews about Durogreen. My review will not be one of them.
