The door is a very heavy MDF board. The instructions were not written well but even as a novice we got the door installed. I would say it was a solid decent door overall for the price. But there are several issues. The spring in the handle is very thin. There are seams on the door that could let water into the wood interior. The window does not fit correctly, so the top of the storm window falls out unless we keep it in the up position. That is why I would not recommend and may return the door.

Love the door, fits in place and is simple to install for a novice.

This door was purchased and installed less than a year ago. It is the WORSE door ever. It broke off at the hinges very quickly. Apparently I am not the only one with these issues. I read through the other reviews and Andersen stated to call them with the serial number. I did that and and they face timed the door and sent pictures to the warranty department. Apparently as they said "outside forces" caused this incident and it is not covered. It is a STORM door and should be able to take the brunt of a storm. Living in the Boston area, it gets stormy and windy. If they didn't want to back a storm door, they should just call it a tiny breeze door. STAY AWAY. Totally useless.

Cute door and great for the price

now it won't cover footprint of previous storm door. They shortened the door by 3/4 and made the side rails slightly narrower. They also give you another piece to cover the 3/4 gap above the top if it does not cover your height of 80" The side rail is 79 3/4" instead of 80 1/2" as the old one. I would not recommend getting this door. With the narrower side rails you don't have as much rail attached to the doors brick mold.

I purchased this door in October 2021. I contacted Home Depot in September of 2022, who referred me to Customer Service. The top window does NOT stay up! No matter how gently you close the door it slides down. It also leaks (obviously from the window falling down), but also in the seams around the window. During one storm, the rain coming in between the 2 doors was ridiculous! I was glad I was home to constantly stay on top of the water. The rubber stripping is falling apart

09/17/2022 Looked up online and went to make this purchase in Mt. Pleasant, TX. price listed as $144.00(handle included) at counter price charged was $179.00 before taxes. We purchased 2. If you pull this item up it list price, isle and number in stock at this location. Another similar quality door for $138(not including handle) was our 1st choice. Had I known the price would be different at the counter I would have purchased that one. HD get your pricing consistent. Not cool.

It is very heavy! I managed but very pleased with the end results!

I bought this 2 years ago, and six months ago, it started corroding in a small place on the outside frame, which would periodically prevent the door from closing. I would scrape off some of the material so it would close, but it's progressed to the point where it's nearly eaten away the frame from that spot. I would NOT recommend this door!!!

What a difference a new, clean door looks compared to the old dirty one. I am a 54 yr old female and installed this myself, along with watching many YouTube videos! It is very sturdy and clean looking.

I purchased 2 36x80 storm doors. One was made an inch out of square. So when i installed it. I had to build a full length of 0-1 inch of shim material. The other door installed ok. I would recommend, that you make sure it is square before purchasing.

Its not a bad door but you need to do some additional work to ensure it will last more than a couple years. The core of the door is made out of chip board, not a very good product when subjected to water. I read a lot of the reviews on these doors and saw the pictures posted online and complaints about swelling of the door and failure. The way the door is built you need to seal up around the door frame and window. So I caulked the seems with a good silicone to help eliminate any water intrusion. If you buy the cheapest door offered you need to plan to do a little additional work, so be realistic in your expectations.

Its a really good door for the price , nice and sturdy unlike my previous all aluminum storm door which was on its last limb.

The worst quality. Over time water seeps in and rots the wood core. The description doesn't mention the interior is wood which rots and damages the interior and exterior "aluminum" part of the door. My contractor said this is very common. The warranty apparently covers the person, not the door, and is not transferrable to a new homeowner, which is absurd. It's cheap for a reason, you get what you pay for.

Door is very poorly made and did not even last 18 months. Door is a storm door and it broke by wind. Warranty of 10 years is a scam since they did not cover damages by win/external force under warranty.

Worst door ever. Glass very thin. Plastic trim missing 1/4 " cold air entry. Up/ slider cockeyed - cold air entry. Have to push top of glass to guide into track so will go up. The weather strip had a 1-in tear in it the first day.

It function well; easy installation and reasonable price

The glass and screen fell out of this door less than 3 months after installation. Not a good experience trying to get the Orange TX Home Depot to replace the door either. I would not recommend this door.

Door is easy to assemble and can be painted in various styles and finishes, and windows can be stained.

I’ve never seen such a terrible door before. Covered with glue adhesive. Scratches all over it. Screws sticking up not tightened. The corners are horribly not aligned. This is the worst door I’ve ever bought. Don’t not buy!!!

As far as basic assembly goes, it was easy to put together. Unfortunately this thing has ripped off the hinges two times now and is unusable. Complete waste of money.

Decent door for the price. Note: you can only open screen on the bottom. I didn’t catch that at purchase. That may be an issue with my dogs and grandkids down the line. Troy through Home Depot did a great job with installation. Will update in the future.

I bought this door and after 5 years the wood core rotted from water penetrating it at the seams resulting in warping, corrosion to the aluminum frame and ultimately carpenter ants nesting in the rotted wood. Emco replaced the door under warranty and the same thing happened to the replacement door in exactly the same time frame (i.e., rotted core, warping, corrosion and carpenter ants - a true sign of rotted wood). Having gone through the entire claim process with photos, emails, etc., the initial response was fairly good with an email stating they would give me a 50% credit for the value and contact me within 10 business days. I responded with a question about why only a 50% credit on a door with an alleged 10 year warranty (it was 12 on the first door) and what value that percentage was based on, and have had no further contact from them after 2 weeks and 2 follow-up emails. The door looked good initially but is not well made (as an aside, the screen does not fit tightly leaving gaps on the bottom and sides allowing insects to enter) and certainly does not qualify as an outside door with any type of exposure to heavy rain or harsh weather conditions and should not be advertised or sold with a 10 year warranty if its useful life as a storm door is 5 years or less. I am extremely disappointed with the door quality and the customer service thus far. I definitely would not recommend this door for any type of exposed area unless you want to replace it in a very short time.

Very pleased with the quality and looks of this screen door. Very nice finish, and all the parts were in the box. Instructions were 99% accurate and clear. Instructions for anything are rarely 100% accurate, but these came very close with really only one missing piece of info on what size drill bit to use for one of the steps. The closer and the door handle hardware work great. If you are like me and have never installed a screen door before, the 2-hour estimate is a joke. I didn't time it, but it took a good 8 hours to complete on a not so square doorway of an old house. The included shim strip came in very handy. I had to cut it and double it up on the bottom to make everything fit right. Highly recommended.
