      ecosmart tankless water system
My home is 2600 sq. feet and our family has been using this sytem for 2 years. Its great. The hot water is very hot. So if your tankless is not working to your expectations, get an electrician to install it. The amp and voltage is extremely important for this item to function accurately. Our family loves it,2 adults and 2 teenagers. My friend purchased a gas tankless and her plumber charged $1600 for parts and labor. Be smart, its not a do-it-yourself project, call an electrician

I had to run a new circuit to handle the 30amp requirement. The flow rate is reduced from what would normally flow out of the kitchen faucet but by setting the temperature higher than usage temperature I was able to use a mix of hot and cold water to get the desired flow rate at the kitchen sink.

Second try for EcoSmart; still disappointed. First unit burned out due to lack of water pressure. This unit needed six electrician hours to install and calibrate-- DO NOT attempt DIY. Two speeds: nothing or burn your skin off. Would not buy EcoSmart again!

        Overshoots temperature
I bought this to supply supplemental heat to my kitchen sink since the hot water is to far away and it takes close to 2 minutes for hot water to appear. My inlet temperature is 116 degrees. The heater is at 110 degrees. Warm water appears after 7 seconds which is great but then after 30 seconds the heater will heat the water up to 138 degrees. I provided a video of what happens and their customer support responded back that I should check my voltage. Which shows they did not watch the video

        Hello,

We are sorry to hear about the issues you’re experiencing with your water heater. It sounds like the water heater is not maintaining a consistent temperature, which can be frustrating.

        Here are a few suggestions:

Even though you feel that the customer support did not fully understand your issue, it might still be worth checking the voltage. Incorrect voltage can cause a variety of issues with electric appliances.
If your water heater has an adjustable temperature setting, try lowering it to prevent the water from getting too hot.
It’s possible that your initial communication with customer support was not satisfactory. Try reaching out again and clearly explain the issue. If possible, provide them with the video again.
If the issue persists, consider hiring a professional plumber or electrician to inspect your water heater. They might be able to identify and fix the problem.
Remember, safety is paramount when dealing with electrical appliances. Always turn off the power at the circuit breaker before performing any maintenance on your water heater. We hope this helps, and we wish you the best of luck with your water heater!

POU 6T works fine I sized it to my existing electrical circuit which was not sufficient to serve the size unit that was needed. My breaker box was completely full therefore I would have had to do mort electrical work than I wanted to do.

Trouble with registering for warranty , unit works well.
Unit heats water quickly and consistently, just what we need in our bathroom. Getting it registered for warranty very difficult. The numbers must be inside panel. Had somebody install for us and would need their help to remove cover to see if numbers are in there. Called number for help and they could not, just said to find a way to remove cover. So not able to register.

Used to take 2 minutes to get hot water to the upstairs bathroom sink. I resigned to just using cold water to wash my face. During a remodeling project I added the POU 6 and use the cold water line as input and now have hot water in 8 seconds. Very nice. The only problem is the warranty which requires a licensed plumber and electrician to install the unit in order to validate the warranty. Let's face it this is not rocket science. Run a 10 gauge 220 line with a 30 amp 220 breaker and connect a water inlet and outlet and you're done. Come on Ecosmart get with the DYI crowd and remove the BS requirements.

          Sean,

We are sorry to hear about the issues you’re experiencing with the water heater you have reviewed. It sounds like the water flow rate might be affecting the heater’s ability to heat the water.

Tankless water heaters heat water directly without the use of a storage tank. When a hot water tap is turned-on, cold-water travels through a pipe into the unit where it’s heated. If the water flow rate is too high, the heater might not be able to heat the water effectively.

You might want to check the product specifications for the optimal water flow rate for this model. If the problem persists, it might be best to reach out to a professional plumber or technical service for further assistance.

Remember, safety first. Always turn off the power supply before inspecting your water heater. If you have any other questions or need further assistance, feel free to call 877-474-6473 Monday through Friday 9 am to 5 pm EST.

          Hi,

We are glad to hear that the POU 6T Point-of-Use Temperature Controlled Tankless Electric Water Heater is working well for you. It’s normal for tankless water heaters to fluctuate a bit at first as they adjust to the water flow and temperature, but they should stabilize quickly.

          Derius ecosmartus
This EcoSmart POU 6T can burn you.
The heater is very good when entering water is cold. You can set the temperature and it will provide it. The Home Depot description says “Reads incoming water temperature; can be used inline with a whole home water heater.” This is where the problem is with this heater. When the incoming water gets hotter from the whole home water heater the POU 6T will not respond quickly. I have it set up for 115° F. I have measured temperatures over 150° F when the whole house water finally gets to the POU 6T. This can last long enough to read it on a Thermoworks Thermapen instant read thermometer. The product wants you to connect flexible hoses to it. This is a problem when you get the stainless steel covered hoses and then find out they have a tag that says “Do not connect to instant water heaters”. After seeing these scalding high temperatures I can understand the concern of the hose manufacturers. The warranty is useless for the DIY installer. To submit the warranty card you must provide your electrical and plumbing license numbers. Many DIY people may have the knowledge to install this heater but I doubt many have the required licenses to register the product. Home Depot should look at this when selling a product for which their customer cannot make a warranty claim. Home Depot should advising the DIY customer when there is no warranty. From a technical stand point the product looks very well built with all the correct electronics in place to do the temperature controls correctly. The problem seems to be with the pulse width modulator algorithm having too slow of a PID loop response.

            Ian,

We are sorry to hear about the issues you’ve been experiencing with the water heater you have reviewed. It sounds like you’ve encountered a few different problems, from the unit not responding quickly enough when the incoming water gets hotter, to the issue with the warranty for DIY installers.

Your feedback is valuable and it’s important that these issues are addressed. If you haven’t already, we would recommend reaching out to Home Depot’s customer service with your concerns. They may be able to assist with the warranty issue and provide further advice on the installation and use of the heater.

Regarding the technical issue with the pulse width modulator algorithm having too slow of a PID loop response, this might be something that speaking with our Technical Support team may help with addressing this issue.

Remember, safety first. Always turn off the power supply before inspecting your water heater. If you have any other questions or need further assistance, feel free to call 877-474-6473 Monday through Friday 9 am to 5 pm EST.
