Not useful as KneePads
I found these kneepads utterly useless. They do not stay on your knees, no matter how tight you make the flimsy straps. If you plan on moving, standing, or walking, these are not the product you're looking for. The pads lack a depression for your knee to sit in, so they slide down to your shins when you stand up. Likewise, when you crouch down, they also slide down, exposing the tops of your knees to whatever you're working or kneeling on. The plastic material on the front, labeled "ProFlex", gives no flex.

The Ergodyne Proflex Knee Pads with Long Cap and Light Weight Gel (#347) are described as providing lightweight comfort, superior mobility, and rugged durability. These pads are slightly longer than their comparable shorter version, providing padding for a little more surface area of the shins. I used the pads for 6 hours over two days while installing my lower kitchen cabinet doors. After an hour I occasionally forgot they were on while walking around and going up and down stairs. Interesting, as I was paying attention to them for this review. When I first put them on I would experience the sensation of falling/tipping due to rolling off to the side of the pads if I leaned or swiveled to the side or moved around. The outer pad covering is a tough rubberized material with a grooved textured surface with good traction. This cover will catch on carpet; it doesn’t slide, and can cause the pads to move from their optimum position centered on the knee caps. The cover is also angled at the outer edge – similar to the hard chine on a boat hull bottom – that adds to this falling/tipping sensation. The only pads I have worn previous to this were the thin, inexpensive, simple foam type, and that probably enhanced the sensation of feeling up high and tipsy. After a couple of hours I did not notice this sensation as much; probably due to my knees compressing/bedding into the gel foam and not allowing my knee to move on the inner gel pad when the pad covering would catch on the carpet. I had also progressively cinched the straps tighter as time passed, especially the lower strap. For comparison I am 5’ 10” and 190#. The straps are attached/detached via a slotted tab fit over a matching nob, allowing quick and easy on and off. The straps can be tightened while the pads are being worn. The upper strap is elastic material, while the lower strap is not. I can not speak to the long term durability of the pads as I have only used them twice for about 6 hours. From the materials and fabrication I can assume they will last a reasonable time even under rough use - your mileage may vary. The warranty guarantees the pads, “... to be free of defects in materials and workmanship to the original purchaser for the lifetime of the product.” Damage, abuse, and/or normal wear are not covered.” I got a kick out of some hidden humor on the tag: “All rights reserved. All wrongs reversed.” “Designed by Ergodyne in Minnesota – Made in China”.

Great knee pads, very comfortable. These knee pads lost a star from me because often the straps would loosen and they did not adjust easily. These came in handy the day after Christmas when I had to get on the floor to clean up all of the gift wrapping that was shred to pieces on the floor. I used this on hardwood, carpets, and outside on concrete. They did a great job of protecting my knees. It took a while to find a sweet spot to make the straps stay securely but once I did , they worked like a charm. For one project I wore these around for 4+hours and they were tight enough to not around too much yet it was not so tight that it cut off the circulation in my legs which is good. I had no discomfort during the time I had them on. The Gel is nice and soft and did not scratch up my hardwood surfaces

No problems with packaging or condition of the pads. Just remove the tags and strap these pads on. The straps are easily adjusted for fit with a very good attaching method. So light you hardly know you have them on. But these are high quality knee pads. Made of tough flexible material with a very comfortable gel backing. They are extra long and bend easily for kneeling or walking around on your knees. I'm not expecting any problems working with these pads come Spring.

These Ergodyne Proflex Long Knee Pads are awesome. They feel amazingly comfortable to work in and offer great protection and thorough coverage for your knees and tops of your shins. They are easy to adjust and will easily fit many different size legs because they are adjustable and lock in place. They are very strong and durable; very well made all over. Very easy to put on and take off. They really alleviate the pressure and harshness of working on your knees. I highly recommend these for so many excellent reasons.

The Black Long Cap Lightweight Gel Knee Pads are hands down the most comfortable set of knee pads I have ever owned. I have been through a lot of knee pads doing flooring, roofing and hard-scaping. These are the best. The gel cushioning is excellent, and I really like the extra length of these pads. Most knee pads have hook and eye (Velcro) straps, but these have straps that hook key-holes over posts. The lower strap is non-expanding webbing while the top one is elastic. That is a good combination. They take a bit more time to adjust but once secure they are comfortable. These cost a bit more than the smaller, thinner and cheaper made knee pads, but they worth every penny and a great value.

I'm gettin' up there in age and when that happens to you, being on your knees all day to lay flooring, doesn't work like it used to. It hurts like a son-of-a-gun if you don't have the proper protection. These ProFlex kneepads are real handy for that because they are very lightweight. That is important if you will be wearing them for extended periods. They also have gel material in the pad that makes it bearable to be on them all day. These pads also have the clip on the straps that actually work better than the Velcro because, once you have them adjusted properly, the clip makes them stay at that setting every time you strap them on. On these the top strap is stretchy and the bottom strap is solid making them stay in place better and still allowing the comfort of the stretch strap. I really love placing tile and especially when I do something a little bit special with accents and patterns etc. I found that I wasn't as excited about it when it was painful to spend the extra time to do it. Now I can get excited about it again because the pain level is much lower when using this product. A note to you young guys...start using pads like these now and it won't be as painful when you reach my age!

They have too much cushion and end up making you rock side to side. Very comfortable straps, terrible design. Used them for a week doing some flooring and it ended up messing up my knee.

These knee pads a very light weight and do not have a large flat spot. The issue I have are when you kneel the clips that hold the straps in place come unhooked. The bottom strap is nylon and the fused end has sharp edges on it that will scratch your leg. Every 15 minutes you will need to retighten the straps as they continuously loosen as you work.

While the cushioning of these knee pads is good, the strap system for securing them in place is very poor. After a single use the straps become distorted and were very uncomfortable at the back of my knees. Also, straps were unable to keep pads from moving when kneeling. Perhaps a tight fitting sleeve might be a better means of securing pads at knees (just like athletic kneepads).

After having knee surgery this is a must have to keep working. These are comfortably cushioned inside and tough on the outside. They stay in place well if adjusted properly. I found if the top elastic strap is too tight it tends to ride down behind the knee making the entire pad fall out of position. I used these for some work on a concrete basement floor and came out feeling great.

I have used knee pads throughout my life. Primarily in the trades but also in a home environment so I have some experience with this type of products. Applications include masonry, tile setting, deckwork, gardening and yard work. Basically, in a knee pad you want a product that comfortably protects your knees and shins, that is easy to put on and off, is tightly fastened when attached and gives you a stable foundation when working on your knees. Ideally, they should provide the ability to go to your knees on any surface without a concern of knee/chin pain or damage. The Proflex Knee Pads model 347 does a great job with all of these with the exception of one. When it comes to the quality of the material and the workmanship I rate these pads high. I believe they will last with normal to aggressive use. They are easy to put on and the straps adjust easily. The lower strap is not elastic while the top strap has an elastic band. For me, this is an added feature. You can cinch up the bottom strap to the upper calf while the top strap allows less constriction on the lower thigh. I have used the cross strap technique and it is less helpful having one with elastic and one without. The gel is very comfortable on the knees and shins. The outer surface is skid resistant which is nice. These knee pads are engineered to wrap around the knee. This is a nice design on the knee side of the product. However, it causes a slight functionality issue for me on the outside surface. When on your knees, stability is crucial in many situations. Other pads I have used have a hard flat surface with "right angle edges" like a hard surface court shoe, which allows greater stability and does not allow rolling of the pad and the knee. I have found that with these pads you have to take an extra moment to make sure you are stable before proceeding with your task. It would be nice to see a product with a rigid flat external surface with an identical internal design. This is my only criticism.

Have only worn these a couple of times so far, but have been very happy with them. I imagine they might get a little warm in the summertime if worn for very long. My knees aren't great and I won't even try kneeling on hard surfaces anymore, but with these pads, there's no problem at all with comfort. The straps could be better, but they're easy enough to fasten and adjust.

The 347 knee pads look good but disappointed with overall performance. They are "wide", perhaps designed to wear over insulated coveralls but too wide for normal work jeans. When simply kneeling they are comfortable enough, but when I "walked" on my knees or crawled from one area to another, the pads tended to "roll" to one side. This "roll effect" was uncomfortable. Simply tightening the straps did not resolve the problem. I eventually crisscrossed the straps in back of the knee and that was a little better. However, the bottom strap is not a stretch strap and appears not designed for crisscrossing. It made fastening the bottom strap to the upper button difficult. The pads also tended to slide down and had to be re-positioned over the knee frequently. My observation is the knee pads are too flat. They should be designed to be deeper and to contour over and around the knee. It may be that over time and long term wear, the pads will more conform to the shape of the knee, but disappointing out of the box.

very thick and long gel knee pads. Great for performing flooring installs or if you are on your knees on a hard surface. Makes it so much easier to get up from the floor. The duration of floor time on your knees is extended I think because of the gel, absorbing the stress on your body. Especially if your an old long distance runner like me. Very good buy.

Received the BLACK LONG CAP LIGHTWEIGHT GEL KNEE PADS over a month ago. Once that I received the new knee pads, I gave my old one to charity, these are so much better for being a little longer and having gel in them, I can stay on my knee for extended periods of time. My old knee pads had Velcro straps that would cut in to the legs, with the new one I have a better way to adjust the tightness and not cut in to you. I would recommend this product.
