Not what I expected
I was shocked when I opened the box and saw a dull looking synthetic material base with the supposed marble top piece being coated with a heavy plastic coating. Way overpriced product which I immediately returned. Don't waste your money on this.

I am sorry that you ended up so disappointed - as you can see from the reviews it is either 5 or 1 stars. The problem is the product is exactly as advertised - we are not being smart or misleading. It is not plastic it is unique new injection molding process which is 70% pulverized clay - and only around 25% recycled plastic. The product was specifically designed this way in order to make these light weight - so that we can affordably ship these with UPS/FEDEX, and make the prooduct much more frost resistant than stone or concrete units. Okay close-up they might look plastic to you (definitely taking them out of the box) but from a few feet away and a little dirty in the garden these look real. I think this is final objective of this product - isn't it why you bought it to have a nice item in between your flowers or in your garden. We made the pedestal on purpose hollow so you can fill it with sand - do this and they suddenly feel heavy and much more durable than they look initially. This was so disappointing. From the photo I thought it was beautiful. Then it came and it is plastic. I returned it.

NOT CLAY! Lightweight plastic
We are so disappointed in this birdbath. It has a flimsy lightweight plastic base and the top is plastic with some veneer that makes it look like ceramic. What a disappointment! It falls over in the slightest wind or if a squirrel jumps on it. It is very low to the ground too. For this price, this is ridiculous that it would be such cheap materials and really a shame that it is represented as being made of clay.

the pieces dont come together well. They are resin and its difficult to align the pieces togethe...
the pieces dont come together well. They are resin and its difficult to align the pieces together...as a result, the birdbath doesnt stand level. I make needs to use a metal file to file some spots on the resin down to get them to fit together properly. Its attractive.

I am very concerned to hear this. This is new to me. Will please call my office and explain this issue so that we can check our inventory. They normally just s crew and push together fine. Yes you do need to push the pedestal down with some force over the foot - but that is on purpose to create a very solid connection. You should not use a file to remove the bumps which stick out - they are there on purpose. Exaco 877 760 8500 ext 701.

I think this is a great birdbath. It is nice and holds a lot of water. It is easy to clean due to it being very light weight. The color is attractive and I would recommend this birdbath if you are looking for one that is economical. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because I do not believe I will be able to leave it out year round with a birdbath heater. I will have to purchase something different for winter, but it that does not bother you- I would buy it!

I was very happy with this purchase. It is easy to handle and clean. Only needed a little help from son putting it together. I did put sand in the inner column and it has withstood the strong winds we have been having lately. It is attractive and adds color to my garden. Have only seen one bird drinking from it but am positive this will increase. Highly recommend this item.

The actual product doesn't look as good as in the photo and the plastic rim is difficult for some...
The actual product doesn't look as good as in the photo and the plastic rim is difficult for some birds to perch on. We definitely recommend filling the base with sand to stabilize it. But overall, the product is good for the price and birds do use it.
