Just what we needed for our extended granite counter top! Extremely well made and heavy duty for holding the counter weight but not at all obtrusive. No more banging our knees on the old wooden corbels with sharpe edges!!

I purchased/installed the 16x16 bracket. This bracket "seems" to be beefy enough to support the load without the gusset seen on most other brackets. I chose this bracket over other suppliers/companies mostly because the width and the thickness are less then the others I found.

Thank you for posting your experience. We're sorry you didn't have a positive experience. Let's review the guidelines for this brackets installation.
The Freedom bracket must be installed into wood with at least 1.75" of biting material and should not be spaced more than 18" apart. The 12x12 Freedom also supports an overhang up to 16". By these guidelines the Freedom will hold 500 pounds in an evenly distributed load. If not installed by these guidelines, the review wouldn't be an accurate assessment. Please check for pdf guides on all Federal Brace products sold on Home Depot for the best experience.
