I've only had this freezer for 3 days so I can't attest to its reliability but I relied on other customer reviews which were very good. For now I love the smaller size. It fits perfectly in my Laundry room. It's very quiet. I purchased a freezer thermometer and placed it inside while it was cooling down to a freeze. It achieved freezer range in about 5 hours and I began to transfer frozen goods from my kitchen side by side freezer. The capacity is great. I've moved just about all of my foods and still have plenty of space. I love the drawers. One large and one narrow. It's been a long time since we've had a separate freezer and it feels good to have such a nice one. I like that it can be locked and that the temp can be adjusted with ease. The high temp and open door alarm is a great feature too. Best of all is it's frost free. Yeah!

Get ready for the best freezer! Lighted, alarm if left open, tiny bell when it is opened, glass shelves, temp on front, plenty of room and seven feet tall. Will certainly buy a second one to replace my 1989 working stand up freezer.

We bought this freezer nearly 12 months ago and have waited to write a review until we had a fair amount of 'use' time. The purchase was made after deciding to get rid of the chest freezer that had been in use for years. Seriously, my wife and I both wish we had gone to an upright years earlier. It's not often that we rate any product this highly, but we are very happy we bought this particular model. Most important for us is managing 'inventory' when the freezer has a full load. With the chest freezer, using plastic storage crates allowed easier access to frozen foods stored on the lower levels. That helped but there were still situations where some items were overlooked and stored too long. Plus the amount of time the chest freezer lid was open (to remove and replace crates) couldn't have been the best for either energy consumption or food storage life. We have been definitely satisfied to date with our purchase this model. The modular interior set up of shelves plus the availability of door bins, slide-out drawers and an interior light has made this an incredibly useful freezer for us. It allows for easy rotation of frozen food stock and a quick look at what we have on hand and what we need to restock. Interior space is outstanding for the two of us, but it would have been fine when our 3 now-grown children were still at home. To give you an idea of how this freezer is used - we do a limited amount vacuum frozen home grown vegetables and a fair amount of fish, game birds and venison. We stock up on various frozen foods as well as beef, pork, chicken, etc. during sales. We do not buy, for example, full sides of beef. Take into consideration your volume purchases when deciding how much interior space is right for you. This is a 'frost free' model. There are some claims that freezer burn can be more of a problem with frost free models, but we've seen absolutely no evidence of that with this model. Keep in mind that we vacuum pack all store-bought and game meats, then take an additional step of using butcher paper to wrap game. The door seal is very tight - it can be a little more difficult to open the door a second time within a minute or two. The open door alarm has also been useful on one occasion and we were really happy the freezer had that feature. In approximately 1 year of use there have been zero problems with this model. Actually quite the opposite, we've been very happy with it. I know that one year is not a long time compared to the expected life of a freezer, but it is a good indicator and so far so good.

So I decided to upgrade my deep freezer. I've own this now since March 2018. I really love it. It's definitely tall. We keep it locked at all times because we got kiddos. At first it was great but then in November / December 2018 we noticed it wasn't locking anymore. So gave Ge a call in 2 days a service guy came out. He found out the lock itself broke. So my whole door had to be ordered. (That took 2 months.)In order to replace a lock you have to replace the whole door on this model. But once the new door went on days later we noticed the alarm kept going off saying high temperatures then ice was developing in it. So Ge had to come back out. Another Ge service guy name Mark noticed it wasn't sealed around the door. So Mark fixed it. I've not had anymore issues since. *When buying an Appliance always make sure you invest in a warranty.*I absolutely love my big deep freezer I'll definitely won't be getting another one for a very long time. The only thing I would change is the color. I really wish there was more options in colors for my deep freezer.

Very nice freezer, but it would be great if had more slots to adjust the shelves.

I just received this freezer yesterday, so it is a little early to leave a rewire or to discuss the longevity to this freezer. The reason that I am writing this review today is to discuss the size of this freezer. yes, it is a tall freezer but it doesn't hold as much as I'd hoped. I had a 7.2 cu. ft. chest freezer, which did a great job at freezing my food but I got sick of unpacking it every time I needed something on the bottom. That said, that little freezer held more food than this 21 cu. ft. GE. A few people leaving reviews about this freezer said that they wished that they had chosen a smaller freezer. I disagree. Had I gone with a smaller freezer my food would never have fit. I bought some baskets to use on the taller shelves to avoid wasting space and that did help to create a little more space. The thing I do love about this freezer is the fact that I can now find what I need without having to hunt for it. I won't go I to all the features of this freezer, since other reviewers have already done so. I would just say, go ahead and get the biggest upright you have room for.

Great storage space really like led lighting and temperature gauge on door. Has two pull out drawers that are a bonus and glass shelves. Plus plenty of storage on door.

This GE freezer was actually made by Midea, a large appliance manufacturer based in China (despite the company now being owned by their competitor, Haier). It has worked very well so far. I like the drawers and lighting as well as the alarm if it gets too warm or the door is left open. Fairly quiet too. It replaced a Whirlpool that died after only four years, so I'm hoping to get more out of it. Time will tell I suppose.

Works like a charm. Great features and quiet. Holds lots and lots of food. Ample space for almost anything. Great lighting inside! Have had it about 6 weeks and so far no complaints whatsoever.

I bought it 4 months ago and got a good deal. It has clear shelves on the door and a big drawer storage at the bottom.The height is about 5 ft tall and looks modern. Perfect for a second refrigerator in the garage. Also, it runs very quiet. I’m glad I chose this refrigerator over the other brand. Overall, I would recommend it.

Delivery persons did a great job, freezer has a quiet operation and the size is nice - spacious but not overly large. Has 4 adjustable shelves, 2 drawers, and 4 door compartments. Nice having the temperature on the front too. Have had it 4 mos. and no problems. Can't think of any dislikes. Would highly recommend.

Purchased from Home Depot 12/2017. Placed freezer in garage on interior wall with 3 inch spacing as recommended by manufacturer. Freezer has shelve configuration far superior to any in its class making it easier to organize frozen items. This freezer is extremely quiet and has very good door seals which hold tight when shut. The interior is well lit with a clean appearance. A great feature is the interior temperature readout and open door /up temp alarm system on the outside of the door. This allows one to readily see temps without "dumping" cold air by opening the freezer door. Of all the freezers that we compared this to, this GE freezer is without a doubt the "most bang for your buck"!

The delivery men removed it from the packaging, set it up and took all the packaging with them. They were great and the freezer is working great

It holds a lot of food. I organize it with little baskets so the frozen green vegetables in one basket— the corn and the squash in another basket— the pork in one basket, the ground beef and beef in another basket and it’s so easy to get to. I could not do this with our old chest freezer. The new one is quiet and clean. and I love it

I love this freezer. The temperature is even, the glass shelves and led lighting is wonderful. It is spacious and has all the bells and whistles. The delivery was very professional and gentle. I felt that they cared about the freezer as much as I did. I would buy this again in an instant.

This freezer replaced my 16 yr old freezer that was no longer available.. It's a little larger but it fit in the alloted space nicely. Size, energy efficiency and being frost free were my required features. The alarm that sounds if the door is left open and the automatic temperature control are nice. I've only had it 30 days, but so far it has met my expectations. I rated 4 stars only because I haven't had it long enough to rate 5 stars.

This freezer is well lit inside and is clean and simple outside with easy to read status. Super Quiet too. What a great addition for a family. We store our popsicles, pizzas, meats and icepacks in this freezer in the basement to free up space from the french door fridge in the kitchen. I like the lighting and clear shelves so its very easy to see the contents. The door is lockable with key and makes a bright signal when the door is opened. The temp setting is on the outside of the door and has an alarm if the temperature becomes higher than the settings due to malfunction or a daughter accidentally leaving the door open a crack. Freezer fit easily down the basement steps and is a great addition to the house.

I appreciate having a door handle so no digging my fingers into a small indent to open. I also like the see-through plastic shelves and drawers inside. The light inside is a nice LED that should last as long as the freezer itself. The Owner's Manual and Installation Instructions are easy to understand. If the control panel is a concern it can be either locked so settings are not changed or put into Dormant mode so that it only lights up briefly when door is opened or a button on the control panel is pushed. Leveling the unit was easy even on an uneven garage floor by using the spinning leveling legs. Compared to our equivalent 15 year old upright freezer that this replaced, this new one uses about 50% less energy per year. The estimated energy cost is less than the older freezer.

The freezer was what we expected, except for one issue. We purchased the freezer using the physical dimensions on the home depot website. The dimension given for the freezer with the door open 90 degrees is wrong. (Depth With Door Open 90 Degrees (In) 50 ) The actual measurement is 57 inches. (See the pictures attached) The additional length of the door made it necessary to rearrange our washer, dryer and move a clothes hanger to accommodate the freezer in the wash room. GE needs to correct the measurements of their product. The Home Depot delivery team could not have been better. We did not discover the issue until the freezer was in place. Rather than return the freezer we choose to move our washer and dryer to accommodate the freezer. The new arrangement works, but, it is not what we wanted for the room. We have had the freezer now for @ a month and it is a good freezer, just not what we planned for the room when we made our decision to purchase this GE freezer. The configuration of our room is uncomfortable and I will probably have the change the door to the room to accommodate the new arrangement.

We have a counter depth fridge in our kitchen which doesn't allow for much freezer space. As a growing family it became more apparent that we needed more freezer space. We grow a lot of vegetables in our garden and have built up a supply of frozen breast milk which has taken up all the freezer space in the kitchen. This makes it difficult to save money by buying things in bulk. We knew we needed a freezer, but what sets this one apart? First of all, it's very quiet. It lives in our basement which serves as a home office. We have another small fridge down there in the bar (the kind that you'd buy for a dorm room) and it has a very loud humming noise to it. I am happy to report that I cannot hear this freezer at all! Locking feature: I can't think of a practical use for a locking feature for practical use in-home, but this freezer has a lock and key. Maybe this would be useful if you're operating a bed and breakfast, share your garage with a neighbor, or have hungry teenagers. Temperature display: Easily adjust the temperature with a push of the button on the front door. I can imagine this saves load of energy as you don't have to open the door to fiddle with any settings. The down side to this is that it's easy to accidentally change the temperature... the plus side, the temperature is clearly displayed so it doesn't go unnoticed. This is important because when storing breast milk, it lasts longer in a deep freeze (-4 F) vs a regular freeze. So I keep it below -4. Freezer space: I won't be running out of room any time soon. In the photos the freezer looks sadly empty, but I have stored in it 3 weeks worth of meat, a couple loaves of bread, some ice, and last season's harvest of rhubarb and tomatillos. This means I can grow more food, and buy in bulk! I think of my grandfather who went deep sea fishing and hunted. He had several upright freezers full of fish and meat to last each year. I imagine this could easily hold a year's worth of meat or fish. Also, it's magnetic. This isn't a deciding factor, but it's nice to have a place to play with magnets. I have so many magnets, but many appliances these days are not magnetic.

Technology and quality make this a easy to use freezer for trouble free storage. Let's start with LED lighting and display that's easy to set on the exterior door. The electronic temperature control is set at 0* and that keeps it at -10* for what I've been reading of the inter temperature I placed inside, setting range is -5* to +5*. There's a fast freeze button, door open warning (sound) and you can lock the display so it can't be changed accidental. There's 4 glass, 2 are adjustable, shelves; 4 full-width clear door bins and 3 clear drawers, two on the bottom and one under the top shelve. It's Frost free, with a Limited 1 Year Warranty and two keys to lock to door. Not the biggest fan of glass shelves, but there OK, the bins and draws work good and are sized nicely. I really like the under shelve draw, fills that space where nothing every goes and provides extra storage. The on door display is great, easy to set, warns of a open door and if temperature rises to high. So in all my GOOD rating is due to the GLASS SHELVES, otherwise this is a tp line freezer, but what else would one expect from GE.

I am always in need of additional freezer space and decided to obtain the new GE 14.1 cu. ft. Frost-Free Upright Freezer. What a drastic improvement this Upright Freezer is over the old chest style freezer. Unlike the chest freezer, this new GE Upright Freezer has great air circulation and keeps all of the contents at the same temperature, even when fully loaded. After using the GE Upright freezer for several weeks, I am very impressed with its performance and features. The GE Upright Freezer makes very efficient use of the space and includes two adjustable fixed glass shelves (partial and full depth), along with two pull-out drawers. The door also has 4 bins for storing smaller items. The interior is illuminated with efficient LED lighting, which makes it easy to view the entire contents of the freezer. The controls are located on the outside to avoid having to open the doors to make adjustments. The temperature setting number is BIG and catches your eye when looking at the freezer. The controls have all sorts of cool features, including Turbo Freeze, Control Lock, High Temp and Open Door Alarms. The temperature range is -10 to 15 degrees Fahrenheit. I love my new GE Upright Frost-Free Freezer. No longer will contents become buried and never used, as was the case with the old chest style freezer. Highly Recommended!!

This is a terrific freezer. First, it is super large. You can probably stock an entire deer inside and still have room for the ice pops. On top of the size, it is well organized with drawers, shelves, and more shelves on the side of the door etc. (see picture.) It is also upright, so you will never ask: "where is my stuff" as everything is, unlike chest freezers, easily accessible and just right there. The freezer also looks pretty handsome with a clean white inside/outside and a very clear control monitor on the door. In order to deter your pet kangaroo from stealing your ice-cream sandwiches or, more seriously, to prevent the kids from playing hide-and-seek in the freezer, there is a super-easy to use door-locking mechanism. So how does it freeze? Pretty effectively and for just a little bit less than 400 kwh/year, it is pretty efficient as well. Strongly recommend this freezer, for its size, organizational features, design, and efficiency.
