Attractive and Rock Solid
This is a satisfyingly solid bench. It's attractive and adjustable height (sitting keyboard height to standing height). Assembly is straight forward. The top is thick, solid wood. The legs are thick steel with a good looking black finish. The legs have wide, sturdy adjustable feet for leveling. The feet have plastic bottoms so this bench can be used indoors without damaging floors. I bought one for an office desk/workbench. The solid wood top allowed me to bolt on a keyboard drawer. You can probably have a couple of adults dancing on top with ease. You can slide a rolling file cabinet under it to one side if you want. This workbench looks better than most office desks in the same price range. It's not a cheap bench but I felt it was a good value. This thing will last a lifetime. I'm going to buy another one for the garage. Note: The height adjustment is set with 8 bolts so it takes major effort to adjust. It is not meant to be adjusted frequently.

Super Nice and Sturdy Workbench
This is an excellent workbench. It is extremely heavy, the frame is thicker gauge steel and the top is solid wood. The bench is height adjustable and has a lot of variation in height available to fit nearly any preference. I like mine a little higher so I don't have to bend far to reach out over it. I was able to mount my bench vice directly to the top. I had to be careful to miss the framework when drilling the holes, but the result was nice (see photos). Although this workbench is kind of expensive, it is so well made you will be handing it down to your grandchild.

A solid, heavy and heavy duty workbench
This workbench is not fancy - no drawers, no storage, no moving parts other than the adjustable height legs. It is simply a solid, heavy duty work surface. The top is 1-3/4" thick, made of solid hardwood. The legs are tubular steel and adjustable, with leveling feet. It was fairly easy to assemble, and only took about 20 minutes. The weight of the bench is the largest concern. Moving it requires either plenty of strength or two people. Even the legs are heavy to move around. That weight just equals strength and stability - both good for a workbench. I added a shelf between the cross braces of the legs, made out of plywood. It works well and gives me some additional storage space below the bench. I really like the bench and can see it lasting forever. The leveling feet are a nice touch. My garage slopes (as do most), and the leveling feet resolved that without me having to shim it. I like that a lot. The only thing I would like to see is some kind of shelving or drawers under the top. The space is there, and it would make it a much more functional workspace.

The Ultimate Reloading Bench
This 8ft Hardwood Top Adjustable Height Workbench In Hammered Granite by Gladiator replaced a 35 year old wooden lumber yard kit workbench. The old bench was never great, but as a young man, it was all I could afford. It had been a display model at a local store that has since gone out of business, and was on clearance, so I got it dirt cheap. Being made of low grade lumber, it was wobbly and shaky, so I added tons of 3-inch deck screws to it, and applied plywood onto the plank top. It worked, but it was never pretty to begin with, just functional. And 35 years of work on it didn't help it any, either. Then, this 8ft Hardwood Top Adjustable Height Workbench In Hammered Granite by Gladiator came into my life! WOW, what a difference! It was delivered to me, and even though the box was dented at one end, the new workbench was not damaged. It took two of us to haul the workbench into my basement in three trips. There is no two ways about it, the absolutely gorgeous Maple wood top is one seriously heavy beast! Gladiator must have made some design changes, because unlike some others have described, the leg sections on mine arrived pre-assembled. The box contained the top, two leg end-sections, the back plate, the hardware blister-pack and the instructions. Assembly is so simple, the instructions were not needed, although, I have to give Gladiator props for putting together a nicely designed instruction booklet, complete with nice illustrations. Some of us are mechanically challenged, so good instructions are important. I also give Gladiator praise for including one extra lag screw and one extra bolt for the back-plate. I always appreciate getting extra hardware with an item, when so many times just the opposite happens and you end up with not enough from some manufacturers. It is very frustrating to spend good money on something, get part way through assembly, only to find out that you don't have enough hardware to put the item together! It only costs the manufacturer a few cents to include extras, but knowing that they planned ahead and considered you the consumer makes you appreciate them all the more. I happen to have a collection of Allen wrenches, but I was also pleased to see Gladiator includes an Allen wrench for you to fasten the back-plate bolts. Bravo, Gladiator! I had begun to assemble my new workbench, and it dawned on me that I had it backwards in the room, so that once assembled, and flipped over, the back would not be facing the wall I planned to place it against. The room would be too narrow to turn it around in, once fully assembled, so I took it back apart, turned it around in sections, and then proceeded to assemble it again. So, learn a lesson from my mistake, and plan ahead for where you intend to place your bench! Other than the Allen wrench they give you with the hardware, the only other tool I needed was a 14mm socket and ratchet. A simple 14mm open-end wrench would also work, but would just be slower. The bottom of the bench top is pre-drilled, and, I might add, the holes are perfectly sized for the lag-screws that go in them. The last workbench I got from another manufacturer, had the holes drilled too small for the screws that went in them, so I had to drill those holes out bigger. Not so, with this beautiful Gladiator. I left the lag screws just a little loose, in case I needed to adjust the fit a little once I had all the hardware in place. Once the legs were mostly, but not completely screwed down, I installed the back-plate to the legs with the Allen-head bolts, and tightened those down completely. I then installed the remaining lag-screws that hold the back-plate to the bench top. To my happy surprise, every single hole lined up perfectly, so my precaution of leaving lag-screws just a little loose so I could make adjustments was not necessary. Again, I give Gladiator praise for their quality control! Also, when I first saw the back-plate, I expected it to be just a flimsy piece of sheet metal, that would be of minimal strength for stabilizing the end legs and top. Not at all! I was impressed that it is a heavier gauge metal than I thought, and has some strength to it. So too, the leg system is very beefy, well-designed, and built like a tank! Once all the lag-screws were cinched down, it came time to roll the bench over on its side, then stand it up on its feet. Just looking at the leg sections, I thought at first that I'd want the bench set to its full height, so I left it as it came out of the box. Once I had it standing upright, I realized that it was too tall in comparison to my other benches, and I needed it to top out at about 35-36 inches. By this point, my helper had gone home, so I was faced with trying to re-adjust the legs on a bench that is far too heavy for one person to lift, turn over, and adjust the height on the legs. So, I used a mechanic's floor jack, to lift one end at a time, adjust the legs to my desired height, then lower it back down, and repeat the process at the other end. That worked like a charm, with no strain or pain! Gladiator installed some high-quality height-adjustable feet on the bottom of the legs, so you can level the bench out, once in place. In my case, I didn't need to level it, but working alone, if I had needed to level it, a floor jack would have been a big help. The plastic they use in the adjustable feet is nice and slick, so I was able to slide the bench into place with no problem working by myself. Because of the nature of the feet, if you have a nice floor that you don't want scratched, these feet would also protect your floor better than some I have seen. All assembled, and in position where I want it, I stood back to admire the finished bench. I have to say that Maple top is just absolutely gorgeous! It could easily be used as a dining table, a desk, or other piece of furniture in your home. I would not want to mess up that gorgeous top with a car transmission, or pounding something with a hammer, or other abuse. But, I have to say that as thick and hard as that gorgeous Maple is, and as stout as the leg system is, I firmly believe that it would handle the 3,000 pound weight capacity they claim, and would handle just about any abuse you could mete out. Personally, its just too pretty to be abused, so I will dedicate mine to being my reloading and gunsmithing workbench, and for other jobs where I need a smooth, clean surface with no cracks for tiny parts or hardware to fall into, etc. I'll use my cheaper, lesser quality workbenches for the abusive work, and try to keep this one clean and pretty. Now, I just need to get myself some nice, comfortable bar-stools to place at this bench! All said and done, I have nothing but praise for Gladiator, for the foresight and common sense they put into their product. If this bench is any indication of the quality of their other products, I'd love to have more Gladiator products! I don't say that lightly either. Anyone who has read my product reviews, knows that I can be brutally tough on manufacturers when they do a poor job, and I don't praise unless it is deserved. With this workbench, you'll get your full money's worth, and have a very nice piece of equipment to last you a lifetime. So too, I want to praise the delivery service, for the care, diligence and great service they provided in delivery this very large, very heavy item, intact, with not a speck of damage. Thanks Gladiator, and Home Depot!

Have to return
I almost never leave reviews but the quality of this particular workbench has really let me down. After carrying this upstairs and opening the box I noticed an odd looking streak in the surface of the bench. I didn't think much of it until after I set up the bench. The streak appeared to be a wood filler that one would use to fill gaps in joints used on the surface of the maple top to fill in a crack or gash in the wood. Sure enough, after just a week the filler started cracking and if I tried ( I didn't) I could easily just scrape the rest out with a fingernail. I posted a picture where you can see the crack and in the middle the filler has flaked out. I had not even used the bench at all and I already had a nice size crack in it. Also, there is 6 inch section of maple that had the wood filler in it too. Not too big of a deal on the later but I expected something better for $600. I called Gladiator and they said they couldn't help me. So it goes back to Home Depot. I will try another though.

The best solution ever!!
The Gladiator work bench is a perfect solution for my sewing room!! The work surface is outstanding, the adjustable height feature is great and there is also plenty of room underneath to store plastic tubs and larger sewing material like rolled batting, etc. Also, because it has the white paint coated surface it doesn't look industrial at all. I could have chosen the 6 foot workbench but I'm thrilled with the 8 foot workbench. It was heavy to load & unload but easy to put together. It does take two people to move it and adjust the height.

8ft Bambo Gladiator workbench
Extremely heavy duty workbench was well packed for shipment & assembly was straight forward. The table is made in USA & it shows. Quality is very obvious. This 8ft model is certainly heavy so be prepared for a 2 or 3 person team to load/unload plus place into service. Adjustable height allows for placing other cabinets underneath & considering the beefy construction this one doesn't need cross or diagonal braces that would get in the way for that. The bamboo is not only tough to beat on a workbench, it looks great. I got lucky & caught this one on sale with free freight shipment to my nearby Home Depot.

Perfect
This is perfect for my intended use. The adjustability is wonderful.. I have it as high as it goes and can stand and make jewelry. Much better on the back and neck. It is sturdy and looks good enough to put in my family room. Great workbench. I would recommend it for other aspiring jewelry artists.. My husband wants one for the garage!

Damage in delivery
I had this workbench delivered direct to my home. Delivery guys dropped off on front sidewalk, signed for me, rang my doorbell, and left immediately. I walked out as they were driving away and refused to stop. The box showed damage and under the damage a gauge on wood top. Now I have 150lb/8 ft box that I waited several weeks for that I have to tape up the packaging and return and start all over again with another product.

Home Depot sent notification the item was damaged and a refund was automatically processed. I did not request a refund, Home Depot should not have made that decision. Upon receipt the item box was damaged. When I asked the Home Depot employee if the item was damaged, he said, "Sir, only the box is damaged" and then walked away. Upon inspection the item had moderate damage.

    Fantastic Workbench
I have built my own workbenches for years, both wood working and metal working. This Gladiator workbench, bought through Home Depot, is absolutely fantastic. It is solid as a rock; looks good; solid construction; easy to assembly; and effortless height adjustment. I am very fussy in selecting my tools, shop and equipment. Thank you Gladiator for a brilliant piece of engineering and manufacturing. The packaging includes lots of foam padding, so this arrived undamaged.

I was concerned about damage being done to the table top during shipping, as noted by other customers. Luckily only a miner abrasion occurred on the edge of the top. Packaging should be improved to fix this issue. Proper packaging isn’t rocket science!! The work bench is in place and performing as advertised. Great product!!

Exactly what I was looking for
It was easy to set up - but just a quick note, you'll need a socket wrench if you are putting it together yourself. Very sturdy (heavy!), and I love that it is adjustable. A perfect work table.

      Sturdy, High Quality Table
We've purchased several tables of various sizes from Gladiator. These are very durable, and heavy duty. The only thing that I guess would be a negative is the lack of a bottom shelf.

Have never been disappointed with a Gladiator product!!
This worktable was everything I expected. It was very easy to assemble. The legs were completely assembled just neded to be adjusted to my desired height. The back panel was easy to install and the top was, well heavy but that's what I expected. It took no time to assemble and place this table. I have been purchasing and using Gladiator garage gear for 15 years and will continue to purchase more as the need arises. I expect that this table will outlast me. Gladiator Products, thanks for a great product line!!!
