Easy to use, dried quickly. Too bad it isn't stocked in-store and it should be available in something larger than half pint quantities.

I used it to darken the top of my kitchen island. Love the old mahogany color!

Bought the Hardwood Reflections European Walnut unfinished countertop. Used their Satin Top Coat gel stain. Just like in their video it really brought out the natural colors in the wood. Unfortunately when the 3rd and 4th coats were applied, it left the surface rough. Like it has a bunch of brush marks across the whole surface. I applied it with a tee shirt and Wiped up any excess gel. The surface looked smooth, even and shined when I was finished applying (a small project, 2x3ft counter, so only took a 10 to 15 minutes to apply). As it dried, the roughness became visible and you could feel it when dry. I sanded with 220 and 320 grit between coats to smooth it, but the texture returns. Not sure what to do now. Will likely leave it cure a month and maybe try to recoat. At $20 for a half pint, this stuff should cure smooth as a babies bottom. I’m very disappointed!

This top coat applies smoothly, if applied with even amounts and leveled with care parallel to the grain. High quality product.

The color was basically black with just one coat. There was no brown tint to it at all. Very disappointed.

Easy to apply and looks great. THIS ISNT FOOD SAFE! I bought it with my hardwood reflections walnut counter top which is great. Why they recommend a stain with a wood countertop that isn't food safe is beyond me. You'd think that a label that says in caps BUTCHER BLOCK on the front would be food safe, or at least right on the front say NOT FOOD SAFE. Ended up applying mineral oil that is on the other side. Because I plan on cooking in my kitchen. Highly recommend for wood that wouldn't touch food as its good looking.

Great stain. I used 1 coat of dark walnut followed by 2 coats of the satin top. I did that because the color was perfect. Ensure that you leave no brush strokes or drips, you will see them!

I don't like leaving bad reviews, but I need to speak out about this stain, in case it can save someone else some headache. I like the company, maybe I got a bad batch, but this stain was unusable, too thick to get any good coverage, and went on like mud. It was impossible to wipe off, which was a huge shame because I think where it did wipe off, it left a rich and deep beautiful color. I had to thin it with mineral spirits and sand off the rest because it was too uneven and dark that the grain was masked. This is not my first rodeo with butcher block staining, I've used Watco Danish Oil, Varathane, Tung, even good old fashioned mineral oil. My advice is, unless you need a stain, go with a mineral oil for the rich color, and use some wax to cover it. If you need the dark walnut, just use the Danish oil, flood it, let it self level, and cover it with wax or a wipe on poly, depending on your needs. This is way too expensive to be this much of a letdown, especially for the size. I also had the satin finish and it went on fine, just a few manageable brush marks. If this stain had the consistency of the satin finish, it would have been fine, but as it is, I cannot recommend this. It could have been just a one-off bad batch, but as of now I only wish I could still get a refund.

Yes. This stuff is AWESOME. It goes farther than you think it will. And it reall brings out the color in the Sapele Butcher block as it is an oil.based urethane. It’s great stuff. I already ordered two more cans.
