Very good quality, works as expected the wand holder is made of aluminum and steel. It holds the sponge perfectly and the wire mesh cleaner. Perfect for fast cleaning. It reaches 750 degrees pretty fast.

Man.... I have been using budget soldering irons for years, resulting in a frustraiting, some what unsucessful amateur foray into the world of soldering. This machine has changed the game for me. I can solder anything now with confidence and success. I did a lot of research into other soldering stations, and after extensive hours of research settled of the Hakko 888D. It heats up super fast, it is easy to adjust, it is small and does not take up much room on my bench. The pen holder is top notch, with a sponge, and brillo. The pen is ergonomicaly comftorable, and it comes with a great tip that is well suited for many applications. It also looks super cool with the purple and yellow! Do yourself a favor and drop the money on an awesome soldering station!

Very well made heats up in nano seconds lol really really fast and accessories or more like consumables are cheap and plentiful and tips come in a wide range, it only comes with one do, i had to set on the hd web page the product availability reminder becouse this is a well price hot item that you have to buy from a reliably source becouse its subject to cloning or "fakes" in other words buy it here or from other reputable vendors, great product and i am very pleased with it, easy to use comes with preset temps that you can change. Instructions manual is very well redacted save it and right down the part number for the wet sponge and cleaning wire as well. Comes extremely well package and at the bottom of the liner that covers the box its a very detail graphic table that shows you all the tips that fit this model. Home Depot has them all in their web page for same price that every one else plus they are legit and they come extremely well package as well.

I always used cheap RadioShack irons that take minutes to heat up, have no heat adjustment, and struggled to find replacement tips. The worst part about cheaper irons is they led to improper solder habits, because the tip never transfers enough heat to wick solder into the wire or you overheat the wire (no control). I am on here to purchase a second 888D, this one is for my dad who taught me how to solder but would never splurge on a unit this nice.

The unit is very good. It was a little different than it was described in the instructions but this was a minor issue. I would strongly suggest ordering a few different types of soldering tips. It will save you time later

This is a great soldering iron. You can get cheaper ones, but this one is just such a breeze to use. It heaps up and is ready to go in a minute after turning it on. It keeps a stable temperature, and you can set it exactly so that you don't have to worry about accidentally burning electrical components and chips.

It is the best soldering iron I have used so far. Don't change temp when it displays "adj" or it will change the temperature calibration. You will have to do a factory reset if this happens, by holding both arrow buttons down while powering on the station.

Nice to be able to digitally set the temperature. Works great.

This is a nearly perfect electronics soldering station for the hobbyist or electronics technician in every respect. Perfect performance, excellent quality, easy and comfortable to use. I've used many brands, but since I've gone to Hakko I haven't looked back.

I’ve always used pencil irons. Needed to step up for an BOTTLEHEAD DIY amplifier. Turns out I can solder effectively when given the better tool. Works GREAT and doesn’t break the bank!

Heats up fast and works great! I was able to re-solder several capacitors on my car's LED clock and repaired it without problems. That was the goal.

Great working soldering iron.

Just recieved, very quickly even during corona crisis. in the pictures the build quality I assumed might be cheap but i trusted reviews and pulled the trigger. Holy crap this thing is heavy, solid, and feels well built. Heats up really fast, really hot. I only wished it had better controls and it would be perfect. This is not a long term review, might follow up later if possible.

It was the wrong soldering iron. It was not designed for soldering stained glass.

This is a fantastic soldering station. It heats up very fast and you have complete control of the temp. You should carry this in-store, there are not many places you can find them locally.

Wow, I've never used one of these upper level soldering irons but a project I was working on required a more delicate touch. This tool worked perfectly, great temp range and speed in heating up. Be sure to read the instructions- it can do more things than it looks like :)
