This portable cooler works like a champ!!! We used it in our garage, and even on the patio while we were building a barrel train. It saved us from heat stroke! Everyone who works outside and has access to electricity should own one of these. I definitely would purchase again if the need arises!

I bought this to cool my 900 square foot shop and I’m actually disappointed with it. It doesn’t seem to cool that well and it produces a lot of humidity for very little benefit.

Dear Valued Home Depot Customer, We have reached out to the manufacturer and their reply is, DearJ P, we apologize for any confusion regarding this evaporative cooler. This unit is designed as a high-velocity cooling fan and not a traditional air conditioner. It works best in open or well-ventilated spaces, as it adds humidity to the air. For enclosed areas, this can lead to a less effective cooling experience. Ensuring proper ventilation can help achieve better results.

Cools the gazebo even when the outside temp is 95 degrees. Has 3 fan speeds and it oscillates, which provides great cooling.

I set it up and it started to cool immediately. Added water and it cooled down 20 degrees. I haven't had to turn it higher than the low fan setting.

Indoor swamp cooler for RV? Yes, but...
New to evap coolers. Liked the low power consumption and can operate for free with my solar electric system inverter (this unit is like plugging in a small crock pot.) Decided to add dehumidifier to operate with this cooler for a total of about 300 watts, so both units will run for free on 2000 watt PSW inverter. Unit was scuffed a bit and hose adapter came damaged and unusable. Hoping for lower electricity bills and less wear and tear on window A/C unit.

    It like replacement parts
I own three of these MC18 units. I live in Colorado so the air is dry. I've replaced 2 pumps so far. They are easy to replace but I've only owned these units for maybe 3 or 4 years and only use them like July, August, Sept. When they work, they do produce cool air. Makes a big different in a hot dry house. The place to add the water for indoor use is awkward and tiny. A used gallon jug is probably the easiest but this is a time consuming affair. I usually have 2 prefilled gallons for the middle of the night. Not fun, but neither is being too hot. I replaced the media once but I honestly think it was a waste of money. The media inside seemed fine. Hard water kills the pumps so just be aware. We have softened water but these units will find every mineral in the water and make it dry like chalk... I have 2 out of 3 working now. One seems to have died. I thought it was the switch so I replaced it but it stills fails to run on a GFCI outlet but on a normal outlet it runs but then I smell burning circuits. I may salvage it for parts. I don't know what other parts it would need.... I feel like for $200+ each it should not be failing so often and easily. Feels like plastic junk. I may try a 3100 CFM unit but I am wary of this brand given the low quality of these units.

This is marketed as an indoor portable A.C. That is far from the truth, I bought this because I sleep in my garage in a shared home and it’s extremely hot. This thing doesn’t work unless you have a window or door available to be opened 24/7 Waste of 500 dollars. Don’t buy it made my whole garage turn into a sauna in just 2 minutes.

Amazingly powerful and efficient cooling for an open concept living/dining room space. Fan works great on it's own to move air. Well suited to dry climates

      Definitely cools!! Works great!!
I live in the South (Memphis, TN), so humidity is HIGH. I did a lot of research to make sure a swamp/evaporative cooler would make enough of a difference to justify the expense. IT DOES! I use this in my garage, and while I may not feel exactly cool, it makes enough of a difference that I am comfortable. With just a fan, I’d still be sweating. Don’t sweat when I use this, and don’t feel sticky, like the air is too humid. Only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is bc I didn’t get the color I ordered.

It works okay outside. Inside, even with the back up against an open window, the humidity in the room is stifling. It gets way too humid to use inside even a large room.

Dear Valued Home Depot Customer, We have reached out to the manufacturer and their reply is We regret to hear about your experience with our evaporative cooler. These units are intended to function as high-velocity cooling fans and add humidity to the air. They are most effective in open or well-ventilated spaces. It didn't do as well as expected. Instead of blowing out cold air, hot air was blowing out. It may have been this TEXAS HEAT (109)!!!!!!!

I understand that it is not an air conditioning unit, but I expected the air to be a little bit cooler than what it is. It's really just a little bit better than a big fan.
