the blade locks in place at vertical position
When using at a horizontal position the blade gets stuck closed and you have to bring it all the way down to get the spring to unlock and the blade to open. With the 2 extensions attached it is very heavy and impossible to use at horizontal. Maybe they should tell you that this is only for cutting vertical above you. I purchased this to cut from my 2nd and 3rd floor balconies a tree next to the balconies but it kept getting stuck and it was too heavy to extend out from the balconies.

    Gets the Job Done
Gets to hard-to-reach places. Very sharp cutter. Hard to manage at times, but it's 18 feet long. Not to be used in a horizontal position--it's fiberglass with a lot of weight on the end.

This device is well designed and manufactured. It’s also too heavy but that’s a testimony to its sturdiness. Very pleased with its functionality.

With all three poles attached the product is a little heavy, however it allows me to cut branches (neighbors tree that hangs over into my backyard) without using a ladder, product is as advertised, would definitely recommend.

My Jameson pruner kicks arss. Blade is sharp right out of the box, the rope is a good length, and with 3 poles there is no branch I can’t reach. Only minor thing is I needed to add some lubricant to stop the blade from sticking after each limb I clipped.

Tried cheaper but this is worth the money
I've been doing this a fair while and I've tried all the knock off brands. The Jameson stuff just performs better. It's lighter and easier to use. Lasts forever and you can sharpen the blade yourself. As they say good tools pay for themselves.

The pruner, and my yard helper, worked perfectly. It is much larger than I needed. Did not need the extra poles. Great purchase.

      Does what it says
Trimmed my tree with some branches that I wanted to cut before they get too big and did the job. You need some good strength in your arms for all three poles or you going to add more poles

3 sections make it very unstable. Hard to believe they sell them with more extension poles. It gets verrry wobbly with 3 poles attached. The cutter itself would stick out of the box. Don't want it sticking when your trying to cut 18' up. Need very strong arms and shoulders for that high up. The aluminum to aluminum pole connection sections get galled after a couple uses. The rope was frayed in several places out of the box. You would think they would have an outgoing QC dept to check these things. All in all not impressed. Overpriced for what you get.

        Excellent Quality and very effective
Wasn't sure about this pruner - but as soon as we started using it we noted how effective it is! Yes, at 18 ft the pole is hard to manage but we expected that as it's a long pole pruner! At 12 feet its totally easy. The levers on the blade make pruning a breeze. Just a moderate pull on the rope and the branches come down easily. it easily cuts through some pretty solid branches. The manufacturer claims it cuts one and a quarter inch limbs - and I'd say that's pretty correct! the cuts a re smooth and clean and quite easy! Very happy with the purchase.

Excellent pruner. Smooth cutting action, nice quality throughout, well engineered. The three extension poles fit together firmly and are very strong, also easy to get apart. The 18’ length is great when you need to prune up high. The cutting head is heavier than expected but not a deal breaker.

Yes, it is difficult to operate, but what would one expect from a 18' pole with a relatively heavy tool attached to its end? It feels exactly as I expected; it needs careful handling and slow thoughtful movement. Do not wave it, it's not a flag; be extremely careful if you need to lean it. Normal working position is vertical, meaning you are right under the bough you are going to cut, and it is going to fall right on your head. Hard hat is strongly advisable. It helps if you have somebody looking from afar to guide your movements. Do not forget to check the knot which attaches the rope to the dead eye on the pole. Mine came loose and would slip off if I would not redo it before starting.

          Don't buy this one
Pruning head is much too big and heavy; very cumbersome even @ 6'.
