I bought two and had to exchange for both. Both of them beeped 3 times in about 30 seconds intervals. Either the sensor malfunction or battery issues based on my research.

If you need a random 3AM wake up call
False Alarms galore. Whole house wired with these units. 8 total. Builder has replaced several due to random alarms already. Says they have a dedicated service tech doing these daily. Replace batteries every 6 months to try and avoid alarms. Clean bi weekly. Even the replacements do the same thing. I get it these are cheap so builders use to pass code but they only good to terrify pets and children whom constantly get scared when they go off for no reason.

    Goes off randomly at night.
Alarm goes off randomly without any reason. Builder electrician says same problem with many homes. Problem fixed by replacing with different model.

I purchased this alarm over four months ago. The battery front-load (battery compartment) makes installation easy. The functionality is simple. The alarm works so well I purchased a second two months later. Kidde is my go-to fire alarm!

Quick replacement with the same smoke detector. Home Depot online has been great every time! As fast as next day and frequently free delivery. So nice to know if an item like this is not available at my closest Home Depot.

I was replacing six 20 year old Firex units. I removed the old units and brackets, then replaced all the wire harnesses, then mounted the new brackets and units. Split level, units on three floors. Done in a little over an hour. Couldn’t have been easier.

      False Alarms
I moved into a new construction that has one of these in each of the 3 bedrooms and in less than 2 months I've already had false alarms (all very late at night) and looking at the manufacturer's website they've got tons of similar reviews from 2023-2024 for the same issue. I have checked the batteries and they were showing as good but I replaced them anyhow. No real fix. Going to be contacting the builder, hopefully they will agree to replace with something less awful but I'm not hopeful.

Hello. Before you replace the alarms, please call us at 1-800-880-6788 with the alarms in hand. We do stand behind our products and we are happy to troubleshoot and figure out what is going on and get an issue resolved. If you have had issues after 2 months, it is possible that some of your alarms may be in one the locations to avoid listed in the owner's manuals. This would especially include alarms being installed within 3 ft (.9m) of a forced air supply ducts used for heating or cooling, ceiling or whole house ventilating fans, or other high air flow areas. We recommend that alarms not be installed near vents, flues, chimneys, or fans. We recommend that alarms not be installed near doors or windows near areas directly exposed to the weather. We strongly recommend not to install these alarms in garages, attics, and crawl spaces as you will get temperatures, dust, insects, and chemicals that can cause nuisance alarms. If you have the issue again, find the alarm setting off all of the others and call us with that alarm in hand at 1-800-880-6788 so we can get this resolved for you.
        False-Alarms
I haven't even been in my newly built home for 2 months and I'm already getting false alarms late at night. Can't believe the builder chose such an awful product with such clearly awful reviews. The alarm is in a bedroom, there was absolutely nothing that should have set it off. The battery tested as good but I replaced it anyhow. I don't think that's the issue.

          NO MOUNTING SCREWS
This brand doesn’t seem to include mounting screws!

New construction home built in 2023. We have 8 of these hardwired. First time they went off the alarm company called the fire department who looked at us crazy after we raced home and met them there because there was no fire. Second time, full on alarm at 3am with no smoke in sight. This morning woke us up again chirping. Electrician swapped half of them out and these are horrifying garbage and have nearly traumatized us with their demon spirits

Replaced an outdated detector of same model that had stopped working. New one plugged right in and started working immediately, no problems so far.

              False alarms with good batteries
We have 8 hardwired that are ~3 yrs old now - replaced older Firex units for false alarms. Batteries changed each year. All was good until last night the alarms went off waking us all up. No fire or smoke to be found. We tested the Duracell 9v batteries(as specified) measuring greater than 9V DC. It's likely one bad alarm out of the 8 that still needs to be determined, but very frustrating when the blazing waken us at night. This alarm has disappointed us. We expected 10 yrs of performance and now we are troubleshooting after 3yrs.
