Do not buy Klein mm400
I bought the MM 400 because it had such great reviews and supposed to be a solid multi meter. I used mine literally two times to check battery voltage only on a 12 V system. The third time I went to use it the reading is erratic in all over the place. I do not know where my receipt is unfortunately. I called Klein and they told me they do not repair them and without my receipt, they will do nothing. I will never buy another. Klein tool. I am a school bus mechanic and I will never recommend this meter to anyone. Total garbage.

Klein tools digital multimeter electrical test kit is a complete kit with everything the DIYer needs for home electric checks and even came with a pouch that holds all the tools and batteries to get you started. If you don’t have a home electrical kit, this is a great kit to start with. It comes with a quick check voltage tester AC 24-240V/DC 32-320V, Digital volt ohm meter, AC electrical GFCI outlet tester, test leads and a case to store it all.

This kit has all my electrical testing needs in one package. I do minor handyman electrical and have relied for years on an old analog tester, not very handy to use and not exactly accurate. This kit includes a digital meter which I can use for testing batteries (answering the question “Is it the batteries or the device?”), testing continuity on light bulbs (“Is it the light bulb or the circuit?), as well as specific AC/DC voltage, DC current, resistance, DC Millivolts, DC Milliamps or Microamps, and diodes. In short, the meter has everything I will ever need and then some. The GCFI tester plugs into an outlet and immediately tells you if any outlet is wired correctly and if not, specifically what the problem is. The noncontact voltage tester has a built-in flashlight and identifies the presence of voltage by placing the probe in proximity of cable, lighting green for on, blue for the presence of low voltage and red for the presence of high voltage. The contact voltage tester quickly notes the voltage of the circuit at 24V, 48V, 120V, or 240V. I feel like a kid in a candy store with this testing kit and no longer have to ask, “Is it the voltage or the testing tool?”.

The Klein Tools MM320 Electrical Test Kit is one of those products, where the more you use it, the more you like it! You don’t have to be an electrician to use any of the four tools included in this electrical test kit. The simplest tool to use is the NCVT-3P Non-Contact Voltage Tester with Flashlight. Just hold the clear plastic tip close to an outlet opening, or cord on an appliance and wait for the green light to change to red indicating voltage. If you’re replacing a light fixture and notice many wires tucked into the electrical box, you can check the presence of voltage in each wire before touching the wires. There is a small flashlight built into this device that works independently from the testing feature. This unit uses 2-AAA batteries included in the kit. Most homeowners/DIYer’s will use the ET45 for one purpose. The ET45 unit tests AC voltages from 28V to 240V AC at four levels commonly used residential voltages, and DC voltages from 32V to 330V at four common levels. What makes this unit easy to use is the built-in test lead holders on back. The leads are spaced correctly to test common outlets, you may have to try pressing the leads several times to get passed the tamper-resistant outlets installed in most newer homes. The test leads come with a protective covering that allows only the tips of the testers to be exposed. To test outlets, you will need to remove these coverings from the test leads. The RT210 is an outlet tester. It detects the most common wiring problems in standard and GFCI receptacles. Just plug it into your outlet and look at the combination of indicator lights. The code table is printed on the side of the tester so you don’t have to remember all 6 codes. In my opinion, if you have done any basic wiring in your home, you will be able to fix the error codes shown on this tester. YouTube has many videos explaining what the error codes are and how to correct them. I like the GFCI trip button on the tester. You can trip the GFCI outlet from a common outlet that is protected by the GFCI outlet if your outlets are wired and working correctly. The MM320 Digital Multimeter is constructed of a material that has a slight texture and rubberized feel to it. The multimeter won’t slip out of your hand. When you not holding the MM320, it has a stand that folds out of the back so you can place the unit upright on a stable surface. The function selector has that same tactile feel and a secure turning dial that clicks into place. The display is large and easy to read. Like the ET45 tester, the test leads come with a protective covering that allows only the tips of the testers to be exposed. To expose more of the test leads, you will need to remove these coverings from the test leads. This unit uses 2-AAA batteries included in the kit. The MM320 has two fuses, which can be accessed by removing the battery cover. I really like this tester; it is well made and has many features/functions. Not only can use it in and around your home, but it has automotive applications as well. I have spent a lot of time online looking at the Klein Tools YouTube channel and watching independent videos to learn the many different ways of using the MM320 Digital Multimeter. Hopefully, people will use this multimeter for more than testing batteries?

The Klein multimeter test kit is an excellent electrical tool set. The set includes a handheld multi meter, a small voltage tester, an outlet polarity tester with GFCI button and a contactless voltage tester. The meter has all the expected features of a good quality meter. The probes easily snap on the back or extend for easy operation. A flip out stand provides about a 45 degree angle screen view. An all around good quality meter. The small voltage tester works on AC and DC and reads out at 4 levels. AC readings are 24, 48, 120 and 240. DC readings are 32, 64, 160 and 330. The outlet tester has the 3 light system with the coding printed on the unit. It includes the button tester for GFCI. Finally, the contactless voltage tester is my favorite. It detects AC voltage from 12V to 1000V. It also has a built in flashlight. It will save a lot of time and make old work a lot easier. These are excellent tools for electrical work.

Like every other Klein tool I’ve ever used in my lifetime, this kit is of high quality. You get the plug in type circuit tester which works well, a basic circuit tester with probes that will show 24 vs 48 vs 120 vs 240V, a contactless tester (a must for any DIY electrical work), and a full service voltmeter. Just to note, with the new tamper resistant outlets, it was difficult for me to use the tools with the probes- this isn’t a fault of the tool, but just something I thought was worth noting.

Klein Tools Digital Multimeter Electrical Test Kit consists of four standard test instruments with a soft storage case and batteries. These four electrical test instruments seen available separately, and Klein is bundling them together in a kit with a soft case. They all have special uses and overlapping functionality. I've used these instruments over the years and convenient all together in one kit. The most generally useful is a Digital Multimeter (model MM320) with two electrical contact leads. It is battery operated with a large display and function dial, similar to others. It goes from the simplest functions such as a continuity tester and alarm, to measuring AC/DC voltage, amperage and resistance. The readout is large and easy to read and the function dial is well made with a reassuring clicking sound as it turns. As for the range and functions all pretty standard. The two handy tools for household wiring troubleshooting instruments are a Non-Contact Voltage Tester and an Outlet Tester. The Outlet Tester covers both standard and GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter ) receptacles to detect wiring problems. Working around the house these are the two most often used testers I use. The Voltage Tester detects AC voltage, and doubles as a pen size flashlight handy for those looking for the circuit breaker enclosure in the dark. Lastly, the AC/DC Voltage Tester that reminds me of a newer version of older twin-lead testers, commonly called a pigtail tester. The Klein version will not only light in the presence of voltage when touching the contact leads, but four Christmas tree lights to indicate the range: 24, 48, 120 and 240 volt electrical lines. At times this is all you'll need along with the non-contact tester, both easily slip in a shirt pocket. Klein's test kit will go a long way to troubleshoot electrical problems and the mulitmeter greatly expands its uses to electrical components. Klein has a quality reputation to back it all up for long service life.

There’s a lot to like about this kit. The meter is a nice little meter for the price. It’s made with typical rugged Klein quality and is durable with a very easy to read display. A few things I like about it is the probe storage on the back is well designed and thought out. I also like that the magnet attachment on the back is the same as the one on my Klein clamp on meter so I can use the magnet I already had which is a very handy addition and worth the price to add. The stand on the back of the meter is OK. It maybe could be a little heavier but that is about the only thing I would change. Time will tell how it holds up. It may be fine. The light on the small NCV tester is a nice addition and the controls are simple and easy to operate. And the ET45 tester with the probes has the same well designed probe storage as the meter. Nice. That will be handy. I had a tester similar to it years ago and lost it and have wanted another since from time to time and now I have it. In a lot of ways I like this meter better than my clamp on. I like the fact the case is a little more compact (see pic for comparison of the two cases) yet it still has ample room to store all 4 pieces of the kit. The RT210 circuit tester is a nice version of this tool. It has a slightly bulkier cross section at the plug than one I already had but is shorter and overall more compact plus my old one did not have the GFCI tester which is a handy feature.

For years I have used many of the Klein Tools…I worked for AT&T 32 years with 10 years of managing large cable construction crews. My technicians were provided with Klein tools…mostly hand tools and always requested them when needed. They loved them. Retired now and as a very avid DIY I do lots of projects for myself and friends and there is very frequently a need to work on or around electricity. I have a pretty old odd ball collection of electric test devices…. When I saw the Klein Tools Digital Multimeter Electrical Test Kit and just how reasonably priced it was, I thought it was a very good investment and would help keep me stay safe from electrical hazards I might encounter with my projects. The included MM320 Digital Multimeter, NCVT-3P Non-Contact Voltage Tester with Flashlight, ET45 Voltage Tester, RT210 GFCI Receptacle Tester all seem to be very sturdy and high quality. I have tried them all and all are very easy to use and I will keep them handy for future DIY projects where electricity is present. This test kit is a GREAT value for all that is included and I highly recommend it!

EASY TO USE; MULTI-FUNCTIONAL; USEFUL FEATURES — The Klein Tools Digital Multimeter Electrical Test Kit is an excellent kit for almost every household to have. The tools are easy to use and are an excellent way to minimize electrical risks. My interest in getting the kit was primarily for the digital multimeter to replace an analog multimeter. The Klein digital multimeter is a significant upgrade with its many features, clear instructions, ease of use, and the quality carrying case with a belt loop for easy carrying. It uses only two AAA batteries. It is a good size for holding and has a rubberized coating to help make it slip proof. The hold button is helpful for recording data, something that the analog meter did not have. Also, a digital readout seems to be more accurate. The voltage detector is also an upgrade from the one that I had previously. It not only tests for live circuits but it also has a flashlight. It is more able to detect current in wires to and from a lamp. The receptacle tester is extremely useful when installing any outlet but especially a GFCI. It easily provides useful information to ensure proper installation. The voltage tester is well-designed, easy to carry, and easy to use. It can check for either AC or DC voltages. Batteries for the multimeter and voltage detector are included. The kit is made in China.

A great budget price point electric outlet tester. It makes perfect sense that the light output results are printed on the tester itself, my previous unit was not like this, and I ended up losing the card which showed what lights meant what. This sticker is permanent, so it will never get lost or wear off. This can also be used to test out GFCI outlets and pigtail cords. We also use this tester as an easy way to test extension cords in compliance with OSHA assured grounding rules.

Awesome product. This is an absolute must have for anyone that does any sort of handy work! The tester has a nice pocket clip on the front. The testing probes actually attach to the backside of the tester. Each probe has a removable tip to expose more metal. (Easier to test outlets.). This is a very high quality product by one of the best known names in the electrical business. A+

This is a great little tool to have in your electric bag when working on houses or other sites where you wnat to check the power. I always throw the breaker and then following that I always check the plug or the connection with a meter and this one fits the bill. Its small and light weight easily fits in your pocket or tool belt. Makes it nice when you want to run a quick check to insure that the power is off. With the color it is easy to find in the bag or the belt. No batteries to worry about. Its a handy little tool that can go from the professional to the DIYer.

A rugged circuit tester suitable for CAT III as well as household use. The Klein Tools AC/DC Voltage Tester (Model # ET45) is a robust unit with some handy features. The indicator lights are bright and easy to see. The test leads snap into place on the back of the unit in two positions - one for storage (the test probes are protected) and one with the test probes held perfectly for testing outlets (including tamper proof). For CAT III usage the tool includes shields that cover most of the metal probes, leaving only the tips exposed. The shields must be removed to test outlets, which seems like a sure way to lose them! Given the clever way Klein “docks” the leads into the back of the body, it would be great if they also provided something similar for the shields to prevent loss. But if it’s mainly for home use, remove the shields permanently and store them in a “snack size” Ziploc baggy which happens to exactly fit the instruction manual :) A couple other things to be aware of - this is a simple voltage TESTER. It is not a METER - it can distinguish 24V vs 48V vs 120V vs 240V AC, but it doesn’t give an exact reading. It won’t test your flashlight batteries. And it’s not a multimeter, so don’t expect it to measure amps or ohms. If you need any of those features, Home Depot stocks several multimeters by Klein. But for a reasonably priced, basic, rugged voltage tester, this is hard to beat.

Been using this GFCI tester for a couple months now. It replaced a Gardner Bender that died after a decade in service. It is notably rounder and can be slippery to disengage from sticky outlets. However, it does the job its designed for satisfactorily. Saves lots of time troubleshooting outlets. Does fit in the smaller pocket on my tool pouch even with the ncvt and 4in1 control screwdriver.
