Installed it myself took a few hours as I didn't have the exact tools for the job but straightforward. The lock has made the door to the garage more secure and works fine. Quality seems very good and solid. It does what it says on the tin..

Upgraded without a setscrew
I received this just over a week ago. The original thumbturn had a setscrew that would loosen and fall out. This one piece thumbturn is the answer. Thank you kwikset.

I purchased this to replace an existing Kwikset product (brass) to match a new lock set. The style is not quite the same , but the stain finish matches. This deadbolt is not quite as smooth operating as the keyed deadbolt I purchased, but this may just be a consequence of the thumbturn mechanism vs a design flaw. Installation was simple.

Doesn't work on steel hollow doors ,had to fill void with foam insulation ,also instructions say can b used on 2&3/4 in. But latch doesn't adjust fr 2&3/8ths backset ,what was supposed to be an easy job turned to a nightmare, I wonder if the cheap Chinese version would have been better .

The lock works fine. It’s textured on the knob, which is annoying because the full doorknob / deadbolt sets aren’t. So even though this is on the same door as another Kwikset unit, the knobs look decidedly different. I wish I’d taken notice of that before I bought it.

Met its objective: keeping basement door secure from toddler. However, it would also provide some brief protection from a forced entry via the basement (which is also otherwise secured). The deadbolt itself appears reasonably well constructed and has an attractive finish, so no complaints.

I like the Smartkey feature.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have bought a good many Kwikset Smartkey combo packs for our house and rental properties. Having the Smartkey feature is a real plus for rental properties,we can give the new tenant a new key. I have only had one tenant that I know of that I think changed the key on me.
