Wow. All I can say about this is wow. The last time I wired any cat5 was about 10 years ago and I had to use my special crimper to attach the ends. Lining up the twisted pairs in the small plastic ends was not the easiest for my fumbling fingers either. Whole other story with this kit, just use the supplied wiring diagram to lay the twisted pairs in the connector body as described, then use the supplied tool to punch down each twisted pair . Attach the dust cover and that it! The oversized wall plate comes in handy too to hide my less than perfect job of cutting the hole in the drywall for the junction box. I highly recommend this kit to anyone looking to add or replace ant cat5 terminals. To make this even easier, only punch down or terminate one set of wires at a time so you aren’t dealing with more than two wires at a time. And yes, I realize the picture I took shows the wall plate upside down but I did install the twisted pairs in the correct places... :)

Super easy to install and a clean way to get Ethernet to each room in my home. The wall plate comes with the Ethernet jack, a punch-down tool, a pair of screws, and a clear-plastic dust cover that goes over the punch-down wiring after you have wired it all up. This was easier to install than I thought- our company’s IT guy makes it sound like a big deal, and says you need a special punch-down tool. The little plastic tool tha Leviton provided was more than adequate! A few notes to heed: 1) wire both ends of your cable run to the same color-convention standard. Usually it’s “A” or “B” - and Leviton has provided both color codes on the jack. I used ‘A’ at both ends of the cable haul. 2) The cable can sit in the middle of the trough and wire ends point out, or the wires can start from the outside and all point into the center - but do trim the wire ends to eliminate the possibility of shorting. 3) Keep the wire pairs together and install them according to the color convention, keeping pairs twisted until 1/2” before the punch-down. This helps keep the signal clean. My project was to replace a cable I had wired through the house with this jack so that I had a cleaner, professional look and so I can replace connector cables to the data plate as I moved my equipment to a new spot in the room.

Hard to find on a shelf somewhere

Properly wired, perfect voltage/connection across each pair, but would not allow a signal to pass once connected to hardware on each end. No connectivity, despite proper connections. I ended up putting a Ethernet plug end on each end of the cables instead of using this plate. My guess is there was some problem with the pcb inside the wall connector. I recommend buying a pre-terminated cable and plugging directly into your equipment and using a circle hole wall cover, one less connection to fail.

I needed to pass an ethernet cable through a wall between two rooms. After looking at Home Depot reviews I chose the white Leviton Data Jack Wall Plate. After cutting holes in the drywall and installing two low voltage electrical boxes I stripped the jacket of a Cat 5e cable and connected the wires per the T568B diagram included in the package. The punch tool easily pushed the wires into the channels. The dust plates fit well. The plates worked perfectly, 380 Mbps speed test to a computer.

It includes a punchdown tool, and wiring instructions for 2 types of common ethernet wiring (A and B).

I bought this for curbside pickup, and wasn't able to inspect the package before sanitizing it in the car. Once him I found the package was obviously previously torn open and everything except the wall plate was missing. Totally useless.

I bought this online for curbside pickup, so was not able to inspect the package before getting home. They gave me a previously opened bag, screws, dust cover, and punch-down tool were missing. Not worth the drive back to store!!!

The wall plate works well. Just have to check your installation to be sure your wiring is correct. The instructions are set up for data only.
