Leviton regrets your dissatisfaction. We manufacture wallplates from a variety of plastics. Rigid compression molded wallplates are very sturdy but may crack if the mounting screws are excessively tightened. We would like to send you a replacement. Does that it's supposed to do. I bought a matching wall plate for a single switch, and it broke under the slightest pressure. Do yourself a favor and buy one of the "unbreakable" PVC ones. They are like .10 more expensive, I found them when I was at HD returning the one that had broken.

It's just an outlet/switch cover. BUT it protects people from electric.
It's just an outlet/switch cover. It does what you will need it to do protect people and items from touching any electrical devices.
