I'm an electrician by trade and have installed multiple smart lighting control systems. The Lutron Caseta Smart system is the best for homeowners being able to set up, program and use the system. Lutron invested in creating a very user friendly app.

Great for bedside control!
I have two of these, each on a dual base with a light pico to accompany it. It is the perfect bedside companion to turn my fan on without having to yell at Alexa, and try to remember the EXACT name I gave my fan. Buttons are wonderful, and they don't talk back! The only drawback is the price of the Lutron components.

HOW DID I EVER GET ALONG WITHOUT IT❓
My answer to my question is, I don’t know. It is so convenient to be able to control a fan this way, otherwise, Alexa is always up to the task.

Easy to use & program but is the highest priced option
Simple to program and use but quite a pricey setup for a fan to have a remote. $65 for the switch which you have to have in order for the $30 remote to work. Nice that it works with Alexa and Lutron app with an additional smart bridge ($80) that you have to purchase as well. $175 for a fan switch and remote to work with app. Other similar options to use a variable speed switch with a remote are around $50 for the switch & remote - won't work with alexa or app. Depends on what you need and how much you are willing to spend.

Perfect way to add a switch to a more desirable location if you were to use it for remote purposes and not wall mount I would highly recommend getting the Lutron pedestal so you don’t lose it.

For me this remote is the answer to a...
For me this remote is the answer to a dual switched fan. It is wall-mounted where a second switch was located. Has the same functionality of the switch itself. I think ultimately it is a bit overpriced which is the reason only four stars. A big question will be how long the battery last.
