We purchased this tile for our laundry room, which connects to the backyard, so it’s a high traffic area. I love the natural look of the tile. It is easy to clean and looks amazing. We have had it for a year and recently purchased more to retile my husband's Man Cave. We had no problems with this tile, none were broken or damaged. Both rooms connect and it looks amazing, I wish this tile was available in more colors.

Looks so classy and time less

I did everything that MSI recommended which was to seal them and no chemicals. Twice a year they are flaking and crack or peel. Slate should last for decades these cannot stay 6 months. I wrote to MSI ask for a representative to come and see them for themselves. Sent them pictures, bad enough they are not the same thickness, but this cracking and flaking is not acceptable.

We used the MSI montauk black 4x12 slate in our kitchen. It was a ton of work to clean, inspect, cut, seal, lay, grout, and clean these, but we are very happy with the results. We couldn’t do wood floor in this room, and I was worried about it looking too cold, but the flooring is so pretty in person. It doesn’t look quite as “warm” in photos.

The tiles didn’t quite look like the picture…just looked like smeared white on it

The stones are flaky. I was trying to match existing slate tiles. They do but the first box they were all broken and I was able to return them. This second box was better but it still had 1 broken piece that I was able to use for a cut. Looks great but would rather buy in store if possible.

Always wanted to do a slate floor. So glad I did! Tile came without issues and within a few days of ordering. No chips or broken pieces. I did the black but looks more bluish black which is what I wanted. Did Mapei Timberwolf grout. Beautiful and classic!! Love it.

Just had this tile installed and love the quality and color. Wonderful quality and shipped without any tiles broken.

These look great in the shower in the bathroom I constructed, but let me tell you these tile are not 12 x 12 or anywhere near close take it very from a half inch stick to almost a quarter inch thick. They could be almost a half inch difference in size from one side to the other so if you’re looking for perfectly straight lines, this is not a towel for you, but neither is gauged Slate tile

This was my first tiling project, and I liked the real stone look this tile gave. It came out so beautifully. Would definitely recommend!

I had to redo a small section and I ordered these tiles because they look like a close match to what was already there. I ordered one box and it came with five tiles in it only one of which was usable. All five were the same pattern instead of assorted like the picture says and three out of five had hideous mill marks on the top and one came cracked to pieces. Also they are 2x as thick as normal tiles making them useless for my repair job and the thickness varies quite a bit. Very poor quality.

Looks nice and has nice texture, but they were delivered in cheap boxes that were pretty much disintegrating and a third of them were cracked or chipped. Tiles are all powdery and need to be washed. Biggest issue was that many of the tiles were off in one or both dimensions by 1/16 and some up to and 1/8. Made my straight pattern difficult, although it ultimately got done and the final result is pretty solid.

This tile is beautiful, it comes dusty and we cleaned it with water, check for scratches. it does scratch easily. Make sure to clean thoroughly with water then seal before grouting. A little hard to grout as this material is very porous. We cut on watersaw and didn't have any trouble. It has natural "ridges," raised places and I like that look. Will seal again after grouting. Turned out beautiful.

I recently remodeled a basement bathroom, and chose this tile as it was the 4x12 as I wanted to do a herringbone pattern. This is the first time I've ever done tile before, and overall I am super happy with the results! I borrowed a saw from a friend, which was essential, but the slate cut extremely easily. The tiles were fairly uniform, and took the adhesive very well. I sealed them with Miracle Sealants 511 which helped give them a nice dark black look. Highly recommended.

Outstanding product….gauged and squared up perfectly…grout clean up was extremely simple…zero chips or bad edges in 60 sq ft

Very good looking slate Different shades of black & grey with various textures 4x12 size was perfect for our project Make sure to check each tile for length and square. These are natural stone do they very in thickness and some tiles were shorter But more than you need as there will be unusable tiles We chose natural grey grout as Delorian was too light

I am very happy with this product. Price is deff right. I strongly recommend buying several boxes extra and hand picking the pieces since it is a natural stone. Looks great in a herringbone pattern.

I loved the look this tile provided! It didnt make our space too dark and it was a classy addition to our hallway bath.

Great quality. This slate has made leaps and bounds vs 15 years ago, very very flat for slate, wide assortment of colors, super super happy. and the price is beyond killer.

A beautiful, natural material. We chose it because of the thickness. It’s as thick as other natural stone so it looks great with marble.

Love the look of this tile. Quality is great for the price. Buy extra. I sealed it with water based impregnating sealer. 2 coats before install and 2 after install. Recommend using a grout color close to the color of the tile bc even though we sealed before install, the grout haze gets into every nook and cranny. We used Mapei charcoal and it is nothing like the sample stick. Much lighter. Use another brand or try black.

Great quality, nice real slate. Even though its black, has a dark grey look. The scratches on it that looked like chalk marks come right off. We had it professionally installed. Also sealed.

We had this tile installed in our bathroom, foyer and laundry room. We couldn’t be more pleased with how beautiful and classy they look. Each piece is unique looking and has different variations- which I really like. It does show water drips by the faucet if the hand washer allows their hands to drip before wiping. But that doesn’t bother me. We also priced large tile like this at a tile store and it was much pricier. We couldn’t be more pleased!

Be careful if you're doing a tight installation. Every once in a while, I'd come across a tile that was 1/16" - 1/8" too big or too small. 95% of the tiles were fine, but it only takes one to mess up your whole pattern. Also, order more than you need because you may not be able to get more of the same exact tile. I ordered a couple boxes in a separate order and they came in different packaging and were slightly different dimensions and not compatible with the first order.

Was nervous about the color but definitely pulls more gray than blue or black. 4x12 looks great in the herringbone pattern.

At first I thought they were rather plain looking, but my wife liked them sooo…. The installed nicely and now they look great. They really help the whole porch remodel come together.

Purchased for our new fireplace. Looks fantastic, love the ‘slate’ look and with black grout from a distance looks like one piece slab. Gives a very modern look to the new linear fireplace.
