Cut Asphalt
I needed to cut through an asphalt driveway for a pipe run. This blade easily sliced through the 25 feet of asphalt.

I needed a new blade to install a sink in a granite top. I got the 2-pack because it was a good deal. The blade cut through the 1 1/2” granite top like butter and is still sharp. Makita blades have provided consistently good quality over the years, you always know what you are paying for.

Makita 4.5 in. Segmented Rim Diamond Blade Country of origin - Thailand This light/medium duty blade is a step up from the round-blade for ceramic tile dry-cuts, but it has a wider kerf (see dry tile cut) This blade cut through a metal bed-frame without much effort (lots of sparks, though) This blade was less successful, however, with a slightly heavier angle bar.

This is a great segmented diamond blade that can be used for concrete, conder blocks, pavers or brick. On the blade it claims up to 4 times longer life and up to 40% faster cuts. In my limited use this blade definitely cuts fast and with minimal effort, the longevity has yet to be determined. I really like how smooth and easy the blade cuts through some ceramic tile practice material while running up to full RPM. I plan to use the blade on some brick edging for my walkway and believe the blade will do a great job. While the blade has a 7/8 inch arbor there is an included 5/8 inch adapter ring depending on the tool you are using. Overall, this is a nice general purpose blade to have in your tool box and can be used wet or dry.

I just purchased a Milwaukee battery operated grinder kit (2980-21) and need some diamond blades to grind out the cracked cement joints in between some of the basement blocks and the chimney. I also need to replace and install several block for and old coal bin/door. It can be used wet or dry. I’ll be using it dry with the Milwaukee saw but it’ll also fit my wet tile saw, so I can use it for the kitchen tile job that’s coming next month. When using it dry I make sure I always wear a dust mask. I also wear eye protection. You can also cut brick and pavers if you’re doing a patio. It’s fast cutting which is a time saver for me. It will fit both the 5/8” and 7/8” arbors.

I just got this blade and gave it a quick try using my brushless portable chop saw (4000 RPM, 5/8” arbor). I used it to cut 4” cement block, and (just out of curiosity) a piece of ceramic tile. In both cases, it cut through the material like a charm, without hesitation – no binding or slowing of the blade rotation. Nice clean cuts, little chipping or jagged edges (see pictures). In practice I would not suggest it for cutting ceramic floor tile because the segmented blade feature, which is designed to cool and clear the material from the path of the blade, seems less likely to result in the perfectly clean edges usually required for indoor flooring applications. However, for masonry work, the initial cuts from this blade were outstanding. I have not used it long enough to judge its long-term performance but based on my visual assessment, it seems like a solidly constructed and well fabricated product. After a short period of usage, there was no telling it had ever been used at all. As you should expect when cutting cement products, it will kick up a storm of dust, so using it outdoors or connecting a vacuum indoors is advisable (as are safety glasses and hand protection). It may seem a tad expensive but, if you desire a quality result, I suggest it’s a good value. I would recommend it to a friend.

I received the Makita 10 in. Segmented Rim Diamond Blade for General Purpose recently. I got a chance to try it out today. I decided to cut a red brick into pieces. The blade worked like a charm. I cut through the brick with such easy. I was really happy how nice it cut, a clean cut making short work of the job. If you every want to cut brick this blade is great. I'm sure it will go through concrete just as easy, great blade.

Great saw for me to cut some bricks around the house to repair our landscaping. I had a hose running on the brick to keep it cool and hopefully keep my blade sharper longer. The saw is a little thick but you'll realize where to cut(for me it was outside the line). Go slowly and it won't chip, depending on what you're cutting. So far so good! I have a lot of makita products and this is joining the family of power tools, blades, bits, etc.

This is probably the forth diamond saw blade I’ve had. However, this is the first with the segmented rim. A couple items I noticed. This blade is thinner (approximately 0.80” vs. 0.90”) at the cutting rim. I think this is an advantage, similar to the thin kerf table saw blades. The other difference is the height of the cutting rim. This blade has a ½” ring, vs. 0.25” on my older blade. I’m guessing this is to help give additional clearance to the blade when cutting with a hand held 4.5” grinder. However, I suspect there is another advantage. One of my projects I made bull nose edging on tile, where I needed the tile width wider than what is available in the store. I use one of these grinders to basically round over the edge, and finish off the edge with a belt sander. Turns out very nice. I suspect this ½” rim would have some advantage for this too. I also like the 4.5” diameter, vs. the 4” diameter of the other blade. There are times when the extra cutting depth has an advantage. It appears the diamond concentration on the blade is the same as the other units I’ve had.

Great diamond blade - I used it on a wet saw for cutting stone. Makes good clean cuts and lasts a good while. If you have done any work with stone, you know a good diamond blade is always needed. I've been mostly using it to cut capstones for my garden retaining walls. The Makita cuts fast. I've cut about 70 - 80 cuts of 8" long x 2" deep and only a little of the blade has diminished, maybe ⅛ - ¼ of an inch. (Sorry I didn't measure the diameter when I started).

This blade worked well. A competing blade had the bushing come out. This blade ran well in the saw and has cut plenty of pavers to date.

Did not function as expected cutting 2" thick concrete pavers with a Matika 5" masonry saw. Inner brass ring came loose in 5 minutes. Tightened again, 2nd ring came loose. Packaging shows both grinder and saw use for masonry. Blade that came with the saw made several hundred cuts without issue.

I used this blade to cut a 3/4" stone slab with my circular saw. I was very pleased. The label does not specifically say 'for stone', so I wasn't sure how it would do. It cut easily and made surprisingly smooth edges, since it says it is built for faster cuts. I would definitely recommend this blade
