I got this fryer new for a birthday present and the controller knob is broken out of the box. It is in pieces. I have opened a case with Masterbuilt on 3/20/2023 via their webpage, and will wait to see what happens. I can't register the fryer as I don't have a copy of the receipt because it was a gift. I even looked for the part on their website thinking I would just purchase it if it wasn't to much money, but I couldn't find it. In reading the bad reviews it seems like this is a fairly common thing. I will update this posting once I hear back from them. I WAS really excited to get this, but lets see what happens. I will update this once I resolve this case I have opened with them. Right now I would not recommend this product but may change my mind depending on the results I get.

The premise of this tool is awesome. However, the execution may not be realized. I am a loyal Masterbuilt customer, and own quite a few of their products (so I am told), the plan for this unit was to replace a couple of open propane fryers that I had laying around for various functions (Wings, Turkeys, Fries, Low country boils, etc.). The unit it's self is pretty simple, right until you get to the control knob mechanism. I was able to get 2 uses out of the unit, prior to it failing. I don't want to bash the unit completely, because I can see the potential and usefulness. I was able to contact Masterbuilt, and they're in the process of sending me a new controller. Once I get that installed and get a couple of uses out of it, I plan to update my review. In my opinion, the control panel/knob should have been better designed.

I have used it several times now and love it! It holds the temperature right where you set it. I can fry one cut up coated fryer in 7 - 9 minutes and immediately drop the next one in without having to mess with the temperature. This is very important when you are frying 6 - 8 fryers.

Work great, better than expected. Two thumbs up. Wish it came with crumb screen. Still a 10!

I just bought this item and when I set it up to use it i noticed caked oil in every nook and cranny

The worst experience I ever had. It took about 2 month to get my product and then all the screw on the product wasn't tight and couldn't be tighten because the thread was all strip. So I wouldn't really buy anything from you guys nomore

Easy to use and easy to clean. Easy to assemble and light.

I’ve used this product several times and I have no complaints. The first use was a little hard getting the pilot to start but since then it starts with no problem.

Bought fryer about a month ago,couldn't be more happy,gets up to temperature very quick,used to to fry peanuts

Used it once, the knob was a little wonky, them it stopped moving. Unable to ignite or turn knob. Tried to get part replacement from web site as I had thrown away box etc, NO PARTS AVAILABLE?? SO I have a big, new, expensive pile of crap. Waiting if parts will be listed after covid but can't use item at all. Contacted Masterbuilt, they never responded with available parts.

Followed the instructions and seasoned the unit as per recommended before using. Wanted to use it the following day and the fryer baskets were already rusting. And cut my finger and embedded a shard of metal in my finger twice from the poor quality lid. Thankfully the business I purchased it from graciously refunded me.

Read the instructions first per instructions, did the soak test, after the soak test made multiple attempts to start the fryer with no luck an very glad I don’t attemp to start fryer using the match method. Instead I decided to flip over the fryer and inspect the burner assembly. What I find was the screws that attaches the control knob on the front of the fryer to the burner assembly under the fryer had some screws loose that would of brought these two parts together but didn’t as you can see in the magnified part of the photo. The black tube in the magnified part of the photo is the propane supply line from the propane tank. Which I could of upload more puctures but one was all it allowed. Long story short don’t feel safe using this fryer and returning it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Masterbuilt propane fryer with thermostat control is simply amazing.It takes approximately ten minutes to get it set up straight from the box. It is very sturdy, and the fryer is stable. I set mine up on a cement patio. Lighting the unit is easy. I used a long lighter meant for lighting candles, but if you don't have one, there is an attachment with a chain on one of the sides near the handle that allows one to slip a match into it and light it that way. The handle on the other side is set up to hold the lid when checking on the food as it cooks. The temperature dial and the enclosed thermometer are helpful in determining how hot the oil, and/or water is. I got the oil up to 350 degrees for frying onion rings, chicken, and french fries. I used the two small baskets for these items, although there is also a larger basket included. The fryer heats up quickly, and our food was ready in record time. This is so much nicer than frying indoors. My kitchen remained grease, and odor free! This is a very high-quality fryer, and will last for years if cared for properly. There is an enclosed spout on the side that is used for draining the unit of oil after it has cooled off. After I drained it, I used sudsy hot water to wash out the inside, and again used the spout to empty it. I dried the inside, placed the enclosed lid on it, and covered it with a special cover I separately bought for this purpose. I intend to take very good care of mine. My entire family was pleased with the resulting meal. I highly recommend this propane fryer to everyone who loves to eat good food, and has the space to use it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am an avid outdoor cooker. I love being able to cook outside to keep my kitchen clean, and my house from smelling like food. The Masterbuilt Propane Fryer with Thermostat control is an amazing addition to my outdoor cooking arsenal. I love that I can deep fry in it, it takes 2-4 gallons of oil and comes with 3 baskets, one large (for a turkey), and two smaller baskets for smaller items. It starts up like my grill with a push button igniter, and the temperature can be controlled with the knob from 200-400 degrees Fahrenheit. It heats up fast and I love that it is contained in one sturdy unit. This unit is large, but I love the height. I also love that it can be used for more than one purpose. The oil can be drained easily out of the side, and it can be filled with water for a crab boil! I haven't done that yet, but I can't wait to be able to have a gathering and host a crab boil outdoors. My guests will love it! This is an impressive and versatile piece of equipment, that I know will bring a ton of enjoyment and cooking pleasure to my life. I trust the Masterbuilt name, and know that it means quality. Thank you for an amazing addition to my outdoor kitchen!

I bought this fryer a month ago and it's not working at arrival. I contact the customer serice and they ask me all the dumb question of the manual and it takes 2 or 3 days for each question. After 2 weeks they finally tell me I will receive the replacement part but it will take t to 10 working days before the parts ships. They tell me I will receive an email saying part is ship. Guess what, after fifteen days I don't receive any email or parts. Worst experience ever.

Great fryer! The two baskets allow our baseball club to prepare fried food quicker for our customers.

Bought the fryer because it had great features. It arrived on time. It worked great when I boiled water to clean but the valve stem was a bit loose but it worked. The next time I tried to use it would not light the pilot. Contacted customer service and they sent a valve replacement. It took about a 1 1/2 months to arrive but that was OK. It was cold outside so I would not use it. The replacement came with no instructions. I installed but it took a bit of imagination on the best way to get out the old one and replace with the new one.. It once again it worked for the initial lighting but the pilot light would not shutoff. I fiddled with it for a couple days and things looked like it would work well. Just when I was ready to start a boil the valve stem came loose. I gave up and put in the trash.

Don’t buy this brand! The gas flow valve leaking gas causing the housing unit to be on fire when lighting the burner. The ignition switch stopped working when I turned off because of fire. 400 dollars down the drain. What is the Home Depot warranty? The unit sat for almost 5 months before I open it and tried to use.

Overall this is a souped up propane version of the Masterbuilt Turkey Fryer. The positive is it can fry up a lot of food just as good as the Bayou Classic or RV Works 4 gallon. The negative is the flat bottom design builds up residue from the food and eventually burns and deteriorates the oil after a long cook. If Masterbuilt where to develop a self cleaning system like the other two competitors this would definitely be the #1 fryer to buy. Also very difficult to drain and clean due to the valve being so small.

Haven't use it yet just went went through the sterilized process next will be a fry or boil saga. I can definitely see its potential though also I seen comments where folks are not able to use the ignition switch, but it has to screwed off counter clockwise and insert a double AA batter and reinstall. Minor assembly require handles, cover handle. The thermostat is the least of any issues I heard ppl complaining about if u are any use around a kitchen u should be able to tell the appropriate temperature I sight. BTW the thermostat is in good working condition be is not a necessity. I love the multi function options available to fry , steam or boil. Will edit comment if deemed to otherwise this my final if all goes well
