Ordered 10. Installed 4. All of them got shadow stripes after 10 minutes of being on. Talked with manufacturer. They hadn’t seen or heard about it happening. Didn’t chance installing other 6. Returned them all.

        Color temperture is wrong.
The website has the color temperture posted incorrectly. It is 3600,4800,6400. Not what is posted under the spec page on Home Depot.com

          Perfect upgrade from old fluorescents
These panels look great in our laundry room. I purchased 2 of them to replace old fluorescent troffers in the drop ceiling in our laundry room. I chose these based on the quantity of positive reviews, and I am totally delighted with them. It's true that it was harder to remove the old fixtures than it was to install these. They are very lightweight and low-profile so they fit easily into the ceiling. They fit perfectly into our 2' x 2' drop ceiling grid. 3 wire nut connections and you're in business. The color and quality of the light is very pleasant and they really brighten up the room without a lot of shadows. I'm posting pictures but I wish I had 'before' pictures. One unit was totally burned out and the other had the rolling and blinking from older fluorescent tubes. I can't believe we lived with that dimness for as long as we did I wish I did this upgrade years ago!

During a remodeling and up dating project I replaced the 2 bulb florescent light fixtures I had installed in our basement drop ceiling about 32 years ago with 6 of these units. Install was easy enough since I pretty much had the wiring there. Because of the tight clearances I found it easiest for me to connect the wiring to the fixture first before lifting the panel into place then route the wiring to the junction box. We chose the 4k light because my wife uses the basement area for her sewing and quilting and needs good lighting. It provides a bright white light, but without any of the blue you find when you go higher. Time will tell how they hold up, but they come with a 5 year guarantee anyway.

              Excellent LED Fixture
I got tired of replacing fluorescent light fixtures and tubes. I have three types of tubes just in my basement. Saw this LED fixture and decided to try it in my suspended ceiling. My ceiling grid is very close to the floor joists above but fixture is thin enough so it fits well. VERY HAPPY with this product. So much so I went and bought another one today.

This Metalux LED light fixture blew me away with how much light it produced. We upgraded our 4-bulb fluorescent light fixture to this LED fixture and it made such a huge difference in our play room. I attached a photo of our old fixture for reference. Installation was easy and I especially like the support clips they provide which attach to the ceiling grid. I will definitely be buying another one to replace my other existing light. Well done Metalux, well done!

This is a great light fixture and is easily placed in a suspended ceiling grid. I had limited space above the grid but this fixture slid in perfectly. The light color is perfect, not too yellow or too blue. I used several of these in my basement remodel project and am very happy with the results. Highly recommend!

This light is a perfect modern upgrade for drop-in suspended ceiling lighting. It's as thin as can be, light weight and versatile. Without a special dimmer, you can permanently set the brightness of the light. WITH a special dimmer, you can adjust the brightness as desired. You can also pick the color temperature that suits you the best. The best part of this light compared to the old style fluorescent tube or even LED tubes is that lighting is completely uniform across the panel. It's not too bright in any particular area. I feel it provides a more natural kind of light and the panel lights of the past. What I also like about this panel is that you don't have to use it in a drop ceiling if you get creative. I plan to hang it from my track lighting once I build a frame for it as the frame of the light is not stiff enough to support the 4' span.

With LEDs it is often a challenge to know what light tone and brightness will be right for a room. With this, the tone and brightness are adjustable through switches on the control box (see photos). Other than the control box which is about 2-in. thick, the light panel itself is only about a half-inch thick which can be a real benefit in a low ceiling room such as a basement. Clean look and is easy in a suspended ceiling but has several sets of tabs available for alternate mounting methods (see pic). Hard wiring is required. I didn't use a dimmer but this unit is dimmable. Be careful when selecting a dimmer as compatibility can be challenging with LEDs though with the adjustability of this light, you may not care about a dimmer.

This review is for the Metalux 2 ft. x 4 ft. White Integrated LED Dimmable Flat Panel Light with Selectable Color Temperature. This is a nice looking light fixture, it is meant for troffer mounting in a drop ceiling, but can be hung from chains. It can not be flush mount due to the way the ballast is mounted to the back. The ballast has selectable switches for the light color and brightness. it comes with 3 wire nuts and instructions with pictures. their is even a plastic ' earth quake ' cover for the switches as apparently a earth quake can move them on this product. the ballast is not mounted vary securely to the light fixture. It will work with a 0 -10 volt dimmer, and emergency power back up. The real issue with this fixture is the knockouts to run the wires out of are not real knock outs. A knock out is a general term used to reference any pre-scored removable section that is intended to be cutout during installation. Most frequently, the term will be applied to electrical wiring harnesses and cutouts. When the manufacturer designs a wiring harness, they tend to try to make them as versatile as possible since the intention is that it can be used in a wide variety of projects. To accomplish this, the casing will have several cutouts that have been scored into the sides of the wiring box. These are typically standard sizes that will match up with other pieces like conduits or flex hose. The advantage is that there are several different options to choose from at the time of installation. The problem is the knockouts in the product are just scoring marks in the metal not real knock outs so you would need a drill with a hole saw in order to use them with out damaging the ballast. Real knockouts can be knocked out with a screw driver and a hammer, you do not need a drill or hole saw. If they had put real knock outs in it or had better quality control in the manufacturing plant this would of been a 5 star product and installation would be a 5 instead of a 1, as knockouts are not supposed to be a mini project.

I ordered this to replace a nasty old fluorescent fixture in a bathroom. It's a sheetrocked ceiling, not suspended, so this is going to take a little creativity. This light arrived well packaged, no damage or missing parts. The instruction sheet is well written and nicely illustrated. There are two switches on the side of the electrical box to select 3 color settings 3000, 3500 and 4000K and 3 lumen settings 3100, 4500, and 6200. The unit is designed to easily drop into a 2 ft. by 4 ft. suspended ceiling grid, something I didn't have. Down to the basement workshop I assembled a simple wooden frame for the light to slide into. I set both switches to max color and brightness and installed the frame. The very thin design and light weight made for an easy install. I love it, the light is "bright white" perfect for a bathroom. Cooper Lighting offers a 5 year warranty and as with most products Home Depot sells there is a 90 day return policy.

I really think this metalux fixture is one of the best LED fixtures on the market. It looks great AND it performs as advertised. The 'brightness' and 'color' switches make this fixture a unique application. I was able to select between three level of brightness and three levels of color (from a warm, yellowish hue to a bright, white hue. Excellent feature when installing multiple fixtures where you want ambient and/or task lighting. NOTE: the switches are mounted on the electrical box on the top side of the unit. BUT if you are using it in a drop ceiling application you can still access the switches via one of the drop ceiling panels. Physically the unit is ultra thin (see picture comparing with a toothbrush). The electrical connection is very easy and comes with wires for a 'dimmable' application. AND it can be used with a battery back up system (need a kit for this). The light unit is very attractive. The entire surface lights vs. some led units where you can see strips of lighting. I tried to photograph this feature but my camera only recorded 'wavey' lines (see photo). None-the-less, when the unit is energized the entire panel glows giving off a very nice light. The fixture also has built-in clips which you can manipulate to secure to your T-type track (drop ceiling grid). If you live in earth quake prone areas the manufacturer sells kits to assure even greater security (and peace of mind?). By the way, the installation instructions (if needed) are very very clear; easily followed.

Very nice, easy to install, with great lighting. This unit is also a great value. I have been converting my basement light to LED's. Some of fixtures I converted to electronic ballast and installed LED tubes. This is more time consuming and not really as cost effective. Installation on these Metalux units are very easy to accomplish. I also like the color temperature selection switch. I prefer the 4000K color rendering. The dimming capability I'll probably not use.

Very simple installation. Pretty, plain and simple. Light had hooks already built in so all I had to do was install hooks in the ceiling, rated to hold the weight of the light. After hooks were installed. Install some rope or chain depending on the look of your desire cut to the same length.Hang light. Wire light to fixture again very basic black to black wire and white to white wire and don't forget to ground light to fixture. Once light is wired light has six different settings depending on light needed. 4k high beam is a lot of light and it's also a daylight so it's a very good light source. 3k low beam is very low and relaxing for the eyes. This light can almost fit any light source needed for projects, drawing, and/or reading. Very well designed and quality materials. AWESOME.

These are great! This isn't the first Metalux flat panel that I've installed. I honestly received a free one over a year ago in this promotion to test and review, but I liked it so much that I bought a couple more to replace some of the other fluorescent panels that used to buzz and flicker in my basement. Well, this is not much different than those as it is super easy to install, it is lightweight and drops into the existing spot that the old fluorescent light occupied. The light output is bright and even in the room. It has it's own built in junction box, so all you have to do is run the wire to it and connect, which already existed for me. The difference between this panel and the previous Metalux panels that I purchased is the ability to change the color of the light. In my case, it wasn't a necessity, but still a nice feature if you prefer a more natural incandescent light. I highly recommend these...no flicker, no noise and no worrying about broken glass. I plan on replacing all my fluorescent fixtures with these (basement and garage) as needed...I only have a few more to go.

I installed this light over my kitchen island to brighten up the area in my double wide mobile home. I used chain, with “S” style hooks and “J” hooks to mount from my ceiling, and attached to the tabs on the backside of the light fixture. Hooking up the electric was just as easy, with the removable panel, and common three wire hook up, it was installed in no time. It’s six option light setting shades is a great option also to fit any choice of light in any room. Great product.

Like a few others, I did NOT use this in a drop ceiling application. Instead I took the 4 "hanger" bracket on the two sides, removed the small screws and flipped them around to face outward. This gave me a metal bracket to attach to my wooden ceiling joists (used 3/8" MX electrical cable clamps which allows the fixture to float a bit as it's not firmly pressed against the ceiling joints). The corner brackets shown in the product photos were not installed on the 4 panels I purchased (manufactured early 2019). See photo. Looking at the LED driver you can see the Purple and Grey dimming wires are OUTPUTS. I measured about 9.5 VDC across the two wires. Short them together and the panel is fully dimmed (no light output). I put a 2k ohm resistor across the two wires and light output was around 1/3 of full bright. You could easily dim them to a custom level with a simple resistor if the panel was too bright. Nice product. Wish it was easier to mount in a non-drop ceiling, but I'd do it again in the next home.

Great performance, affordably priced and easily installed. We installed this in our basement workshop to provide high intensity lighting over a scroll saw. We had limited space left in our grid ceiling so we opted for the 2x2 unit. This unit provided both 4200 Lumens and relatively high Kelvins in a 2x2 package which was perfect for our use case. It's very thin, which is good as we have limited headroom above our grid. Wiring was very simple, but we wish it would have had the push in terminals which many units now have, as opposed to the wire nuts. The power supply appears to be a "switched" power supply (as opposed to linear), as it can operate with either 120 or 240VAC. This is a dimmable unit, but requires the expensive 0-10V dimmers and separate low voltage wiring. We use those in other areas of our utility room, but we have two other non-dimmable LED troffers and 2 older CFLs on this particular circuit as well, all controlled by the same switch, so the 0-10V dimmer was not feasible here. Mounting was also easy. We put ours in a grid so opted for the drop in with easily worked safety tabs to prevent any likelihood of falling out. The unit does have corner tabs for a suspended mount as well. The light is well diffused. This is an integrated LED unit, so no bulbs to replace, but if the LEDs do fail, the whole unit gets replaced. Little likelihood of that for many years, though. We're very happy with the light and highly recommend it.

Just installed 2 new LED flat panels. Very happy with new LED flat panels, we now have only 2 new panels that replaced 4 double fluorescent fixtures. We are getting brighter light and using less power. These panels were a bit heavier than I anticipated- so had to add a bit of reinforcement to the drop ceiling, but otherwise they installed quickly and easily.

Replacing old fluorescent lights in our offices, and so far have replaced 18 with no problems. These lights exceeded our expectations, they are very bright so you may not need as many. Also put some on 0-10v dimmers and they work great. You will not find a better price anywhere, I can't believe Home Depot sells them for this price. Don't delay and get them before they figure out their price is to low.
