After over 2 months of trying over 15 types of floors I finally decided on Millstead Hickory floors and I was not disappointed. I was a little skeptical after reading reviews about scratching easily and clicking when walked on. So as far as scratching goes, any flooring will scratch if you do not put felt pads on your furniture that you constantly slide across the floors. I have felt pads under most of my chairs and furniture and have not seen one scratch. That will solve that problem if you have concerns. When the floor was first installed I did notice clicking when I was walking on it, but as I started walking on it more the clicking went away. I think the joints just need to settle in to place. Now, I do not notice hardly any clicking at all. As far as installation, I did not actually install it myself, my dad did and he said he would give it a 4 out of 5. I was very limited on options because my house is on a slab and we had to get a click and lock and this worked very well. We did not have to use any glue. It was pretty easy to install, but you do have to tap the boards into place with a rubber mallet and make sure they are actually locking in. He did the perfect job and there are not gaps or any defects in the wood. We also did not have many pieces that were unusable. In fact, we had almost 3 boxes left over. If I could do it all over again, I would get this floor again. The look of the wood is gorgeous and each piece is so unique and has it's own pattern and story. The variation of the wood also has more character differences than colors from light to dark which I like. Home Depot customer service was really good because I was able to order several boxes of flooring from different brands that I was interested in and they let me return them for a full refund without a penalty. This flooring was delivered within 4 days of ordering it and this was during the Covid pandemic going on. I am so happy with these floors. 5 stars in my book!

very happy with the results
I am so far very happy with this flooring, but it hasn't had to stand up to a lot of wear yet (recent install). Installed by non-professionals in our own home.
Installation required a mallet to get the pieces to click, but once on a roll it was very easy.
Very few pieces were unusable, and most "ugly" pieces could be cut as starters or enders.
A fair amount of variation between the 35 cases we purchased, so we were pretty careful to mix them. Still, one room has more lighter pieces on average.
We were very careful to level the floor before installation with self leveling compound and new plywood if necessary. This is crucial!
A few pieces do make a clicking sound. So far it seems like some wood glue under pressure left overnight fixes that.
Quality 4/5 only because ideally the top layer would be thicker.

Good product, enjoying the flooring
easy to install however you need to tap boards into groove a bit because it is real wood at click edges, I am pleased with this product, only problem I had was pieces ranged in color from blonde brown to medium brown ... so you need to pull all your pieces out to balance out your colors. has a high hardness rating too

Extremely pleased
The floor has only been down for a week or so, so it is hard to give 5 stars for quality and value, but if it holds up as it has, they would be 5 stars too.
Installation was a breeze and this was my first floor, I am a novice DYI. I did find a kit at the other big box store that had a rubber block for knocking the boards into place, as well as spacers, and a bar with a lip for tight installations-couldnt have done the installation without these items.
Looks incredible, LOVE the variations in colors, I pulled from multiple boxes as others have said. Purchased a table saw (Dewalt), already had a chop saw and jig saw. -These items are essential. Got a dewalt multi-tool for Christmas, that was a huge help with door frames and such.
My kitchen floor was not level though, we are on a concrete slab, had to put two 50lb bags of level quik to get the floor a bit more level, probably could have used two more bags, but I was afraid of raising the floor too much for the D/W and Fridge-wanted to ensure they were able to come out of their respective cabinets.
Highly recommened this MADE in USA product! Tried, Lowes, and Lumber Liq, so glad I went with HD!

Very happy with this flooring choice so far
Bought this for our 12x12 dining room. Followed the extra 10% rule and ordered 8 cases. Had it shipped to store as home delivery was "Curbside" and didn't want to risk it being out in the weather. Pick-up was easy.
This was my first wood floor install and it was relatively easy. Not sure why others gave it low ratings for locking together too hard. I used a dead blow hammer and tapped the edge of the floor up and down the length while putting some pressure on top side. Had no issues with this method and would rather have a firm fit than a loose one. Went together in a matter of hours.
Very few boards than were not usable due to splits, knots or handling damage. Used a small sharp chisel to fix a locking groove dent here or there.
Ended up with slightly more than one box worth left over. Returned it to the store for a refund with no issue.
Looks great, have had a lot of remarks as to how good it looks. Floor was as level as I could get it but not perfect and this being click-lock flooring it is creaky at times in one particular area. Not a fault of the wood floor though. It's been about 3 months so far and no durability issues. Put pads under all of the furniture that can move. Hardness seems good, have not dented or scratched it yet.

Good Product Good Value
I purchased the Hickory Dusk engineered hardwood for just 133 square feet of area. I really like how the flooring looks. It has a richness to it, and I've had a lot of positive comments. I would buy this product again. Now for the ease of installation, I found that many of the boards were warped but would eventually fit. However, what I discovered is that a tapping block would be helpful, but traditional blocks would not work. I created my own with a small piece of the flooring, I used one of the damaged planks and cut off a piece about 8 in in length and then cut off the receiving end (female end). Then with a couple of taps the flooring planks fit together perfectly. I used a small power miter saw, a jig saw, a laser level, tape measure, and hammer. There were about 8 damaged planks in 7 boxes. It turned out great! Now if I can install the floor, I think that most people can, I am a 63 year old, over weight female.

The floor looks awesome!
Having spent hours seeking a hickory engineered floating floor, we originally chose Kahrs, but by coincidence read an on line review of Millstead Hickory and looked for corroborating reviews and ratings from others. The overall value of this flooring won out handily. Installation went smooth, with plenty of random lengths (need to open several boxes) and grain mixes. Very few pieces with hairline split ends or blemishes (used in closets, etc. anyway). We're very satisfied with this product!

Looks amazing and is super quality for a low price
I bought the wood and had it installed within 9 days from ordering. Myself and a friend who does floors put 420 square feet in a living room and hallway in 1 day including quarter-round and with the cuts. It came out amazing and looks very fancy, giving the room a huge boost in value as well as style from the old carpet that used to be there.
The finish is durable and has not scratched or dinged yet. With felt pads on all the furniture, it slides very easily and shines beautifully after running a damp mop over the floor.
I am amazed at how cheap it was compared to full-service installers. I bought the 480 square feet for $1,700 and the underlayment material for and quarter round for $450. Other professional full-service organizations quoted $5,000

A little difficult to install but looks great
This flooring has great color and having varying lengths helped with less waste. I ordered six boxes and some pieces in all the boxes were bowed which made it much harder to click together. The paper work said it was ok to use pieces as they were not manufacturing errors. Once you get several rows done and place weights on floor, the floor will look great. I ordered 10 percent extra but should have ordered 20. Waiting on another box as I was three boards short.

Good product, reasonably priced
This is the second floating wood floor I've installed. This product was a little bit harder to install than the previous one (thomasville), more pressure and care required to get the boards to click together. The finished installation looks great; seams are tight and the overall finish is very nice. Floor is very flat and relatively quiet when walked on. Very little warping on the boards and any warp disappeared when clicked in place. Highly recommend spending extra for the AirGuard 3-in-1 underlayment; makes the installation much quieter.

We were able to match the existing Millstead Hickory Honey that was installed in 2014. Slight difference in the sheen in of the new flooring but you can’t expect it to be identical given five years of use on the older flooring. Overall we are very satisfied.

Love the color and “the look”. My entire home is this flooring except one bedroom. I don’t like it in the kitchen or high traffic areas as it shows every water spot and scratch.Very high maintenance in those areas. Would look for a more durable product next time.

I used this for cabinets in a van I'm converting (it is fine for this), and not for flooring (maybe not so good). It is well engineered to lock together, but the surface is not completely smooth. The edges of the grain are consistently raised very slightly. Solid hickory does not do this.

Disappointing product. Don't repeat our mistake.
I DO NOT recommend this flooring and strongly encourage anyone ready to invest in new flooring look elsewhere. We had this flooring installed last summer and, unfortunately, we haven't been satisfied. Although the flooring looks really nice, the durability has left a lot to be desired. Within the first couple of weeks we noticed large, visible scrapes/scratches. (Not scratches you'd expect under normal use.) The floors have accumulated other similar gashes despite normal-to-low traffic. Also, the corners of some of the boards have chipped off. Although the chips are small, I wouldn't expect this to happen to a quality product--especially within a year of installation.
