Totally worth the price.
Tons of power and pretty good runtime on a 12 amp hour battery. What I like most is after using one 12 amp hour battery it's about time to refill your bar oil so it's easy to remember (one battery means one refill). I love the fact that the kickback break also disengages the trigger from operating so you can't damage the tool. I don't even have to use ear muffs anymore which I always thought was a little bit of a hazard because you couldn't hear anybody yelling to you over the sound of the chainsaw and with earmuffs. I go for this Milwaukee 16 inch over my Husqvarna 20inch on any tree trunks or branches under 16 inch's. Milwaukee will cut branches bigger than that but I don't have to double cut with my 20 inch bar. ( Saves me time)

Very happy with the saw
I was pretty surprised at how well this cut. I have a 20inch Echo gas powered saw, and an old Craftsman 19.2 volt 10 inch saw. The Milwaukee cuts six inch logs as fast as the Echo. It has a thinner bar and chain, so that helps the speed as it has less material to move. But I have not noticed it being less sturdy. The whole day is very balanced, and quiet. I love that it starts right up by pulling the trigger, as opposed to pull starting. You can set it down and work on something else and when you need it, just pull the trigger. The Craftsman was only good for think branches, but this can cut 12 inch logs with some patience. I had a bunch of trees come down in a storm and this was great.

Wonderful tool
I christened this saw by cutting up three hemlock pines, and it did so with ease. Tons or torque, which ripped through it all. Batteries lasted far longer than expected, and was able to limb all three with the included 12Ah batt, with clean up using an 8Ah. An additional two sessions with the 12Ah got me through logging the trees. I was able to cut 14” rounds with attention, anything under that was easy work. Greater than 14” gets tricky and I would recommend using something bigger. I love not having to worry about spark plugs, 2 stroke mix , etc. Just fill it up with bar oil and go. If I had one critique to make, it would be that the bar oil leaks heavily while not in use which means you must store it dry; which in turn means if you intend to keep it in your truck for fallen trees, be ready to store a bottle of oil with it because it will leak everywhere. I’ve not looked into any mods or potential solutions to this problem, only read others with the same issue. Overall though I definitely recommend this and would love to see a larger option offered in the future.

Leaks oil like Swiss cheese, chain comes off.
Worked fine in the beginning. I could cut some nice pieces of wood down, used it on the crate myrtles, even trimmed a few branches here and there. Then I realized I ran out of bar oil, no problem I’ll fill it back up. An hour later I noticed I had oil on my clothes and hands because this saw just drips bar oil from the bottom. I had many issues as well readjusting the chain as it would easily come off. I love Milwaukee and the idea of a battery chainsaw but I would not recommend this product.

    Good paperweight bad chainsaw
Broken in 2 weeks. Internal pin snapped made of plastic. Chain saws and concrete saws need metal parts not plastic. Love the rest but this thing is a waste of money

As long as you get a big enough battery this thing doesn’t bog down. I cut 32 inch trunk no problem.

    Chain trouble.
This started out real good like one of those tools you should have bought years ago. After using for the second and third time the chain kept falling off which was really annoying. I was using the saw to de-limb trees that I had already fell so it was not getting hard use. The second time the chain came off it broke the guard that covers the chain drive. Expected much more from this tool for the cost.

    M18 fuel 16” chainsaw
The cutting power and torque is impressive. Cut a cord of mixed firewood (birch, spruce) 4” to 16” diameter on 2 fully charged 12amp hour batteries.

    Excellent chainsaw
I bought the kit and it works amazing. Everything was as advertised. The saw made quick work of what needed to be cut up with very little effort. I haven't experienced any kickback with the way the chain is made as it is a low kickback kind. Light weight even my kid could handle and use it with no problems. It would be nice to have this come with two batteries as within 4 hrs it was dead.

    no gas to spill
i used this saw on old hardwood performed good 12 amp battery was great to have on the tough stuff. it would be good if the chain turned faster as long as it doesn't comprise battery life. in most situations it is not an issue. its nice to use a quiet and light saw. i can even use it indoors, no smoke or warm up

m18 fuel 16in milwaukee battery powered chainsaw
Purchased this chainsaw for clean up around my property and it does the job well!!! I had a pretty big tree that was already cut down by a bigger gas chainsaw and the milwaukee chainsaw cut right through it(close to 18in in diameter) does good for normal size logs too.

Cuts through oak as well as my gas powered saw
As an arborist I have a variety of chainsaws for various purposes. I thought this would fit in for a small ground saw for general landscape use or limbing logs on the ground. I was surprised at the power and speed cutting through oak, I didn't have the expected slow down after starting the cut. I set the saw and just went to work like normal. I expect this would be perfect for a landscaper or homeowner needing occasional use. The recommended battery is a high amp hour high capacity battery and the saw performs much better with one of those. Just for fun I tried a regular 5 amp hour battery and I was able to cut but I could feel the difference.

    Very impressed with results
I was really interested in this chainsaw and had been researching it for quite a while. After finally purchasing it I am happy to say it did not disappoint. On a full charge on the 12 ah battery I was able to make about 45 cuts through seasoned fir log chunks ranging from 8 to 14 inches. This created 72 firewood rounds. There is a bit of chatter starting a cut on smaller branches but I think it is a result of the torque and chain speed. With a few charged batteries I don't think I would hesitate to toss this in the truck and run up in the woods.

    Excellent investment
I already have Milwaukee batteries and chargers for other tools, so this fits right in with my collection. It comes fully assembled and includes a bar guard. It is heavier than I expected but also has more power than I anticipated. I find that I can carry it on my ATV or motorcycle for use in cutting brush and smaller trees out of trails. It won't replace my big gas powered saw for cutting firewood, but it sure is handy and portable.

    M18 Fuel Chainsaw
I finally got out to use the chainsaw yesterday, I live in west central Minnesota, it was 13 degrees out. I was cutting 6-10 inch branches and never had a problem, my gas one wouldn’t start. Glad I had the Milwaukee. I use the xc8.0 battery. Needed more wood for the fireplace. Thanks Milwaukee

No Gas, 2-cycle oil, recoil cord, exhaust smoke, or frustration – just PERFORMANCE!
I never thought I would choose an electric chainsaw over my go-to 2-cycle chainsaw but I have. This Milwaukee Fuel, 14 inches, 18 volt saw is incredibly powerful and so easy to operate and maintain. Gone are the old days of mixing oil with the gas, pulling the starter cord (at least a few times if you’re lucky) or the strong exhaust smell – instead enter the future with just the chainsaw, a battery or two, chain lubricant, and an attitude to dominate over anything that gets in your way. I tested my saw on some scrap building lumber lying around the yard and was impressed with its power. But it wasn’t until I took the saw to a friend’s country house that I witnessed the saw in real action with tree felling, limbing and bucking. We took on some fair sized cedar trees with no problems (my friend, who has been around chainsaws for most of his life, is now wanting to get this saw model for his own use). The unit is made with high-quality materials albeit mostly made of very heavy-duty plastic, an automatic chain oiler holds enough oil for hours of operation without refilling, the battery compartment will accept even Milwaukee’s large 18 volt/12Ah battery (I used a 6Ah battery), it’s equipped with a chain safety brake, onboard storage of an adjustment tool and a guide bar cover. As should be obvious by this review, I am very happy with this chain saw and highly recommend.

STARTS EASILY; CUTS FAST; WONDERFUL; AMAZING
The Milwaukee M18 FUEL 14 in. 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless Chainsaw (Tool-Only) is an incredible upgrade from my 14" gas-powered chainsaw that I struggled with for years to start and restart. Hence it was a pleasure to use this Milwaukee saw and have it start by just pulling the trigger. I used it to cut down two large dogwoods that were getting old and starting to die. Dogwood is a hard wood but this saw had no trouble cutting through it quickly. The chain was very sharp. Although with an XC4.0 Ah battery it weighs three pounds more than my gas-powered saw, it did not seem heavier and even seemed easier to use - perhaps because of better balance. It took an hour of using the saw before the charge on the XC 4.0 battery was exhausted. The scrench is stored on the saw so you don’t have to worry about misplacing it. However, it is lodged in its holder so tightly that you will need a screwdriver or another tool to dislodge but that is OK since you only have to do that once per use of the saw. I really like that the bar oil chamber has a translucent window into it so that you can easily tell how much bar oil remains. It has a great oiler based upon how much oil the chainsaw used compared to my gas-powered saw. The battery compartment is huge to accommodate even the largest size Milwaukee battery. See photo. This saw may be a better alternative than a gas-powered chainsaw for emergencies since it only requires bar oil and a battery to be ready to go. The saw is made in Mexico and comes with a 3-year warranty.

    Power and convenience!
This battery powered 14” Milwaukee chainsaw is really powerful and convenient. Compared to a traditional gas chainsaw, there’s no mixing of fuel and no frustrations with difficult starts. Compared to typical corded electric saws, (obviously) no cord to drag around or get tangled in your work. We had some snow and ice recently which led to some downed limbs – this saw made really short work of cutting them into manageable lengths. The cuts were fast and clean and the stated capacity of 160 cuts per battery charge should be sufficient for homeowners. All this in a quiet, no emissions package! Plus it comes with a hard plastic scabbard to protect the chain. Highly recommended!

as good as gas with out the smell
The Milwaukee M18 FUEL 14 in. is one one of the best battery operated chainsaws I have used. It comes with a plastic scabbard chain protector and built in area for the scrench. We had a tree come down in a storm a few weeks ago. So I filled it up with bar oil, there is a window on the side of the saw to keep track of how much oil you have left. This was not a problem after bucking up most of the tree the battery was down to one bar after a hour and a half and I had plenty of oil left in the machine. Normally when my gas saw runs out its time to take a break this one kept going. They say this does 150 cuts but I am sure I did more than that

    Super saw for home
The Milwaukee M18 FUEL Chainsaw can do up to 150 cuts per charge with an XL battery. The brushless motor is good under heavy loads. It says REDLINK gives protection from overload, overheating and over discharge and I have found it to be automatic. I used the unit with 8.0 HD and a 12.0 HD battery and it does home tree maintenance, well. The saw can reach full throttle in under 1 second. It does need batteries and is not an all-day gas saw. Recommend a big HD 12.0 battery for bigger jobs or many smaller ones. The saw is lightweight, but sturdy and the weight is set more on the size of battery. Climbing with it in your hand is not difficult with smaller batteries. It uses a 14 in. Oregon bar and chain. There is a Milwaukee brand saw chain available. The very sharp chain helps fast cutting a lot. It has a variable speed trigger. It has an automatic oiler with 2.6 oz fill. It has an integrated slot for the combo screw driver wrench (Scrench). Takes all M18 batteries. Because it’s battery it can be carried without operation and starts without throwing an arm in the air. The brake is electrical cut off and physical and stops immediately. Very Safe.

    Works Great
We decided to add to our Milwaukee tool collection by obtaining the Milwaukee M18 FUEL 14 in. 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless Chainsaw (Tool-Only). We have come to rely upon our Milwaukee tools for auto, home and lawn maintenance as a DIY'er. The Milwaukee Cordless Chainsaw has met our expectations with the ability to carryout multiple heavy cuts with less hassle than a comparable gas chainsaw. The batteries that we were already using just made swapping to a fresh battery with others recharging a simple task. Very pleased with this chainsaws cutting ability and would highly recommend for your consideration.

    GRAB, GO, CUT
I carried a gas chainsaw in my truck for offroading/camping, preparing firewood and it's been replaced by this chainsaw. I was not surprised and surprised simultaneously, I wasn't surprised that Milwaukee made a good tool but I was surprised just how many pro's/benefits this tool has over my 42cc gas chainsaw, I compared the two and the m18 chainsaw cut slightly faster even with the gas having a freshly sharpened chain but the main benefits of the m18 chainsaw are: Very quiet On/off (not constantly running) No warming up/adjusting choke Not having to worry about refilling or keeping mixed gas on hand It is Faster to GRAB and USE period. I notice I use it more because it is faster to use and more convenient, that in itself makes it more useful.
