Easy to install and works great

An honest review. The utility of this item is good. There is definitely a need to store items above the usable space... but this thing requires perfect measuring (which I did) even in the X pattern to ensure I had a perfect square. Nonetheless, even with a perfect square, the vertical L-shaped rods did not fit properly when trying to assemble the rack. The instructions are subpar and very vague. I was left with flipping the top pieces various times to get it to align properly. Overall, I feel like it does what's intended but be ready to be a bit frustrated while installing it. Awesome product.

Pretty simple to install might be nice if it came with some sort of large template that you could tape to the ceiling. Lots of time spent up and down the ladder.

A little clunky to set up but looks good and heavy duty. Will buy another one soon.

This product was very easy to install, but it does take some time. Be patient. When installing the vertical pieces, be sure to screw both sides for added support. I also installed the vertical arms right where I bolted the angle bracket to the ceiling. While the installation was simple, four of the lag bolts broke. Luckily, there were four extra bolts in my kit, so it’s fine. I highly recommend you go and buy 12 of your own lag bolts. This is the reason I gave it 4 stars instead of five

Easy to assemble, but the metal isn't as thick as I was expecting. It will hold what I need to store, but I would be concerned if I pushed the 600lb limit. Great use of otherwise unusable space over garage door.

The design of this storage rack is good but the manufacture and quality control are horrible. When attempting to install the horizontal shelf rails onto the vertical supports, it is impossible to slide them into position in the slotted holes. The pins on the rails are too short and too thick. The instructions say to use a rubber mallet to seat the rails but that does not work. A 3 pound sledge wouldn't even get them to seat properly. Returned to store and purchased a different brand.

This is a good overhead rack. As others have pointed out, the hardest part was determining the studs in the drywalled ceiling in the garage. As you can see from the pictures, I ended up using my son's "magnetic rocks" that we had bought at one of the science museums to see where the studs were. Once you get that figured out, then the rack goes up pretty easy. Also, best to put the main frame together on the floor, and then attach the vertical members to the ceiling. You will need two people to mount this. Also, the steel grates that form the floor don't fit exactly flat. However, once you load it up, you should be fine. I ended up using some plastic lock ties to hold the grates in place.

This ceiling storage rack is excellent though a little challenge to install. The rack is really two 48" x 48" racks together and in fact the installation instructions are just for one 48" x 48" not the combined 96" x 48" rack. The rack was delivered in a heavily damaged box that was repaired with shipping tape. None of the parts were damaged but one bag of bolts and nuts were missing and there was an extra unrelated large part in the box. I called the Service number on the instructions and they immediately FedEx'd the missing bolts and nuts (plus extras) - however it resulted in a five day delay on the installation. The challenge was the center vertical supports because there are two supports on each center truss bracket which need to allow for the bolts/nuts on each - a space was needed to be created. The instructions did not address this. I fully assembled the rack on the garage floor to learn the best way to install it before actually doing it from the ceiling. I found that the best way to do the center supports was to have extra washers between each piece - specifically: bolt, washer 1, vertical support for right half, washer 2, center truss bracket, washer 3, vertical support for left half, washer 4, nut. This created enough space at the bottom of the vertical supports for the cross bars in all directions. This rack really holds a lot - make sure you use a good stud finder if your ceilings are sheet rocked.

Product was just as expected. I put them over the garage door as I have a 9 foot ceiling so I gained almost 100 square feet of unused space. Works great.

This was a perfect solution in my garage, for my storage needs. The price for this product is a great value. I gave it 4 stars because the boxes arrived damaged and was missing some of the hardware. The company puts the hardware in a thin plastic zip bag. And they were both destroyed. And it being a weekend project. I had to go, and buy hardware to complete it. It also took much longer to install then it looks. I bought 2 Kits and put them together, it took me approx 10 hrs to install. That makes it 8' X 8' that's 64 sqft. of above storage. Once installed it is a rock solid storage rack. ( Oh one other note.I had to file off some of the powder coating on all the keyhole locking pins. They did not want to sit all the down in the keyhole slots.) "NO biggie"

Incorrect instructions, missing parts, instructions that were in the box had holes and ripped pages. Very upset at the time this company put into quality control and packaging of their product. The zip lock bag holding the bolts, screws, hardware, etc were all over inside the box. I would very strongly advise against EVER buying this product. Home Depot should discontinue business with this vendor immediately.

Not a bad rack, but as others noted the instructions are extremely confusing and the hardest part of the install is finding the ceiling joist. So, if you buy this rack make sure you are a seasoned DIY'er who can adjust to issues that may come up during install. Overall I do still recommend it since it is resonantly priced and allows me to use my ceiling area for storage.

Horrible instructions. I have seen hebrew script easier to read than these instructions. The parts would not fit together, and the instructions were absolutely worthless. The box showed up and was literally falling apart, packaged in very cheap cardboard. Huge mistake ordering this item.

Kit is great for the money, I got one on sale for 77 bucks. You can't buy your own parts for less. Unfortunately like others have said, if you get it shipped, it will probably be missing parts when it comes in. It's no issue, they have excellent customer service, just call 773-475-3131 and they will ship you missing parts for free. Hardest part is getting the ceiling mounts up, if you're new to this and you have a finished garage, turn off the lights and use a flashlight on the ceiling to see which direction your joists run. you will see the line of nails running down the ceiling. Make sure you predrill holes for lag bolts, the bolts aren't made to self-drill.

easy enough to put together although the directions were not very clear and images a little confusing. A trick I found on the internet was to mount the ceiling brackets then use bungee cords to hold the bottom up close while you attach the frame.

I had to go with 3 stars, not because the item it lacking, but because HD did a horrible job at shipping. First the rack itself is great. Very sturdy and does what it's supposed to. However, this particular version is really just 2 48" racks. You can hang them completely separate if you wish. However, if you do put them together, be mindful that there's a slight gap where they meet, so it's actually a bit more than 96". Regardless, as you can see we put ours up together and managed to get it to work. *(note do not put up ceiling braces exactly 48" apart, before hold the contraption up to see if it will work. We had to adjust as the distance is not exact. Now, when this package arrive, there were pieces literally sticking out of the box. It looked like it had traveled across the country in a wagon. When opened there were absolutely NO instructions, NONE! A gajillion pieces and what we hoped were all the nuts and bolts, but zero instructions. We had to google it and find the closest match we could. As i mentioned, we made it work, but it was poor processing and shipping from Home Depot. And for the person in the review that said they installed it by themselves, good for you. Any normal human being would need help!

The hardest about adding the unit: finding the studs and location to fit this large unit. The job was 8 hours doing this along with 4 hours spent finding the studs and location.

Id rate this higher, but the instructions to assemble it are really confusing. The metal seems decent quality but when comparing with other metal shelves I've purchased for much much cheaper price, this just feels way overpriced for what it is... In any case, I needed a ceiling rack, so whatever... Still "happy"

The shelf are well made, but the intruction are difficult to understand. Some of the bolts did not screwed on to the nuts.

I bought this mainly because it was the cheapest. For the price, it's worth it. Issue: 1. The instruction was completely useless. I just look at the pictures on HD and figure it out. 2. Broken bolts - my fault. I holes I pre-drilled were too small; learned it from utube after I broke a couple. I did buy larger bolts after breaking 2. 3. The rack at the bottom is a bit flimsy. When it get too heavy, it will bend and pull away from the edge. I anchored them to the edges with zip ties. 4. The parts don't fall/snap in place easily. I had to force them in with a mallet or my body weigh. I put this up by myself. I'm not very handy.

The rack is big and strong. The directions are not good and the grates don’t fit overly secure. I zip tied the grates to the frame and it works great. Pretty good value for the price

Not too bad to stall and gets the job done

The install process is the most difficult. The anchor brackets span 12” roughly with stud spacing @ 18” on Center. I had to locate 36” brackets, cut them down & paint them black. Not impressed with the system design.

It was a little hard to adjust the height because you have to adjust based on bolts and have make sure the heights are the same over the entire frame. The structure is holding well in my garage.
