Got a pack of these in my stocking this year. I attached a rare earth magnet to the end of one, using it as a retrieval tool to grab the end of the jack chain that I often fish wiring down wall cavities with. Using the other to keep an extension cord bundled. They seem to be holding up quite well thus far. I can think of so many things that they could come in handy for, and will be buying more.

These gear ties are fantastic. They are thick enough to hold things together (although not weight rated so don't go suspending something from a ceiling with them), like a sleeping bag pad, but malleable enough to be easily twisted. The large end pieces make them stay together better if the item being secured exerts force to open the ties.
The bright orange color makes the ties easy to locate when in use or thrown into a storage bin. 18" seemed like it would be too long, but it works perfectly as it provides ample length to wrap a few times. I will be buying more of these.

18 in. Gear Tie in Bright Orange (2-Pack)
Perfect for wrapping up small extension cords or even small Christmas lights etc. This particular Gear Tie is not for heavy duty outdoor type extension cords, but this product also comes in both smaller and much larger heavy duty offerings for those bigger items. I liked them because so many of these type products are hard to wrap and unwrap, but the Gear Ties are a simple product that simply works. You just need to judge the weight and size of what you want to tie up and choose the correct length and strength Gear Tie for the job.

Big, robust, easy to see, and a must have for any handy person, or any household. I discovered these kind of ties a few years ago and wondered how I did without them before? Zip ties have a place, but they must be cut off. For things you don't need to heavily secure, and just want to gather together, these work wonders.
You can reuse them. I don't use them every day, so I don't know the full duty cycle, but they should last quite a while.
This size is pretty big and thick for heavier loads. They come in other sizes too, so while you are at it, get a few other sizes, thicknesses and colors!

Fun to just play with. I was looking for a way to organize bundles of cables in my truck tool box and thought I would give these a try. They are easy to bend to hold things and untie. I don't think they would hold much weight but the cable bundles were still neat and organized when I got to the job site. Another good use is keeping your four year old busy while you try to get some work done. He was fascinated with them and I had to go dig them out of his toy box at the end of the day so I could put them back in my truck. He spent a long time twisting them up and they felt just like new.
These rubber twist ties are amazing. You can secure things together easily and take them apart and re-use them over and over. Strong and durable. Get them a little longer than you think you will need to make it easier to twist them.
