This caulk is extremely good, but can be a little difficult to work with depending on job. Flexible and strong and great when working with Hardieboard.

Why can't I tool
Appears to have sealed my window, only problem is that it states that I'm not supposed to tool it. I did tool it to make it look decent, window hasn't leaked.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. These instructions are provided for reasons that tooling a sealant too thin, smearing/feathering the sealant, and/or not maintaining sharp edges when a colored sealant is applied will result in premature color fading of the applied sealant. This is not to say you cannot do this, keeping in mind a sealant without sufficient body cannot perform well in an exterior application and can result in premature failure in which case maintenance would be needed sooner than later.

Worked as advertised
It worked great o seal a leaking window. My only negative is it was not as easy to apply when using standard chalk gun.

This went on very well while sealing a metal on metal roof penetration with snow and ice present. It provided excellent adherence and seal and was very easy to tool into place.

The caulk was hardened and was very difficult to squeeze out of the tube. It took me three times as long to complete the project.

Based on the description you provided, it sounds like the product was expired, or past its usable shelf life of 24 months from the date of manufacture, unopened. As with all items sold through retailers, a product exhibiting an issue should be returned to the place of purchase for exchange or refund.

Sealant was pretty thick would not come out of smaller hole. Excellent as an adhesive but, not for caulking.

Thank you for the question. OSI QUAD MAX Sealant is one of our best sealants. It does have a higher viscosity than most sealants and requires a higher-quality caulking gun with a high hand-thrust ratio. Also, it is important that the tube opening be cut big enough and the foil seal is broken before reattaching the nozzle. The nozzle opening should be at least ¼ inch or larger.
