I have a 7.1 Surroundsound system I have in basement where the Ceiling is unfinished. After installing the product in the Ceiling, which was extremely easy, my children can still hear my music when played at a minimal volume on the 2nd story.Results are minimal.

I really like this insulation. I wanted to try something other than fiberglass, that would be fire resistant and provide some sound proofing. This is perfect!

I wish this stuff was priced more like fiberglass insulation. I would’ve done my whole house with it, if I could’ve afforded it. I insulated a couple of rooms, for sound proofing and this stuff performs great!

NEVER consider wool for an "exposed area". Moths love natural fibers and wool is exactly what they fester and feed on. You could end up with moths in every conceivable room, under furniture, on walls, closets, clothes, EVERYWHERE!!!

Used in new home. Ran out halfway through project and ended up having to get a few difficult brands since this was out of stock. In the end, the Owens Corning brand was more brittle and difficult to install compared to other options such as RockWool Safe N Sound. If I had were to do it again I'd stick with the RockWool option

Inconsistent quality-- some is very firm and cohesive and other sections are floppy and thin. Also, this contains formaldehyde, which 1) smells bad and 2) is a toxic carcinogen. Good job, Home Depot and Owens Corning! Huzzah. Not scratchy to work with, but it makes an awful mess-- like, a cloud of fibery particles- to cut.

I have used quite a bit of this and also the competitive product from Roxul. I ended up buying this because homedepot's competitor just couldn't deliver. So with trepidation I decided to switch and use this product. It turns out this was a great decision as this product is better and much easier to put into ceilings. Like other reviews I do recommend wearing a mask and gloves when installing. (I also use a long sleeve shirt.). There is a slight amount of fiber released as you are installing and there is also some "dust" (feels like grit) that comes out. However, I have found these batts to have far more structure to them and far less grit than the competition. All good. In particular, some care has to be taken when installing as it can and will tear easily. Again though, I found these batts to be far greater in consistency and a bit more firm - therefore much easier to install - especially if you are going to put them up over your head in say ceilings. One note of caution. My ceiling joists are the engineered "quiet floor" beams. While on a consistent 16 inch center, They are WIDER apart than wood joists. This means the batt won't fit securely between joists. Fortunately, I found if I cut them in thirds (ie 15 5/8 length) I can put them in the overhead joists. Right now I am using construction glue to ensure they will stay . AND if you have any deviation you will have to cut them to custom length. For spans greater than 18 or so inches I had to use some sort of strapping to hold. Again, this is only for ceiling type installation. Net, far cleaner and slightly more rigid and definitely more consistent in construction than the competitive product. I have yet to seal up the whole ceiling so can not speak to efficacy in sound dampening. I expect simlar results to others.

Installed easily. Cut it with a serrated kitchen knife. Haven't tried to set it on fire though so I can't confirm the fire protection...lol

Don't buy misleading nothing like rockwool its overpriced compressed fiberglass insulation

This material was easy to work with and made a huge difference in dampening the sounds.

It works as described, but tears easily. Once you learn it’s limits during handling, it becomes a welcome addition to the project.

Used the mineral wool as a sound barrier for our basement ceiling and the bathroom and laundry room. The product was pretty easy to handle. Pretty fragile but that's expected.

It really doesn’t burn.

Love to get naked and roll in it

We purchased the RockWool product before the Owens Corning and it is a much better product, easier to handle and didn't irritate my skin.
