Works great. Its not an A/C, but it helped keep our downstairs cooler when our A/C stopped working. Once the A/C was fixed we decided to still turn it on once in a while as a humidifier. Gets our desert home to over 50% humidity inside when its 1% humidity outside. No instruction book in box.

WORKS WELL. Craftsmanship leaves a bit to be desired. Water cover will not fit on because of the case was not squared up. Maybe it was put together by a robot.

Didnt work as well as I would like. I'm going to return it and purchase a air conditioner.

Can't step more than two feet from the coller

its very finicky.... it leaks and doesn't run smoothly down the filter. im not sure if its defective or not.

Did not work look at all the reviews they state the same. Came in broke Sent refurbished unit at that.

Love this cooler! I use it on my back porch to ease up the Florida heat and humidity. I add some ice on especially hot afternoons for an extra boost of cool. A tank of water lasts me 5+ hours. It is a bit loud if you want to chat with someone but easily remedied; sit near each other.

Did not cool very well at all

The first box we bought(picked up) was sealed and didn't look opened before. When we got him it was used and missing parts- had to return it. The "new" one we picked up works great except the louvers do not stay in a position, always pointing down. Besides the set backs, it works great!

it provides the cool air when i am on the porch. I like to add ice to make it cooler.

No Cooling effect. I need to cool a 100 Sq Ft lobby area. The temp can reach 90+ deg when sun is out. The $400 unit only serves to move the hot air around a little and greatly humidify the small lobby similar to a indoor shakoozie. Customers complain that they feel like they are in a steam room

Very cheaply made. If it was $250 or less i would recommend it! but not for $400.

Too noisy.

Very impressed.....rolled out of the box ready to go.....put in water...plugged it in and have been enjoying it on the covered patio.

Works great and very portable.

I have now had two of these units. The first one the pump switch or pump was broken, which Home Depot gladly replaced with their floor model since it was the last one they had. The second one worked fine for awhile but has developed a leak somewhere. I will be returning the second unit today (7-24-18) and getting a refund.

We have several different brand evap coolers in our service shop. As one would wear out we would replace it with another brand in hopes of finding one that would not only give us longer service but do a better job in cooling. We purchased this Port-a-cool unit and it has out performed all the other brands by a long shot. The basically all plastic design has made this machine hold up much longer. All the others we tried had a lot of metal where water contacts and rusting parts were a constant issue. This is a very nice, dependable and efficient machine and we will purchase more of these as needed. Only complaint is that if you are not connected to a constant water source (water hose) the tank will run out of water quickly. It does have the ability to control the water flow but unless you have it full open it doesn't cool as well. I would recommend this cooler to anyone in need of one.

It works good in one room. It seems to take a lot of water but hard to tell since are other swamp cooler had hose hooked up to it. I would purchase it again.

Home Depot is not at fault over this product as long as they accept the worthless thing back. Had it two days before the hinge on the water adjustment cover broke. Called Port a Cool and they sent a replacement part right out. The day the part arrived the fan switch would no longer work. This was 9 days total use. That averaged over $50 per day when you divide the purchase price by the nine days I was able to use it. I have used larger units in the past that worked very well. I guess they need to go back to the suppliers and get better switches as this seems to be a problem in several of the reviews on here.
