I bought the 20lb pail of wild bird food and was extremely alarmed by the lack of bird seed vs wood pulp/chips. For the first time I will return the 2 $35 each purchases for a refund. It CAN'T be healthy for the birds to consume this mixture!

Way too much millet for the price.

Disappointed, the mixture had a lot of grounded other ingredients/materials: like sticks. Would never buy again

I bought the 40 lb bag of bird seed above. I put a cup of the seed on the railing for the morning doves because they can't get on the feeder. What was left on the railing was quite a large amount of gravel!!!

The birds ate it. At the end of the day- what more can you ask of birdseed?

I wonder why the birds stop eating the seeds than I notice the weeds or grass growing from it. The rest of the bag went to the trash, what a waste of money.

I’ve been buying this for a few years now and the birds have loved it. The last few bags have been different. It looks different and the birds haven’t been eating it all. See picture with all the seeds left. I’ll be switching to a no waste more $$ seed.

I now understand why Pennington decided to switch to a white, non-transparent container for this wild bird food - it's FILLED with twigs and debris. Take a look at the image I attached to this review - that's what I pulled out of a 10oz cup I use to scoop seed from the container to pour into my feeders. I would say almost 10-15% is non-edible debris, etc. I've never seen so much debris in bird seed I've purchased in the past, regardless of brand. Don't buy this, even if on sale!

I buy a lot of wild bird seed from multiple sources. I have never seen this much debris in a container of wild bird seed. The photo on the HD website is incorrect. It is not a see-through container. The container is opaque so there is no way to see what is in it until you get it home and open it. No other food was on display. Just opaque sealed plastic buckets.

Blue Jays, sparrowa, nuthatches, robins, cardinals,and morning doves flock to my yard for this food.

Just started this about 2monts ago. Feed is safe for all wild birds. I get at least 3-4 types of birds visiting eating seeds

Good mixture but quite a few sticks in the bag.

The birds and the squirrels love it. Come by each day for these seeds.

Bag was moldy and infested with thousands of insects. Had to return the product to Home Depot for a refund. Double bagged it and put it in a bin before putting it in my car. Won't be purchasing it again

Wow! We spent 30 minutes sifting out the wood slivers and pieces of wood. Very dangerous stuff in this bag of seeds. I am a veterinarian so was Horrified at what would happen to the poor birds if this is the garbage they allow in the bag I will NEVER purchase this brand again.

Has chunks of I don’t know what. See pics and decide. It stinks and moldy. Not sure if this is safe to feed any wild life.

This bag looks like it had mold in it. This is my first time buying seeds for wild birds so I’m not sure if it’s ok or not.

Had too much non-seed material (straw?).

I’ve never had a problem with our wild birds eating until now. They won’t touch it. They fly up, toss it around then are gone. I personally would not recommend this particular seed.

There is a lot of twigs and debris in the seed.

This seed is clean of debris and attracts a variety of birds to the feeder using it. It's brought jays, chickadees, and song sparrows among others. I will purchase this again soon with lots of hungry birds around.

This mix has little hard seeds that the birds won’t touch. So I Essentially have a bag of seed that no bird wants. Never buy this mix again.

A picture is worth a thousand words. In addition to the sticks featured in other reviews, the quality control team gave us a few other fun surprises in the form of bug parts and burrs. There were also a hefty number of seed pods with no seeds in them. I'll be forking over the money for good quality in the future. This stuff is awful.

I'm writing this review for my Birds because they literally have thrown it back at me and are standing there looking at me going when are we going to get some real food

Terrible product. The top few inches of the bag was a solid block of moldy germinated seeds. The rest was barely okay with pretty big pieces of wood filling the bag. Would not recommend this brand at all.

I purchased this wild bird seed and the bag has chips of wood in it. I'll show some images. It's got all kinds of trash in the bag. I really expect more from a birdseed company. On Pennington's website, they have reviews from 2 years ago about this trash. Apparently, they still don't care. Nowhere on the package does it say anything about wood or trash. Oh and I'm paying for 20lbs. of birdseed and trash, not just birdseed. The photo shows pieces of wood that were right on the surface. I didn't have to search for these pieces of wood. We'll have another photo after most of the seed has been eaten to see how much wood is left. We'll determine how much wood we are paying for :(

Our wild birds love it!!

The birds love that we put this out for them. We like feeding the birds and bringing in the wildlife to our yard. Since we had to cut down the “bird tree” due to disease, we have put this back where the tree was on flower hooks. That has kept the birds coming back through the disruption.
