Only had it for a very short time ,to soon to give it a honest rating.

Setup per instructions to start the compressor. Flipped the power switch; motor started and watched the gauges to read the pressure build up; NOTHING. Turned it off and pulled the bleed valve, no pressure. Did this several times and never did it pump any air into the tank. ZERO; returned it for a brand that would work. Would not recomment this brand.

Arrived defective, was going to return, decided to disassemble, was an easy fix but not for the average homeowner! Porter Cable used to be a high end tool manufacturer but apparently not any more, been in the construction trade 40+ years , very disappointed, will not purchase any more of their products!

So far it’s working great!

I returned this unit as it made a loud metallic sound as the compressor ran. Bought a different brand that worked as expected.

Needed to replace an old nail gun, but this deal on a reliable product was too good to pass up.

The units sounds like the motor shaft is rattling and going to break. I don’t think this will last long.

Very satisfied with performance. Works great with nail gun. Not very loud.

Only used once so far. Even though the instructions do not say to break it in. I ran it 5 minutes with the drain valve wide-open, let rest, ran another 10 minutes, let rest, ran another 10 minutes. Let rest and cool down, then closed drain valve, and let it build pressure. It did fine on the first and only test. I have a HF 6 gal Fortress, where I bought the extended warranty. 1st thing to go on the Fortress was the regulator knob. It would fall off, so I left it off and put an extra wrench on it with a string and did the regulation with the wrench. Next thing that happened was the one-piece part where the two outlets and regulator attach, cracked. Leaked air like crazy. I saw this Porter Cable on sale, if I bought it on line. I ordered it and the extended warranty and took the Fortress back for a refund. It had been 6 months, so I needed the HF extended warranty. Was told there would be a $28 re-stocking fee unless I used the warranty towards another compressor. Decided to just get the same one, but skipped the extended warranty. So now I have two 6 gallon compressors. One with a 90 day warranty and another with a 2 year extended warranty. Once the 90-day Fortress warranty expires, I plan to use the Porter Cable until that extended warranty expires. I can hook them up together and use one or the other as a 6 gallon extra reserve holding tank, giving me 12 gallon total. So far I have done that 5 times using the Fortress as the main compressor and the Porter Cable as the extra storage tank. I am surprised at the end of the day the amount of moisture that comes out of each drain hole. So always drain after every use even if only using as a holding tank.
