Easy to use. Easy to apply. And it looks great. It truly brings the wood color out and makes the wood look very high quality.

Not happy with the way my fence came out. The paint looks different on half of my fence for some reason. I would like a full refund.

Preserva Wood Redwood is a transparent oil-based wood stain, not a paint. If you happen to have new boards and old boards, and you didn't clean and prepare the fence properly prior to staining, then you may well have a different appearance on some boards. Also, if you stopped stirring the stain part way through the project (per the directions on the label), then you might have a section of fence that is lighter than previous section.

Great Product.....but
The Good Very easy to apply with a rag. The cedar color is beautiful. Overall a great product. The Bad Echoing other customers, it does not last. I have to clean and restain annually. The Ugly It is highly flammable. The rags will self ignite if left in the sun. Lastly, it does not stop the propagation of mold. The wood must not contain any spores or it will spread like rapid fire under the coatings. Some bacteria from bird poo also seems to love this stuff. I actually have to sand to bare wood to remove and reapply stain.

Preserva Wood is not flammable. Oil soaked rags must be treated properly after use, according to the instructions on the can (soak in water and lay out to dry outdoors). Regarding mold, only a registered pesticide can claim to stop mold and mildew (see Copper Green if you need such a product). To maintain your deck with Preserva Wood, simply clean on an annual basis with a detergent based cleaner, treat for mold and mildew if they exist and reapply a light coat of stain as needed (every 2-3 years). You shouldn't need to sand.

Good product overall. As with all the products like this one they are all expensive That’s the biggest downside. Luckily my project wasn’t too big so I didn’t need much. I would buy it again.

    Good looking Stain
I have stained many fences before using other water based stains but have not used oil based stain until I tried the Preserva Wood. I was pleasantly surprised at how good it looks after application. It seems like it takes more of the Preserva Wood oil based stain to cover the same area when compared to silicone or water based products but I personally like the looks of the oil based better. It seems to dry faster and gives the wood more of a deeper, richer look. Only time will tell how it compares to the weather but so far I am happy with this stain.

The seal on the lid melted and I was unable to seal the can. The lid need a better seal.

I've used only this product on my deck & porches for several years. It always produces a great finish and lasts for 2 years. I won't use anything else.

Not as good as Behr. That will teach me for being cheap.

Preserva Wood is oil based and Behr is primarily water based. Our costs are very similar, so possibly you have the wrong product?

    Turns black after sun exposure.
At first fence looked good, after one summer here in the central coast ca. Started to turn black, extremely disappointed with this product!

It's probably time to clean your fence. They tend to get dirty in the winter, especially after the wet and windy one we just had. Soap and water, and a pressure washer on a low setting will work well.

Following the directions for application did not yield the desired result. Contrary to claims on the can, it's taken in excess of 72 hours for drying/curing. I applied the stain/sealer at the rate of 1 qt per 144 sft so it wasn't a matter of excess material.

Even though you did not apply an excess amount of stain, our guess is that the stain was applied to a surface that would not absorb the amount you applied (possibly as a result of the previous coating or insufficient preparation). Our instructions ask that you only apply as much stain as will be readily absorbed by the wood. Any excess stain will sit on the surface of the wood and cure. This cured stain is soft and flexible, which can create a tacky surface. The excess stain is simple to remove. Please contact us at info@preservaproducts.com for assistance.

This was SO MUCH better than my previous product. We used it on heart redwood and it covers nicely but has shiny and dull spots. I suspect a nother coat several years from now will even out these spots.

It covers and helps maintain the wood very well. The color seems to last a long time. It still looks good after a full year of sun exposure.

Good product. Easy to apply and seems to be even coverage. Will know for certain once stain dries completely.
