If you poor in concrete the grates are impossible to remove without breaking.The concrete doesn't allow any flex in the plastic to relieve the clips.The video isn't correct and there is also another complaint about this in another review.my only regret when doing my pool landscaping was not spending the extra money on a proper full stainless box and grates.

I bought 2 then and extra one later as they clip together and I needed a wider trough to take away the water from my driveway

This kit is a three pack of 5 in. wide x 5.25 in. deep x 39.4 in. long Channel Drains in black with Portland Grey top grates. You can use these drains separately or linked together to eliminate pooling in low spots in landscape beds, patios, pool areas, or anywhere you need to channel water away. The three can be linked together to span a 10-foot-wide driveway. Connect to four-inch drain pipe either on the bottom or ends of the units. The kit come with one end plate and one end pipe connector, additional connectors are available to purchase. These are heavy duty units, with the grate designed to support both people and vehicle loads. I installed one to drain a low spot in a landscape bed inside a pool area, and one to channel water away from a basement wall, where there was a low spot in the landscape bed. Easy to install, just dig in and install and connect outlet pipe. Low profile of the units allows for installation without excessive digging. I covered the grate area with river rock to hide the top unit and to help filter dirt/mulch from the system. These units do a great job of keeping water from areas where you dont want it collecting, and help keep surrounding areas dry.

The item arrived well packaged and undamaged. The channel is very solidly constructed. For a plastic product it is surprisingly heavy. External cross beams run along the length of the channel on the outside. They provide great rigidity and strength. There are slots that allow either an end cap or another channel to attached. A second channel attaches easily and securely. There are pop outs if you are a attaching a vertical drain accessory. The grate is very solid and heavy. Removing the grate is not immediately intuitive, but a quick glance at the manufacturer's website cleared that process up. I would prefer that the grate be secured with screws, but instead they are held in place by tabs. The tabs require the use of a Flathead screwdriver to bend the plastic tabs in order to remove the grate. This type of removal worries me for the long term because plastic tends to become brittle after years of exposure. I believe this is to be the only detractor for this item. I do wish an end cab would come with the channel but you have to purchase all additional accessories. Overall I am pleased with the product and I recommend this item.

I could see using this in front of a door, cast in concrete, or maybe a series of these lengthwise along a pathway. This winter we had lots of freeze/thaw going on and the ground was too frozen to absorb the water, totally wish I had this installed

Storm Drain Series 5 in. W x 5.25 in. D x 39.4 in. L Channel Drain Kit with Portland Grey Grate (3-Pack) By RELN DRAINAGE SYSTEMS. I was pleasantly surprised when I opened and handled these drains. The are made of heavy duty plastic reinforced with honey combed design to allow these drains to be set in concrete with out worrying about collapsing. The removable top grates will hold up to cars traveling over them. Each section slips into a grove to provide water tight flow the whole length of the run. It comes complete with a end stop and a preformed pvc connector piece which finishes out the run.

Poor gutter placement on the roof of our split level home leaves us with a large puddle after a big rain. The storm drain channel kits are the perfect solution for us. Digging out a channel and installing the drains took about 1-2 hours. The product is high quality and seems like it will last over time. The channels are tension fit, so I worry that with settling and time, they may become disconnected. The channels also seem deeper than necessary for a residential application. It required more digging than I expected, but I know it will be able to handle a large volume of water. The grates are the entire top of the product (I thought they would only be a portion of the top). With so much exposed area, I worry that the grates will clog easily with soil, leaves, and storm debris. The easy clip on grates should make cleaning a breeze without having to deal with screws. I am excited that the U shaped channel prevents water pooling. Mosquitoes are a huge problem in our area, so we definitely don't want standing water. The drains connect easily to a 4 inch pipe. The channels accommodate a pipe coming from below the channels or from the side--perfect for whatever your configuration. This set of 3 channels was able to run along our entire bay window and family room addition. With a pipe added, I know it will solve our muddy puddle problem! Simple, easy to install, and high quality. Definitely recommend!

As soon as the weather breaks, I’ll be starting a new 3 car garage. I need a way to channel the water from under the cars, especially in the winter as the ice melts off. I also like to wash my cars year-round so this will make it nice. I’ll be running 1 each length wish under the cars. Installation looks simple enough. These have cross braced ribs to give it strength and rigidity and anti-floating feet to prevent it from floating once concrete is poured around it. You only get one each end cap and an end outlet. It also has a bottom outlet, which is what I plan on using. So I needed to purchase several 1003050361 end caps. I think it’s a very good price for 3 of them. I would recommend.

The RELN 40 in. Channel Complete with Portland Grey Grate is sadly not what I expected. It is entirely plastic and I do not think it is going to withstand the test of time in the Arizona heat and sun. I will not be installing it where I had hoped as once installed it is a major reconstruction to remove it if it does not hold up.I am going to try one that is galvanized steel. This plastic one might work fine on a small walk way that is out of the sun but not on a driveway that is going to be in the sun all the time.

RELN channel drain was very easy to use and simple to install! Strong product and very durable. Loved all the options that are available

Small crack in the plastic turned into a complete split upon installation.

It hasn’t rained yet, but I am positive it will do the job.

Easy to install but MUST be tightly back-filled. They expand over time. Just replaced 5 sections. Good product overall.

They don’t make a very good connection

works great..easy to attach to drainage pipe…if there is one thing that I would recommend is that you drill some holes and anchor it w/rebar/concrete…the first rain, it started to float like a boat w/o it

While one section alone is good if you try to attach two together they don't lock together and the end piece doesn't stay attached as well.

Solid and performs as it should. Worth the additional $$$ as it is well made, strong and durable. Great that you can increase the length by adding additional sections.
