This is the quality you expect to get in a working tool. The welds are complete and the steel quality is excellent. The size and weight are both good. The blade cut quickly through he soil making short work of the job. The blade design may be the reason and it works well, making the job easier. The design and welds should last a lifetime with minimal care.

This is a great, very comfortably and efficient hoe. I have spent the summer installing a walkway from pavers which included leveling the sloping ground. I broke my 25+ years old hoe and this was a great replacement. First the handle is 64 1/2 inches long giving a great reach for pulling dirt. The 7 inch wide blade which is about 1 1/2 inches wider than my old hoe, cuts clean and easy, making a clean level surface, that I'll add soil and sod to later. I dug through some tough clay and used the hoe to smash and cut it up to mix with dirt and spread. Went really easy, was somewhat surprised how well it chopped up the thick clay pieces. The handle is wood, thought about fiberglass but this is very comfortably even without gloves. It's also lightweight which i appreciate. The price is higher than other hoes, but the length of the handle, width of the hoe blade, and it feels very solid makes it worth it if you plan on having it for years. I try to buy tools that will last. Can't see anything wrong, so I'm hopeful it will last many years.

This seems to be a well made and heavier duty hoe then most of the ones I’ve looked at. The blade is about an inch wider and heavier then some of the others I looked at. It works well in the garden and other areas. Instead of using a single rivet or metal pin to secure the metal rake to the wooden handle, I would like to see 2 and have them go all the way through. This is where I’ve seen most of my problems over the years with rakes, hoes, shovel, etc. The only reason I’m giving it a 4 is because of the price. It’s more than double the price of some other well-made hoes. It also has a “Life time Warranty” but I don’t see anything on this (THD) web site as to what that means?? Here’s a link to the Razor-Back Warranty web-site. https://www.razor-back.com/resources/warranty-information/

I've never owned a hoe, but I can tell you that this one, with the extra long wood handle, will reduce my hand, neck, back and shoulder strain. I tested it in very cold weather where the ground has been introduced several times to frost, and this product is very sturdy. The blade isn't sharp, but moved the soil easily. It will aid in my endeavor to dislodge weeds or mound and shape soil in the spring.

Sturdy and very good quality. Trying to get all the materials and tools I will need for the spring projects or anything else that comes up in the meantime. I did try using this tool when I first got it. Handle feels good in the hand and very easy to use. Needed to clean out a small area in the mulch and this worked perfectly. Never have done yard work in the past but this hoe will help me immensely. Highly reccomend.

Living on a home with five acres of property I often find myself needing gardening/construction tools to do work around the property. I got this “Meadow/Blackland” hoe to help doing work around the property. The soil in the area is fairly hard and rocky but this hoe is able to handle the soil without difficulty. The handle on the hoe is a 60 inch wooden handle and held up well when I was working with it. I was a little concerned about the wood handle because I think there are stronger materials but the wood handle seemed to perform well. The blade on the hoe seems very sturdy and well made. I think I will get a lot of use out of this hoe and would definitely recommend it.

This is a well made hoe that has a five foot long handle and a sharp blade to make easy cuts and swings to get to hard to pull weeds. I used this to get rid of weeds that would grow in the gravel around my wood shop. It cut the weeds so well that I was able to pull the weeds out by the roots. I have had to pull these by hands for years and this made it much easier. The handle is comfortable to grip and the hoe is very sturdy.

Hoe Hoe Hoe, an early Christmas present for myself. My old hoe lost its head while I attempted to break up some hard clay soil; it had a wood handle wrapped in fiberglass and a short ferrule. That combination allowed water to seep in and be trapped under the fiberglass and eventually the wood inside the handle rotted. So – when looking for a new hoe, I wanted a longer ferrule with a solid wood handle. The Razor Back checks all the boxes, and then some. It has an extra wide blade to cover more ground, and a tapered solid wood handle which allows you to rotate the hoe to any angle. You can use the long edge, a side edge, or a 45 degree angle for furrowing or chopping out weeds all while maintaining the same comfortable grip. The long ferrule absorbs most of the impact and keeps the wooden handle well above wet soil.

This hoe is very solid. Stronger than any that I have previously had. The blade is familiar sized and the handle seems like a little longer than most. Very nice wood handle is comfortable. It is 8 or 10 inches longer than other tools in my shed. The connection is strong. Heavy duty rivet is solid in the handle and the welding of the blade to the connector is very solid..

For years I have been using a hoe that was a hand me down and recently the handle broke. So the need for a new replacement. This new razorback got my attention primarily because of the handle. It turns out that the handle is about 10 inches longer than the length of the old one. That longer length gives me more leverage thus far easier overall work load I'm happy camper and the new handle has no slivers. Enjoy yours!

Really nice hoe with long handle but attaching method for handle is very poor. This works great in our garden which is very large. Not really made for concrete mixing but in a pinch I will use it to mix concrete too. In the garden it is great for digging a ditch next to the planted veggie rows. Long reach handle is very nice. Only negative is the handle attachment is flimsy!

Razorback is a name I have been familiar with for many years and considered to be a top brand name. This Meadow Blackland hoe has a nice high-quality forged blade and the blade tang and heavyweight ferrule are welded into a single solid unit. There will be no loosening of this during use. The wood handle is also a solid clean grained hardwood stick and promises long life with hard usage. So, the components are consistent with the reputation of the brand. Unfortunately, the joining of the components, at least on the hoe I got, was poor. The ferrule was about 1/8 inch larger than the tapered end of the handle and the two parts are held together with only a single small nail so it wiggled. The fix was not difficult but should not have been needed. I pulled the nail trimmed the end of the handle a bit, re-joined the two and replaced the nail with a stainless screw.

The Razor-Back Meadow/Blackland Hoe is a very well made hoe and has a long reach handle that can easily reach further then a small handled hoe. I use it for gardening and it does everything that I need it to do but my preferred use for it is to use it to mix cement it is my choice of tools to go for better then a shovel especially if your using a tub to mix your cement or concrete mix. Razor-back is my choice for these type of tools and The Home Depot carries a great selection.

You can never have too many hand gardening tools and this hoe is no exception. It is very well made, easy to hold and use, and I expect it to last me for several years. I was a little disappointed because I thought this was larger than the average hoe, but it's really the same size as others I've had. But even with the size issue, it's still sturdy and like I said, I expect this to last me a long time because of its excellent construction.

Very well made! Solid hoe with a rivet holding the end to the wooden handle. I wanted a hoe with some substance to it. So many flimsy ones today with the working end of the hoe just pushed onto the handle and as you work the ground it keeps falling off. This rivet held strong whenever I used this hoe. The blade is a nice 6.5” inch and feels very comfortable weight wise when working ground.

This hoe is well built. It features a solid, hardwood handle that is extra long, a full 60 inches. The handle is fastened to the blade with a single steel pin. The width of the hoe blade is 7 inches. I found the hoe's long handle length did not require me to bend over as much as my old, shorter hoe and this made using this hoe less strenuous on my back and shoulders. The blade is held to the handle via a steel ferrule and is seems to be pretty strong. Testing this hoe out by digging up a bunch of dirt which was nearly frozen solid, there was zero slippage of the ferrule. The blade itself is not particularly sharp; however the fact that it is beveled helps it to dig better. All in all this is a well built garden tool.

WORKS WELL for WEEDING and PREPARING SOIL — The Razor-Back Meadow/Blackland Hoe is a step up from a traditional garden hoe. For many years, the only hoes that I used for gardening were the traditional garden hoe and a shuffle hoe. Recently I acquired a beet hoe and a warren hoe. Now I see the advantages of having just the right hoe for the task. The meadow hoe is most similar to the garden hoe and beet hoe. The heavier and wider blade with the semi-sharp edge make it superior for weeding and breaking up large clumps of dirt. The long handle is a plus and allows the hoe to do more of the work. The hoe can also be used for non-gardening tasks. I would have like to have had it a month ago for smoothing the dirt bed before adding crusher-run for a brick walk. It has a lifetime warranty. The blade is made in China.

The Razor-Back Meadow/Blackland hoe is different than other hoes in that it has a wider 7" X 3.5" beveled blade. I use the hoe in my garden to make furrows for planting. I also used it in the yard for weeding and chopping. The hardwood handle is 60" long with an over length of 64" so you have less bending over. The forged steel head is attached with a steel ferrule. This is a quality hoe that has a lifetime warranty

I recently ordered several Razor-Back brand products and I am very impressed with the quality. This hoe is lightweight yet strong and sturdy. It has a 7 inch by 3.5 inch beveled steel blade, a forged steel head, and a smooth wood handle. I am using it to prepare the soil for planting in my 35ft by 100 ft garden and it was easy to maneuver and comfortable to use. It is reasonably priced and has a lifetime warranty. This is a wonderful product.

I was in need of a new garden tool to use for weeding and cultivating around my raised beds and the Razor-Back Meadow/Blackland Hoe is a good choice. The solid hardwood handle is very sturdy and allows you to have a firm grip on the tool. The bottom end of the tool is well made solid metal and feels very sturdy and is secured well to the wooden handle. One thing that could be improved, the handle itself is barely sealed with some sort of wood sealer, I would highly recommend sealing the wood before use.

The image suggests that the head is extremely wide. In reality, this is a standard hoe. Yes, I should have measured a standard hoe before ordering this. Instead I based the purchase solely on the image. The hoe does seem to be of decent quality. The web image is misleading, hence the rating.
