Easy install as a Diyer. So far so good

This hot water heater is premium for sure! I was already happy that it is a 12-year unit, but the higher BTU rating permits it to heat faster and support a bath in our large rub while someone else is using the shower or washing clothes. Good stuff!!

Gas valve damaged when I unboxed it. No hot water for a week now. Waiting on new part from Rheem. Unit never lit. Sitting in my basement fully installed and filled with cold water. Wished Rheem had shipped part overnight knowing our family had no hot water.

After I installed it, it worked OK. Month later product is not working. they make me wait 30 minutes online and after that they hang up on me. What are the worst service there is

I bought a tank and had to return it due to a gas leak from the tank itself. Now I will be returning the second tank I purchased and changing companies. I used soapy water and electronic gas tester to test gas lines. The lines were installed good. There has been a leak in the combustion gas inlets. The odor has been pronounced but less the second time. Technically any odor is considered a leaking tank. All and all dissatisfied and wasted valuable time putting in and swapping tanks.

would love to using my water heater but it was delivered all busted up. smashed and twisted. and goes all the way around the bottom.

Disappointed I didn’t open box at store to inspect for damage. The box indicated such, bottom had dents along with numerous scratches, documented (with pictures) once removed from box. If opened at store would a discounted been offered? Other damages: draft hood arms bended; jacket door compartment bended, door could not be initially installed.

Bought it as advertised and recommended by my HVAC friend. But to my surprise, Rheem's engineer did a poor job when they cut the vent short which causes some of the vapors to dissipate too soon at the openings which then creates condensation around the cold water pipe connection as shown in the picture. This will cause rust and other issues around the base of the galvanized pipe sooner or later depending the customer's water quality.

So far it's working like it should. We installed it ourselves and had no problems.

This unit fired up, right out of the box. Pleased with the quality! Pleased with how the install played out. Love the 12 year warranty. However keep in mind the first "3" years is parts and labor for replacement. And the last 9 are parts ONLY. So far so good! Rheem makes a nice rock solid heater. Tim

Gas control was leaking gas on the first day of installation.

My old water heater started leaking out of the top. Luckily, I went in my garage to look for something and saw the water everywhere. Never had a drain pan when I bought the house. I immediately got on HomeDepot.com to see what was available and Rheem had one to foot the bill. It was actually a few inches taller than the original which had me worried because the supply lines were coming in from the sidewall behind the location of the heater. The existing hot return line was good but the cold water supply had to have a very tight radius to meet the inlet on the WH. This thing is heavy, about 170 lbs., and I was doing this by myself. Had to get it onto a 2 ft. AFF pedestal and inside the new drain pan. It was very easy to light. Still going strong for the last month and I think it has a 12 year warranty.

The water heater was really easy to install and definitely meets our hot water needs!

Installed in 26 seconds flat. Paid $100. And works so well it heats my neighbors hot water for the whole block.

The box looked fine except for the top where the hand holes were located. This would suggest the dents were already present prior to the unit being boxed. Installation was fine and it is currently warming up. Will be contacting HomeDepot about the dents.

Called Home Depot and was given quote over the phone of around $1200 for this hot water heater and install. However, when technician got here, it was $500 more for new gas line, new water line pipes and expansion tank. Nobody to blame, you just need to be aware. Our city code requires an expansion tank (which was not on our old hot water heater) yes, the technician could have probably re-used the original gas line and water pipes. But better to be safe than sorry. I am sure they don’t want to re-use old parts when their reputation is on the line for the install. That being said, I called Home Depot install services at around 10am and by 3pm the old tank was out and new one put in. So, I can’t complain. Sure, I could have done it myself and got around the upgraded code issues...but now it’s done right by a licensed technician. 22 year old house and this is my third (3rd) hot water tank. I am sure the first one was “builders grade” and the second one had a 6 year “warranty” and it went out at eight (8) years. Not much cost difference on the tank itself going from a 6 year, 9 year to a 12 year warranty tank. I am sure the installation price would be the same no matter which grade I would have chosen. I have had this water heater for less than 2 years and it’s failing. Water is leaking from bottom as if it’s about to fail. I never had a water heater before fail in less than 10 years. But 2 years it’s poor quality. I didn’t keep receipt because I didn’t think I would have a problem with it. I tired entering SN and Model on Rheem warranty check site and it said it couldn’t find it. I put my email and phone number in and have yet to hear from anyone days later.

Home Depot came out the same day I called and installed it. which was nice since the old one started leaking. Of course I had to pay for it, but it sure looks nice. Hope I can forget about now for 15 years.

So this unit replaced my original Rheem unit from 1999! I am hoping this unit provides "Platinum Performance" like my previous one. So far so good but only time will tell!

My gas water heater was the original with the house I bought. It was 18 years old and began leaking. I looked it up and it was considered a 12-year product. When I got 50% more performance from my original Rheem, I could not consider anything else. Now a month in service, the new one is more efficient and of course cleaner than the first one. This is a fantastic product that I installed myself. It was very straight-forward and the worst of it was getting it into my second floor attic with a pull-down door.

I've been using this water heater for a very short time only and have no complaints. It is very quiet when lighting and heating.

Easy installation. I took me less that 2 hours to remove and replace my old hot water heater with this new one. Excellent warranty provides peace of mind. Hot water in less than one hour after installation.

The hot water heater is very nice. The control mechanism is very nice. The fact that Ignition is done without having to light with a match or a liter is very convenient and easy. The hot water heater once placed was a direct hook up to the existing connections which are all unions, no soldering involved which made installation very easy. Installed 18 April 2020 Exceeds all expectations, very efficient unit with a quick recovery time.

I've only had this water heater for a little over a week but, so far, so good. I picked it up and installed it myself. It was packaged well and appears to be built well,too. The price seemed fair based on a comparison to other units of similar size and warranty period. Here is a picture of it "in action":

Nice unit. 12 year warranty. 50 gallon tank takes care of hot water needs. Easy to install. Setting on 130° is plenty warm for shower or bath.

It's only been in place for 4 weeks. So far its performing well. Of course, the real "rating" comes after ~10 years has passed. This said, I'm feeling good about my research, choice of purchase, and installation. Time will tell.

Homedepot contractor 1-800-heaters charged $1300 just for the installation and dispose the old heater. It also takes 1 minute to get the water warm!

The top flanges on the cold and hot water intakes/outtakes are literally plastic. RIGHT next to the venting outlet. They are FREAKING MELTING! Right on the top of a year old water heater. Melting!!! Who puts plastic on a HOT WATER HEATER?!?! My gosh. Rheem what do you have to say?

I have five people in my house and have found that a 50 gallon water heater is a good size. This Rheem water heater had good reviews and was at a good price. Came with a 3 full year warranty with the remaining 9 years a limited warranty for a total of 12 years. Its been 3 days and seems to be working well. Installation was done by Feula plumbing. The attached photo shows their installation work. Nice Company to deal with.

This is a upgrade water tank. So much more efficient . Work great easy install. 2 hours start to finish. You can't beat the reviews.
