This one is going back for sure. I've been a fan of the LG portable air conditioners, having had 2 of them for a few years now. The first one lasted 8 years, the 2nd is more of a spare and temp use one, but also probably 8 years old. The bigger unit, a 13,000 BTU model needed to be serviced and with the cost of that, I figured it best to invest in a new unit. Hence the reason for this purchase. Now, I will say the unit FEELS solid, and at probably the north side of 75lbs, it is no lightweight, another sign of a decent product. The body and buttons seem very solid. It has casters to move it around (not up and down steps though) which is very handy. The power cord is awesomely thick, meaning thick gauge wire. And the plug has the GFI built into it as I'ms are they should or must have. All good. I go to install the completely ridiculous and very flimsy window exhaust kit and I'm immediately disappointed. Very thin plastic and one of the lock stops breaks off simply by the weight of the flimsy exhaust hose hanging the way it would hang. The connectors for the hose have to be installed onto the hose, but doesn't explain how in the book (turn counter clockwise onto the hose - don't laugh, you will need to know this if you buy this unit). The adapter for the window won't fit where it should for a standard double hung window that probably 75% of the USA homes seem to have. Instead, it is too big a diameter and won't allow you to close the window on the piece that fits between the sash and frame, because it is too big in diameter. Obviously never tested with various homeowners to see if it would work. Getting past that, and I was able to use the hose and window kit from my previous LG (Thank goodness) and the unit fired up fine, the fan gave a hearty flow of air, and the air seemed cold enough. So, I carry this upstairs and get it all set up. That night, and I keep my house cold, the unit could not maintain a cold temperature that was shown as the set point on the unit. Seriously. My home is at 68 and upstairs might be 70 when it is 68 downstairs. This I had set to 62 and it never got there. The room size? Maybe 15 x 15 or so. And it is already cooled by central air, this unit is to push down to 62 so I can alleviate the number of times I have PTSD related nightmares....if cold, it doesn't happen nearly as often. It seems as though the compressor runs for lets say 5 minutes, then 3 minutes of fan. And this repeated this rhythm often, almost the whole time once I noticed the pattern. So the room started at 66 or so it said, even though the room was already around 70. Cold air, yes. Blowing, yes. Does it stay on compressor until cooled down, no. Total fail. While I'm not complaining because Home Depot has a great return policy, I have to get this back into its box, tape it up somehow so it holds, then get it to the store for a refund (no portable units of any kind in store now, since summer is half way through). This unit shipped from California, guess they stock them out there due to year round hot weather. For the money, I am extremely disappointed with what I got. I expected my smaller room to be a meat locker with a 14,000 BTU unit, as has been the case with the LG unit that needs servicing. This was most certainly not the case this time around. And I will be going through the hassle of the return process which lifting this into the car is not a minor challenge for a guy my age. I'll replace the tired LG unit with probably a new LG unit and donate this tired out one to a recycle/reuse center so it can be serviced and provided out to someone who needs a solid unit and doesn't have one now. Just with I could find, without fail, a nearly perfect portable AC unit for my situation. All of the reviews are all over the place with other ones and physically and mentally cannot go through 12 units before I find a decent one that works as well as my last one. I'm not a hater, and wish I had been writing this as a success, it would be to my advantage not to have to do the return and all the physical labor of getting it back downstairs, figure out the boxing strategy, and get it back to the store - dead lifting a heavy box with not even handles to hold it is more a challenge these days, unlike when I was 20 years old.

I purchased this unit for our lanai. My wife likes sitting out there in the morning and evenings. We have EZbreeze window enclosures. It gets very hot with the morning sun as well as cool in the winter. This portable air conditioner keeps the temperature in a comfortable range.

Bought two in late Spring 2018. One seems to fill a drip bucket pretty quickly while the other hardly expels and co sensation whatsoever. Good product overall for the money. Bought online and picked up in store. Process was easy. Looking forward to cutting the heating bill down this winter too.

I really like this product. I have used both AC and Heater. It definitely has done the job quite well. This unit is used in a 20x20 garage that was converted into a bedroom. The drain tube that came with it did not fit so I had to be creative. Plumbers tape and a garden hose works well. It has a swing on the unit that moves the vent up and down to really cool off or heat up a room quick. All functions have worked without any problems. I have had no issues with this product and will be buying another one in the future .

At this level, one should expect heating to be better than a $40 plug in or a small propane 'Mr. Heater'.......but no.......When set at 80 degrees, the air coming out was 65 degrees (which I measured with an Extant thermo, )....good luck with that.......the 'high' fan was so pitiful that my dog could breathe harder........waste of almost $500

I order that online and when UPS delivery it was up side down rather that has anything to do with it; I feel puttie sure it has a lot to do with it. But I decided to keep it next two days or more. But it never heated up enough to take the chill off. I have a 12.000 BTU in my Bed room that one work like a charm put lots heat. Pump out drain very well I really like it. The one I has sent back that one was a 14.000 BTU it just would not put enough heat I rate that one 2 star or three. I hope this would help.

We are using it on a 17x17 foot lanai, which faces southwest, in Florida. We have vinyl windows, so we didn't expect it to cool like our regular ac. We have already had days in the upper 90's and it keeps it about 10-15• cooler than outside and with less humidity. It is kind of loud.

This is the 2nd unit we've purchased. The original one is doing a great job. No problems at all. The 1st one is in the garage keeping my husbands antique car cooled and dry! He wanted a 2nd unit for another vehicle he keeps in an enclosed trailer. Very satisfied.

          Cooling a sunroom
We have a small sunroom 300 sq ft. It has a lot of windows so therefore gets a lot of sun and heat coming in. I was hoping this unit would be able to keep up with the Georgia heat in the summer months, but it has trouble keeping the room comfortable during the heat of the day. To be fair, we don't have any shades to help block the sun, but this will be our next project. Also, I was not happy about having to purchase an additional ($30) through-hole adapter, so the vent could go through the wall. The unit comes standard with a window adapter, which works fine for a double hung window... but did not work for our situation. The through-wall kit was required for our room.
