About this vacuum when I moved into my house a year and a half ago and I absolutely love it. The only thing negative I have to say is that it does not do really thick rugs well. I love it so much I'm buying another one from my upstairs so I don't have to drag them up and down.

Good for short time
This is my second Shark and I thought it was a fluke that the first one broke and I upgraded to the Apex Duo Clean. I loved it.......until it broke. It just stopped turning...there was power and lights but the roller and suction quit. It was less than 18 months old and they said whatever was wrong wasn't covered. I think they are made to be temporary and don't even try to get a replacement part under warranty. Limited warranty means "whatever is wrong, isn't covered".

Great attempt great ideas
I purchased a Shark® APEX® Upright Vacuum with Powered Lift-Away®, DuoClean® & Self-Cleaning Brushroll about 18 months ago. The two main reasons I chose this vacuum was that it lifts away so I can get under the beds in my house and hair is suppose to NOT get stuck in the brush. That is a great idea for the hair not to get stuck but it is untrue. I also have a Shark Navigator for upstairs. The APEX you cannot take the brush out of the head to clean it. The Navigator’s brush is much easier to clean. I am very disappointed in the APEX for this reason.
They do have another (newer) vacuum that is basically the APEX that has fin bar instead of a brush bar. Hmmm... I wonder if I can get a fin bar for my APEX and swap them out.
When you turn the APEX into a canister the vacuums heads motor is so strong that it doesn’t stay on the floor. Also, the attachments on the APEX do stay on as well as the Navigator.

Powerful suction
I bought this at the beginning of the year, 11 months ago. My very first time using the vacuum I was disappointed, I thought it was clunky and chunky, I thought the hose was tight and hard to stretch to those hard to reach places. When you lifted away the bin I couldn't hardly control the vacuum anymore because the brush roll would just run away from me. All that aside, I just needed to learn how to use it properly and adjust to it. Now I cannot recommend this vacuum enough! No dirty left behind!! The light on the floor base and hose head are my favorite features, it is so nice to be able to see in those dark place that dirt is hiding where you wouldn't see it before. I have 2 dogs and I have 24in hair myself, I swear to you I have NEVER had a hair clog nor have I had to unwrap hair from the brushes. The dust bin is so big compared to my previous vacuums and so easy to dump! The cord is a good length too. Rinsing the filter is easy, and wiping out the brush roll to keep it working perfectly is such little effort in my book. If you get this vacuum I suggest you allow a small grace period while you learn the ropes and may be adjusting from a different vacuum. Shark Apex really is the perfect vacuum once you get the hang of it.

average vacuum. nothing impressive
seems this vacuum is more for wood floors and vinyl floors. I have very low pile carpets and the vacuum does a seriously poor job sucking out the diamond patterns on the rug. the soft brush on the front does nothing on the rug. I end up using a shop vac more than this expensive vacuum. If they created a brush option for the soft roller I would bet it would make a huge difference using 2 brush rollers and people can switch between the soft or brush roller if needed. I am 4 days past my 90 day return and dont have the box anymore. maybe sell it and lose my shirt
