A must have for direct bury

The same wire in a brown jacket is about $8 cheaper.

Good quality and very strong. Sometime it becomes hard to flex it to required shape. Even the insulation was hard to strip. I wanted to install a couple of porch lights and I think a 14/2 would have been enough.

Only needed 65 ft, but not sold by feet length.

Exactly what we needed for the job

Perfect for running underground to new shed. Thick casing and price was best anywhere.

Perfect price and wire

We have a small hobby farm where we raise laying hens for eggs, and ducks and geese for fun. We built a large coop and fully enclosed pen. It is about 80 feet from our large barn. Needed to run a power line to coop. The wire is very good quality, with a very tough, cut resistance sheath. I took the extra step of placing it in PVC conduit, as it is running close to our organic garden. The black and white wires are completely enclosed and surrounded by the sheath, so double protection to the copper wire. Takes a little more effort to strip the wires and prep them to connect to electrical panel, switches, outlets, and light fixtures, but the added damage resistance of this wire makes it worth it.

Great wire for the money; running underground in PVC pipe is easy as I've done this several hundred times. Nothing much else to review, it's wire, it's effective like all other wire, and is easy to strip and terminate. P.S. -- To those saying they run Romex underground... Please don't be an electrician anymore... especially if you're licensed and do things to "code". You'll have to replace it as it will rot out from being damp constantly. Read your code books if you're "licensed".

Never have I ever had a hard time pushing 12-2 through a 1in pvc pipe. I’m an electrician and struggle for an hour getting it through the pipe. Got to the stripping part for an outlet and couldn’t even get the coating around the wire off without cutting the wire. Would recommend romex over southwire anyday. Ps first time ever using southwire
