I set out 3 different types of traps: this Tomcat Press 'N Set, Snap-E mouse trap (black plastic with metal bar), and an old school Victor trap. I set up a WYZE cam to record the action and help find out where the mice were coming from. The mouse showed up around 5am and spent a good 15 minutes eating all of the peanut butter out of the other two traps without setting them off. When he moved to the Tomcat Press 'N Set, he didn't last 5 seconds without setting it off - catching and killing him. These are definitely the most sensitive ones that I've used thus far. I'm giving it 4 stars because it certainly did the job better than the other traps, however, the mouse did not die immediately, and struggled for about a minute - even though his head/neck was caught in the trap. I recently caught a couple mice in the other traps and they did appear to die pretty much right away. Therefore, it loses a star for being slightly less humane than the other traps. But if you want the most sensitive trap that will surely get them, this is the one.

Customer at Home Depot recommended this product to trap elusive mouse. Don't waste your money on electronic or standard Victor traps. Mice will not go into electronic traps and small mice will not trigger Victor traps. Guaranteed to work. Highly recommend.

I had a mouse in my apartment for about a week. The elusive little creature kept eating my food! and leaving his little poops on my counters and floor! Oh God, Cleaning mode on steroids! I went to Home Depot, bought a couple packages of this mouse trap. Waited till bed time and set it out. About 1am I heard it snap and the mouse squeaked. I knew without going in the kitchen it was caught. The only thing I didn't like was, it didn't come with an attractant. I improvised and mixed butter, honey and graham cracker crumbs together. Worked Great!

          Tips from across a stream
I am in a small slab home built in 1950 across from a stream in the forest of PA. Its not the age, but the small size and age of the house that lends to mice problems. First, an exterminator told me years ago they can get through a hole as small as a dime; I find they can get in through even smaller. The type found here can be very small like field mice. Second, dont touch them after the trap works. They arent plague bearers but its a gross creature and truely unhealthy. Throw them out immediately outside or maggots will generate in your house. I use gloves to pick up the trap and an extra garbage bag in case of maggots. Third, the process can be a bit tricky: like any factory product the traps are not all the same calibration for the spring mechanism. Set the trap and test with a pen to see how sensitive it is. You can repeat as needed cause it will not ruin the mechanism. If the trap is not very sensitive and pushes down a little before snapping, you can push it down with a pen and leave it there so you know it will trigger immediately. In this case, leave less bait cause the mouse can duck in without the platform in the way as much. Leave space above the trap for it to flip, emulating a cat or dog breaking the neck. Make sure you are a stickler about any crumbs or food in the house; you want to force them to the trap. The Tomcat bait worked first night for one out if six traps. I used cashew crumbs to start and got over ten in two nights. Sometimes they are like maze mice - not always stupid. I am not paying $400 yearly to kill them and have them come back next year through the same cracks. I am sealing it off cause I can in this house.

Small Mouse Couldn’t Dance on this trap!
After utilizing the larger rat trap version of this unsuccessfully we purchased this smaller version. First night, I placed almond butter in the little food holder and the tiny mouse cleaned it out without triggering the trap. So the next night I filled the little holder up and placed some almond butter on the plastic activator making the trap very sensitive and I’m glad I did bc we caught the tiny little field mouse. Very satisfied with this trap. We will clean it up for future mouse issues that may arrise! I highly recommend this trap for your small mouse needs!

Simple, deadly and reusable. I used two of these in an area of my garage that I suspected was hosting mice. Just an hour after I set these - which is uber simple to do, put bait in the little well in front, pull back on the middle lever to set the trigger and place the trap up against a wall or straight surface-- I found my first two victims, Unlike glue and traditional traps, there was no mess whatsoever, since the jaw mechanism kills by crushing the neck/ upper spine of the rodent but does not penerate the flesh. Disposal is simple, no touching the mouse, just pull back on the middle lever to open the jaw (which I do over a garbage pail) and the carcass drops right out of the trap. Then use a hose to rinse it, put fresh bait in and you're ready to continue eradicating the critters.

                  Easy to use and effective!
We have been having a mouse(mice) try to get into my dogs “airtight,” plastic food container. Say one right on top of the container, with peanut butter and dog food bait. Caught one the first night! Going to put the other there tonight and see what happens! Hopefully we will catch them all, or they will leave!! Trap is very easy to set up and easy to dispose of!

It says not available in store, it is at my HD. This is the "better mouse trap" people talk about making. Easy to set and reset. Easy to eject mouse without having to touch it. Touching only one part minimizes how much of your scent goes one it. (you should wear gloves) I don't buy the wooden ones anymore.

Okay I don't write reviews but I'm doing one now. I think only had one mouse but he was in here for over three weeks. Went through two exterminators. Bought and set over 20 wooden snap traps. Over 10 poison stations all over the house. Nothing! I saw him poke his head out from under stove night before last. Went to Home Depot and bought 3/2 packs! Also bought the liquid bait. I used three with the liquid bait and three with peanut butter. Set them yesterday last nite. Laid down for nap two hours ago and heard a thump. Got up and there he was! DEAD!

                      Amazing....
If you're reading this, you have found the same problem - MICE... In all the years, I've never seen or had to deal with such a small, but very annoying problem. I tried the catch and release first, but the "others" seem to avoid the already used product. Moving forward, visiting my local Hardware Store. The Sales associate advised this product as "guaranteed" (he used it himself). What the heck, I tried it... After only two day, repeat two days I've caught 5 (so far). Super quick, easy to use, jaw effect works amazing. Clean up is easy; slap on a glove, get a plastic bag, pick up the trap by the easy to grab tab, squeeze it open and release the vermin into the bag. Reset the trap, disinfect wipe the area (add to the bag), discard the glove (into the bag), tie up the bag and out to the street trash. Thank you for creating this product and making me feel so completely satisfied during a really stressful time. :)

                        Best Mouse Trap
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Press and Set is the perfect description for these Tomcat mouse trap. It is so easy. You put the bait into the trap. Then you press the lever and it locks into place until the bait trigger is tripped. No worries about the dang thing going off while you set it. I don't know why it took so long to have a trap that really snaps that doesn't snap me. I am just happy that Press and Set works. No worries about mice after using these. I was asked to review these and I highly recommend them. Another plus for me is that they are plastic and weather doesn't affect them if you need to trap outside. My picture shows the right one set and the left one ready to bait. Too cool and super easy.

Very effective, gets the job done!
I purchased a 2 pack of both the "Press 'N Set®" & the "Kill & Contain®" traps. Baited all four traps with "Tomcat® Attractant Gel" and set them in various locations overnight. The "Press 'N Set®" killed one mouse overnight then another one early the next day. With the grab-tab you can easily dispose of the entire trap or if you're like me and want to get more bang for your buck just press open the trap over the trash can to dispose the rodent keep the trap for re-use. Unfortunately the "Kill & Contain®" traps have not been effective. I will continue to use both when needed but I would only recommend the "Press 'N Set®" traps.

                            Easy to use.
I live in a rural area with fields and woods around my house so it isn't uncommon to have mice. Poison keeps mice at bay for the most part but occasionally they do get in the house. I have 4 of these traps and have used them for over a year. They continually do the job! They are easier to set than old-fashioned wood traps with the metal arm. They are plastic and have a grab tag that enables you to pick up easily to dispose of. The only drawback I find is the cost. The recommendation is to throw the away the dead mouse, trap and all, so you don't have to handle the mouse thus avoiding mess or disease. These traps cost $4-$5 each. A pack of two is around $8. I think that is rather costly to just throw away. So, I re-use them and have had no problem with them. All you have to do is pull/push back the Grab Tag to reset and to release the mouse, turn/shake trap to dislodge the mouse. It is not hard and you still don't have to handle the mouse or touch the platform. Simply wash the trap in hot soapy water or disinfectant and reuse. I highly recommend these traps. Made in China.

The best mouse trap I've ever had.
I used these mouse traps in past and from my experience, this is the best and fastest killing mouse trap, thanks to the double row of sharp teeth around the edge (see pic. 1). Once this teeth snap, there is no escape for mouse. Operating this mouse trap is clean and simple. Instructions are shown on the box, see pic. 2 and 3. As a bait I am using peanut butter. When putting bait in trap, make sure you don't put too much, so mouse has to touch the perforated plate above the bait in the order to get the food. If you put too much bait, it can happen, that you will have difficulty to set the trap. In that case, scrape little bit bait off and help to lift perforated plate up (with the knife or so). The trap when set is very sensitive to touch. Make sure it snaps the mouse and not your fingers. It hurts.

6 hours from purchase to kill!
This trap worked like a charm. After seeing a mouse run from our kitchen to our living room and back last night, it was obvious we needed to get traps. I bought 4 of these (two packs of two) at 3:30pm, set all four around the kitchen, and by 9:15pm our mouse was dead. It was super easy to set (you literally press down one lever) which is why I chose it instead of the traditional wood-and-metal kind. Used peanut butter as bait. I would definitely use this one again.

I bought these this afternoon, put peanut butter in it, and not even 12 hours later I got one. It was sandwiched such in a way that its head was outside the trap but the lower half of its body was caught, so I went a little ways away from my house and let it go. I don't know if I just Joe Swanson'd it or not but it was very much alive and scurried off into the night. The traps aren't made to be reset but mine was able to be so I did that and put it back. Unsure if it'll work again but we'll see.
