I don't have other experience to compare this product with other brand but it delivered a great job. I bought it to setup a cooling system for my mining rig i covered my shelve with this and hooked a ventilation fan to suck the heated air out. This is very nice and thick it provided lots of insulation which cooled down my garage so efficiently. You get so much of this i still have lots of excess material to use on another project. I would definitely buy again as needed.

works in Texas
I wanted to get the electricity bill lower by cutting so much of the heat in the attic. This product has good reviews and was in the price range I wanted. It works as good if not better than expected. For the DIY people, be sure to get an electric staple gun. it makes the job so much easier. I did have to take my time in cutting the amount needed. next time I'm ordering to size needed.

I ordered this and the 24' roll. They are both easy to work with, basically feels like jeans, no itch. The smaller 48"x6' that i received was much more dense to the feel, by 50%. Don't know if that was a fluke or not. I got this in an attempt to keep noise down from a basement room via the ductwork. It seems to work reasonably well for that, maybe a 4/10. Thicker is the better of the two. But thermally it's hard to tell the difference. Both are the same result. If say 9/10. It's medium duty grade IMO. It's old pants and foil after all. But did it's intended job admirably with a little sound muffling as a bonus.

I purchased this to use as a sound dampener in a basement room, to try and keep some sound from traveling to the upper floors, via the heat duct and cold air return. It seems to have worked fairly well for that purpose, does it's job as thermal insulation just as well. I also purchased the smaller 6 foot long roll as well, this was significantly more dense than the large 24 foot roll (see pics). But overall this is a good product that seems to do what it's intended to do. It was very easy to cut and fit where I needed it. It is easy to handle and affixes with simple metal duct tape. It's old blue jeans, so there is no itch at all. It's kind of interesting to look at as well. My only negative was the significant difference in the density of the two rolls of the "same" product. But it hasn't seemed to affect its intended purpose of thermal insulating. I was hoping to achieve an outcome outside of its intended purpose. That's where the density difference was less than ideal for me. Otherwise it's solid and i would recomend it.

Used it to line a car trunk. Placed fiber side down and pieced together with foil HVAC tape. Cuts easy with scissors, helps prevent items in trunk from sliding around or making noise. Not really the purpose of a radiant barrier but an inexpensive solution. This product looks close to the OEM automotive insulation, expect it to perform about the same but will check once and a while for moisture absorption or premature failure.

I bought this as an alternative to dyno mat and it was worth it. I used it in a 1958 Corvette project car and it covers the whole floor. I am also going to use it inside the doors and trunk as sound and heat dampener.

Exactly what I needed
This was not a conventional use for the product by any means. I used it to replace the 50 year old cab roof insulation in a 1967 El Camino that I had completely disassembled. At 1/4 the cost of automotive solutions it was a no brainer for me. Product was easily trimmed with scissors and glued foil side up for a nice flat installation. I suspect it will outlast me.

Excellent Product
I ordered this product because a friend recommended it. Well, I will do the same, it is a great product, I used to insulate my van and I will have to say it is the best thing considering the other products out there. So far, I can feel the difference inside my van, and I live in Florida, temperatures over 100 during the summertime, but now I can feel the difference inside my van, much cooler. Recommended again to anyone who wants to do a small insulation job, and get good results!

Great product for miscellaneous / unusual insulation needs
While having new tile flooring installed in my house, we had to remove the dishwasher so they could tile under it. I noticed that the gray poly fiber insulation around my Whirlpool dishwasher was disintegrating. Simply touching it would cause it to fall apart and flake off as dust and fibers. We vacuumed all of it off, but we were then left with the bare plastic tub of the dishwasher, which was very loud and hot.
I found this radiant barrier right away on the Home Depot web site, but because it is an online only product, I went to the store to try and find something I could use right away. I looked at water heater blankets, but the single one that was available in my store was fiberglass and looked like it would be a mess to cut and fit to my dishwasher.
So I ordered two pieces of this radiant barrier, which arrived at my local store several days sooner than the HD web site estimated. Pickup at the store was a breeze as usual.
This product is very neat stuff. The actual padding is like shredded denim or cloth fibers, so there is no mess or hassle of dealing with fiberglass. It's relatively thin, so easier to tuck into tighter spots than puffy insulation. It's very smooth, flat, and uniform, making it easy to form around corners and crevices.
It is fairly tough stuff, so I ended up using EMT medic shears to cut it rather than scissors. It took some effort to cut, but the medic shears worked great and produced nice clean straight cuts. The reflective backing is a thin plastic material with fiber reinforcement, and it is well bonded to the fiber layer. The fiber material didn't separate at all, and it did not produce any mess or dust when cut, so there was zero mess to clean up.
I covered my dishwasher with one full sheet of the barrier and figured out how I was going to cut it to fit. I made a few cuts with my shears, and the tailored barrier fit the dishwasher like a glove.
I used a hot glue gun to attach the barrier to the dishwasher tub. The hot glue worked well, and held the barrier material in place perfectly. To cover a few long seams, I picked up a roll of the foil HVAC tape, just to keep that cool silver space age look. The foil tape worked great with the radiant barrier, sealing up the seams.
I am not sure how the hot glue will hold up over time with the heat of the dishwasher, but I can check in a year or two and upgrade to a different glue if necessary.
A single sheet completely covered the dishwasher, and I had a few small remnants left. I returned the second one that I bought back at my local store.
This stuff is awesome. Based on the reviews, it seems like there are dozens of uses for it.

Couldn't have been any easier!
I used this to insulate and quiet my 1992 Chevy van. It was easy to cut to size with a big scissors. I glued it up with a spray adhesive and taped the seams with aluminum tape. It couldn't have been easier. I'm amazed at how much quieter it is now. Great stuff.

Quality product for car audio enhancement and road noise
This product is similar to or better than what high end auto manufactures use with the addition of 3M sound dampener pads in the doors and the interior quarter panels to give you that quiet ride.
With the appropriate amount of both products used in the the doors and panels the stereo sounds great, the long rides on the highway is now a pleasure, and my 2002 Mazda Protege5 feels like any great luxury auto usually does.

Seems to work as advertised
Product seemed to work well on floor of vehicle. Was too thick for the door panels so had to find a different material. Can be difficult to cut.around detailed areas. Overall I think it will reduce the heat and muffle the sound some as intended.

No itching insulation
I used this to insulate my wood garage doors at my attach garage. Easy to cut. No itchiness, no funny smell. I used staple gun staple scrap plastic to secure it also add washer to existing screws to secure. The temp before insulate was 20 degree lower than heated area, now is only 10 to 12 degree in this winter where outside is only 30 degree right now.

fantastic product for acoustical applications
I use the ultratouch thermal barrier for several applications - beyond the typical wall, duct, or pipe insulation. I use this product in vehicles to act as an absorbing layer underneath factory carpet and/or underneath mass loaded vinyl (MLV). The DB-3 product sold at Home Depot is a good pairing for a car floor when additional noise reduction is desired. This product could also be used to isolate drywall from studs or rafters to increase STC.

Just what I needed!
I used this as underlayment/soundproofing in a conversion van. It cut perfectly with a pair of scissors, and I taped it down with metal tape. The roll had more than enough to do everything I needed. It fit perfectly under the seat area, and around the engine. I will be recommending this product to everyone who is doing a conversion.

I am using this to insulate the interior of a RAM van that we are converting to an RV. It is easily cut with a good pair of long scissors (mine with definitely need sharpened when I am done). It easily glues in place with 3M adhesive 99 sprayed on the reflective barrier. I placed 48" long strips on the ceiling and immediately noticed a difference in the temperature inside the van. I will also lay this on the floor underneath the rug.

Used product in floor pan of older car as heat and sound barrier. Applied 3M Super 77 spray adhesive prior to install and worked exceptionally well. Got the adhesive at HD too but don't remember the cost. The Ultra Touch product was easy to handle, measure and cut. Hope to get many years of good use out of it.
