The acoustical properties are as good as Safe'n'Sound and better than fiberglass. Moreover, it is half the cost of Safe'n'Sound and much less than fiberglass. I needed a hanger every 12 to 15 inches and it was difficult to put up this big cotton ball with 1 person - 2 or 3 people is recommended

While remodeling my home, I decided that it would be a perfect time to replace the fiberglass insulation and go green. I read up on the different types and decided this would be easier then blown in insulation. Big mistake. I got both R19 and R30. It is difficult at best to get the insulation to hold in to the studs. Cutting it to size is not fun. Trying to tear it is no easier. I will never use this product again, even if it were given to me free. I tried to return what was left but have been unable. Stay away from it.

I would give this 4.5 stars if possible, but it really is an excelent product. The only cons is it very dusty, and is hard to find without buying a whole pallet (at least here in CO). Some people have reported difficulty cutting this insulation, which I agree is not easy, but it is very easy to tear. I've used Ultra Touch on a few projects now and personally feel it is worth the greater investment. I just put it in a music studio/room I am building, and the sound dampening is very good. I intend to make a few sound baffles out of the pieces I have left. I put the insulation in walls and ceiling. On the ceiling I had to run strings and stapled to hold it in place pre drywall. I also used the staples to tack it in the walls to keep it from settling. The batts are fairly thick and relatively heavy compared to fiberglass insulation. All in all, a great product. I personally like the recycled composition and non-itchy installation a lot.

Excellent Insulation Choice
Bought this insulation as a sound barrier between the main floor and the basement that I am finishing. The floor joists were at odd widths, generally between 19 - 21 inch centers. The perforations made it easy to get a nice fit. About 80% of them had two perforations each. The other 20% only had one perforation down the center. I wish they all had the same double perforations. Insulation is not itchy like fiberglass. But is very dusty, making a mask and goggles a necessity. Almost impossible to cut. But very easy to tear, so I had no issues. I even tore lengthwise when the pieces did not have a double perforation. I used insulation wires to hold the bats in the top of the floor joists. After installation, sound reduction was incredible in the previously "paper thin" floor. The marginally extra cost was well worth ease of installation and sound reduction qualities.

New Construction use
I insulated a 1200 sq ft newly constructed house, walls & ceilings. Used R13 in walls and R30 in ceilings. No itch, but still had to use a dust mask as it does release cotton, like the lint you find in your dryer filter. Way better than fiberglass. Hard to cut so we ended up just tearing it by hand. Came out ok. The only problem is that it is dense and heavier than fiberglass so it sags and falls out of walls & ceilings if not tight fitting. We ended up running bare on ceiling at 18" centers to keep it from falling out. With the banging on the roof by the roofers, it would just fall out. Other than that, it is a good sound deadening, environmentally friendly and formaldehyde free product. Will use it again now that I know how to handle it.

Love it!! Very easy to install. Wish there was more variety in the quantities you have to purchase.
This is only pennies per foot more than fiberglass insulation and very well worth it. VERY easy to install. I am a woman in my mid fifties and I hung some 900' of ceiling and walls by myself in a day. It was like stuffing pillows into the spaces. Perforations make it so that almost every space you have is prefit and the 16" whole pieces fit very well. I could hear the sound deadening effect immediately, even before the sheetrock was hung. The cons are how dusty it is (but what insulation isn't) and when you do have to cut the length I found a good pair of scissors worked better than a utility knife. I also wish you had more choices in the number of bags you had to buy, say 6 or 8 bags vs. 12 bags.

Not right for my application.
Good product. It was not right for insulating walls before drywall.

Great Idea, could be better
I was forced into buying the 23" wide battens as my builder left me with 17" on center floor joists in my basement. I chose this product over spray foam strictly because of cost. The biggest problem with the battens is they are perforated inconsistently throughout the package. One batten may have two perforations, another may have just one and they will be of different widths. They also tend to sag a great deal because of the perforations which forced me to buy webbing to keep the battens in place until the ceiling was drywalled. There's a definite decrease in noise right now even without the drywall on the ceiling so the product seems to be doing fine there.

Great product
Used this product in the walls and ceiling in the bottom floor of our remodel. We decided to give it a try after using the fiberglass insulation in our upstairs remodel. Easy to put in walls and ceiling.

Love this product!
I am a middle aged woman...installation was easy. I used it in a partially finished attic where the kids store and play with legos. The denim is safe for them and doesn't look like typical pink. Fun, warm, safe and easy to install...what's not to love??

great insulation
picked up last week from store . just got started installing this morning . i ordered the 23 in wide because my studs are are one foot centers . the way the materal is already cut into diffarent sizes has made it very easy to install . when i do have to cut one in half i have used a grinder with a cutting wheel . makes good even smooth cuts . installed two bags in less than 2 hours . and can already tell a differance in temp in my basement . great stuff
