Best for finishing any woodworking project

This product sure beats brushing spar varnish on! Great for small projects!

This ruined my paint job. Does not come out consistently clear but has yellow in some areas even though I shook the can very very well. Waste of my time and money. Have to redo my cabinet bases now.

Bought to add a protective clear coat to a white paint finish. Bought the "crystal-clear" spray version. Coating was a coffee-brown color instead of being clear as the can was labeled. Did not dry clear either. Ruined the project I was working on and had to completely start over, resanding and repainting a dozen expensive (Phillipine mahogany), vintage wooden bench slats. DO NOT BUY if you want the product to work as advertised. Photo shows one slat with coating (left) and uncoated (right).

Works just as described. you have to do 3 to 4 light coats if you see white while applying then you are going to heavy on your coat. wait 2 hours between coats don't apply if temperature is above 90f outside. take your time and you should have good results. I also used this on my outdoor patio furniture which I spray indirectly with the hose once per week when I clean my backyard and so far so good. also gets direct sun and no fading yet.

Using this to refinish 4 antique chair handles. I had 2 antique family heirloom chairs bead blasted, powder coated, & ceramic coated by an professional automotive refinishing shop. The handles were heavily weathered. I hand sanded, then stained then then with Varathane Golden Pecan. Still on the last coats of the Varathane oil based Urethane (wet sanding with 800 between coats). I very much like this product for wood refinishing where grain is going to show.

The Varathane was used to water proof a bird house my grandson and I made. We put on three coats to help prepare it for foul weather. Note each coat takes a day to dry.

First time to use this product and it exceeded my expectations. You'll never go wrong with this. Its was easy to apply and with good results. My DIY table and benches look so amazing.

Worked well but made the white paint a yellowish tint after the second coat.

Because I used this on the surface of a bathroom vanity the heavy spray was excellent for my application.

This sealing spar coating makes wood impervious to water, goes on easy and dries overnight. I sprayed my 12-year-old outdoor wooden swing with this and it stopped deterioration in its tracks.

Perfect for use over oil based stains. Expect to lay down 2 coats for really good coverage, and there will be a yellowish/brown tint with it, so know that when putting it over really light surfaces that there will be a discoloration. To avoid that, use the Water Based Crystal Clear one (Blue Can) with water based stains and dyes. I made that mistake already. It will cure really nicely in the sun, or 2 days in the garage... make sure the surface is totally dry before putting on the second coat, or it will take even longer.

Clear worked well sprayed and laid out nicely on my project.

product easy to use. Needed an excessive long drying period. Caused discoloring on my dark wood(black walnut) turning it white. Had to stripe sand full project piece. Light woods worked good and did not require smoth sanding. I will not use this product again.

No mess with an acceptable result .

Easy To Use, Quick Drying, I painted Ceramic Fish For Outside Hanging On Huge Planters, Sunny Here In Florida Direct Sun Light, Wanted A Spray That Would Protect & Enhance . Nice Low Oily Shine & Protects ! Sprayed The Cords Too, This worked out perfect! Very Durable!

Does not produce a water resistant barrier as advertised.

Crystal clear means no pigment, no opacity. Clear. This product has a brown hue. It is not crystal clear. It is for wood, not for anything else.

Easy to apply and seems to be a great product so far. Gives a nice smooth and solid finish. Time will tell whether it stands up to the elements.

Used it on a cedar canoe seat I made . Finished with several light coats of Varathane and the results were excellent !

This fine if you're too lazy to brush on spar urethane but otherwise I recommend Behr Spar Urethane instead. I used this on patio furniture because I was being lazy but I'm not a fan of how it dries. It stays a little sticky for a while & does not dry soft/smooth to the touch. I also noticed some spots came out more wet but luckily my furniture was dark so I just brushed off the excess. Talk about high VOCs as well, it's smelly - do not use in any enclosed area & wear a mask when applying.

The price was right and it was just what I wanted as well as needed for my project!

Good product for Cider wood planks. Wish I knew and applied this when I first made my mailbox stand before it started to fad from the sun.
