Protectant against UV light
Pro: The protectant dried without leaving a coating or stickiness, no color change in our wool area rugs was noted. The supplied sprayer is good for small jobs. Using this product costs less than the $2 a square foot the professionals charge for the same protection. Con: We had to order a separate gallon pump sprayer for our larger application of two 9 X 10 area rugs. We ordered 64 oz of the product and it did not fill to the half gallon point on the sprayer. Seemed skimpy. There was none leftover. Best to order more than anticipated need. Have not had the opportunity to test for stain protection.

Great product! First introduced to this when I asked my upholsterer about fabric protectant. He then told me about Vectra and that it is the same product you pay an extra $100 or so to have applied to furniture. Really nice to apply to fabric before taking it to upholsterer, but also for existing pre-manufactured furniture and rugs. Water beads up nicely giving time to wipe up a mess before it soaks in. Very fine mist that spreads around quite a bit. I wished I could have done this outside to keep product off my hardwood floors. Instead I laid down towels. Best to apply before going to bed so that you can give product the full dry time of 12 hours. Minimum is 6 hours. Totally worth the $ to protect rugs and furniture.

    Great fab protector!
bought this almost 2 years ago for my couch and chair and dining room chairs...fabulous! haven't worried about a spill yet...i know when it happens, it will bead up in enough time for me to grab a towel to dab it up! wanted more for my newly bought ottoman.

    Doesn't work AT ALL.
I needed a fabric protectant that was not flammable (so I couldn't use trusty Scotch Guard), and read all the great reviews of this. They must have used some other product, or be getting paid for the review! I tried this on a sample piece of cloth. After it dried, I dropped a little bit of water on it, expecting it to bead up. Nope, it absorbed right away. Used a second coat. Same thing. Used a third coat. Same thing. Threw it away.

    Good enough
didn't discolor upholstery, tested by spillage on second day after application - seemed to clean up well, don't need to re-apply product. it's a bit expensive, and perhaps not as environmentally 'friendly' as i'd like, but then what in this life really is? recommend apply outdoors, and let dry a full day before use; there is an odor and it can irritate bare skin - use protections.

    carpet treatment
Used product before. Seems to fight stain "set-in" pretty well. Not aerosol so more fluid in container.

    easy to apply
easy to apply - better than scotchguard -- the only real downside that I know of is that it is not sold in stores so if you need more - I do so I have to order online and wait a few days then go pick it up--- seems to work so why not sell in store or ship to home? still waiting for the 'real test' ---a coffee spill on the new couch but not going to test it on purpose :) I'm ordering a bigger bottle to refill this one to apply to a new char and my truck seats - water does come off after applying and does not change feel or appearance of fabric so hopefully coffee will to - yes, I spill a lot of coffee........

      Smart purchase
Sprayed our new rugs with the spray. Hardest part was moving the rugs to the garage to spray them. Already had one spill on the beige rug and it came up fairly easy. Have sprayed all my rugs with this product.

      Vectra vs. dogs
I have dogs. Rather than spend a big wad on a sofa made with crypton fabric (super hydrophobic qualities made into the fabric) I decided to get my furniture cleaned and spray with a water proofing spray. I want one that is water based (not a voc, off-gassing stinky horror show). This is water based and is made in Atlanta, Ga--sounded like it fit the bill. I bought 4 cans to spray a sofa, loveseat, and 2 chairs. I sprayed each item throughly at least 4 times. I let the furniture dry for several hours. There is a slight smell, but not bad. When I flick water on it, it seems some rolls off and some is absorbed. This is not what I wanted. Maybe it has some protection, but I want it to be bulletproof for preventing dog stains. I bought the stain remover, too, but haven't used it yet. So, that's my story.

        Some Application Concerns
The product itself seems very hopeful however there was a major miss with the spray applicator that leaked whenever the bottle was tipped in any direction. Contacted the manufacturer and they just said I should get another spray cap...no offer to send me a replacement. Only disappointing part of the purchase, so far.

        good product
The fabric protector was easy to apply. It has 2 qualities, stain and sunlight protection. So far, no accidents and minimal time for fading.

        Leaves Fabric Soft!
I bought this spray to protect my new sofa. The spray did leave the velvet sofa feeling nice and soft, which is great! The only problem was the spray bottle leaked like crazy! The directions say to shake well before using, which is how I found this out. I even tried a different spray top-same thing. SO-shake it over a sink, wear disposable gloves, and cover the floor around it and anything nearby you don't want sprayed. I did have my whole-house fan running while I used this, and afterwards, and the odor was not noticeable.

        Great Product!
Used this product on our new furniture! After 3 months, it has done it's job of protecting everything! Easy to use, no obnoxious smell. Dries clear with no residue. Will use again every 6 months or so!

        Good stuff so far
We recently purchased our first piece of nice furniture- a sectional for our living room. Bought the fabric protector spray after reading reviews. I used the entire bottle on the sectional and cushions. I made sure to let everything dry for about 8 hours before putting the cushions back on the frame. We havent had any messes to clean yet so i cant say if the product will work as indicated. But so far i like the product- no lingering smell, fabric feels the same as it did before, no stains from the spray.

          Vectra Furniture Spray
Was easy to apply. Seems to work well with any outdoor fabric. Have not had any major spill or soiling, but it is holding up well to wet bathing suits. No spotting or staining. Seems to repel well. Will update posting as time goes on.

            smells but not stains
It does smell. But it did not stain my furniture or the wooden legs, and dried quickly (I left it to dry overnight). Not sure how well it works (nothing has spilled). Here's hoping. I like that it is not an aerosol can. I'm hoping non-aerosol spray means more product got directed to my furniture and less to the air.

            Easy to Use
I ordered Vectra because Scotchgaurd can't be used on wool rug. It came soon enough to the store and pick up was easy. Product sprayed on easily and I didn't notice any strong odor, though I did have windows open. I used about one and a half 32 ounce bottles to generously spray a large corner recliner sectional sofa set, 2 stools, 8 by 10 wool rug, 3 large dog beds and about 10 throw pillows. I can't rate the product yet for spill clean up as fortunately we have not had any yet!

            Didn't do enough.
I thought I would pay more for a better stain repellant but liquid soaked right into the fabric even after 2 applications. Wound up buying a scotch guard product for less money and it worked much better.

            Surprising uses
Used on upholstery in both home and CAR (seats AND mats); and on wool oriental area rug. Might it work on fabric window shades? Looks clean, bright and natural. Though I was a bit careless, my hardwood floor was easily wiped and suffered no damage. Loved the reviews, without which I might have chosen a different/cheaper product. I suspect that by using a product of this quality I won't be shampooing these items for a long time. What a work saver!!

            This product works!
Sprayed couch & loveseat, and 5 x 8 area rug. So far a month later, no traffic stains on rug. That's unbelievable!!! Couch and loveseat are new, so will be able to leave more detailed review later. Chose this product due to the great reviews, instead of purchasing the costly protection spray offered at furniture store.

good product at a resonable price
I used this product on 6 dining room chairs that were largely covered in a material that was either polyester or nylon and that have the feel of suede. The product goes on as a fine mist making it easy to get a uniform covering of the product on the chair. Although I read that this product is non toxic (unlike 3M's Scotchguard that was sufficiently dangerous that the company removed the product from the marketplace and reformulated it as a new product not long ago) and that any over spray wouldn't damage wood, I wore a mask and covered the bottom wood part of the legs of each chair with plastic grocery bags. I also took the chairs out of the house for spraying. All 6 chairs were done in less than 10minutes. They say it is important that you do not saturate the material. I waited about 15 minutes after the initial spraying and the material already felt quite dry and then I sprayed a second coat on each chair. I let the chairs stand about 30 minutes outside before returning them to the dining room. The entire operation took less than 90 minutes. I never noticed any smell by the time I brought them back into the house. As advertised, the spraying did not seem to affect the feel of the material in any way (unlike 3M's Scotchguard that leaves the material feeling "sticky", a little like a teflon coating). I have had only one minor spill since the application and that came off immediately with a little water and dabbing with a sponge. I do believe the product will be effective in minimizing any serious stains. I would recommend this quite highly. The 32 oz spray bottle did the 6 chairs with 2 coats and I still had a little product left over. The chairs (backs and seats) were entirely covered in material - it was only the legs of the chairs that were in wood.

            Great Product
I used this product on my white upholstery headboard. I also used on a light colored upholstery storage bench that stores my daughter's toys. My daughters uses the bench daily and we have no issues/stains yet. I treated both products about three months ago.

WEEK OLD RED WINE STAINS CLEANED RIGHT OFF!
First off, I agree with the other reviewers. The spray bottle is the way to go. Also, the product descriptions are way off in advising what size to buy, so go up in size if you are in doubt. I have a 3 cushion couch with a chaise, it is 96" long and I used up 65-75% of the bottle on it. I wouldn't have been able to do the couch with the smaller size. Application is easy, just spray and let it dry. I noticed red wine stains a week later after a spill occurred and I wet the area ever so slightly, wiped with a damp towel and about a dozen pin-sized red wine stains came right out. I LOVE THIS PRODUCT! I will treat every new upholstery purchase with this product in the future!

              Mixed results on application
I used this on a sofa first and it dried like a dream. I applied it to another chair (same linen fabric) and it stained it and dried with noticeable water spots all over the chair. I would use strong caution and test this on every single piece before using. I have yet to have a spill in either so I can't review the actual performance. The smell was mild which was a plus.
